I Return From Hell

Chapter 152: Chapter 145: Taboo 2

There was nothing there.

”Phew.”

’What am I even thinking?’

’This is the 21st century. I should trust in science. There’s no such thing as ghosts or Gods.’

’All this bullshit about taboos is just a scam by the owner. I overheard his plan for this hotel before—he’s just using these so-called taboos as a gimmick to attract customers.’

’It’s all that cleaning lady’s fault. She doesn’t know anything, just how to scare people.’

”Phew.”

As she thought this, Yu Xia let out another sigh of relief. It was clear she had been incredibly tense just moments ago.

So... what now?

Get in bed and play on her phone?

Get in bed and sleep?

Go out?

Or continue folding stars?

’Since it’s all a lie, what do I have to be afraid of!’

”Hmph!”

’I’m not scared at all!’

Yu Xia was truly a product of the new generation—a brave, atheistic youth. She actually sat back down and began folding stars again.

The only difference was that this time, she turned on her phone. She put her music playlist on shuffle, trying to soothe her nerves and fill the dead-silent room with some noise.

To make it a little livelier.

However, just as she finished folding one star, she once again felt that ”tapping, tapping” pain at the base of her neck. This time, it was even worse.

It felt as if her cervical spine was about to be snapped in two.

Furthermore, with each tap, a blast of cold air seemed to shoot into her neck, spreading from her cervical vertebrae down her entire spine and throughout her body.

Get out of here!

Hurry!

Hurry!

She instinctively tried to stand up, turn, and run.

However...

’My whole body is frozen!’

’What’s happening?’

When Yu Xia realized this, she grew pale with fright and fell into a complete panic.

She wanted to scream for help, only to find she couldn’t even open her mouth!

”THUD.”

”THUD.”

...

To her horror, the tapping sound continued relentlessly.

It made Yu Xia’s body even more immobile, and the pain in her neck intensified as if it were about to snap.

”No.”

”No.”

”Sob... Can anyone save me...”

She fell into despair.

Tears streamed down her face.

But her body only grew stiffer, showing no signs of improvement.

”CRACK.”

Until at a certain moment, the sound of a bone fracturing rang out.

”BANG.”

The door was kicked open.

As Xia Yu and Little Flower burst into the room, they saw Yu Xia’s head and neck suddenly detach from her body, as if she were a statue that had broken at the neck.

Her head, still attached to her neck, fell heavily onto the desk.

It twitched and rolled.

Finally, it came to a stop, facing Xia Yu.

It was clear that Yu Xia had been terrified and utterly hopeless before she died.

Yin Qi!

Such dense Yin Qi!

There’s a ghost!

Little Flower kept sending signals, appearing excited without a trace of fear.

In truth, Xia Yu had already sensed it without Little Flower’s reminder. But before she could make a move, the Yin Qi bizarrely vanished.

She couldn’t pinpoint where the hidden ghost was.

’Did it hide? Or did it leave?’

Xia Yu’s delicate brows furrowed slightly, and a thought crossed her mind.

Little Flower moved accordingly, walking straight to the desk and sitting down!

’The receptionist’s death was likely caused by breaking the second taboo.’

There was a reason Xia Yu had commanded Little Flower to do this. ’In other words, the ghost in this room kills according to the rules of the second taboo!’

If that was the case, things would actually be simpler.

All she had to do was have Little Flower sit at the desk, lure out the ghost, and then kill it.

Xia Yu tensed her entire body, her right hand gripping the Blood Butterfly and her left holding several oral organs, ready to strike at any moment.

A few minutes later.

Nothing unusual happened. Instead, screams erupted from the hallway outside the door. ”Monster! A monster is biting people! Ah! Help!”

”Come quick! My dad is dead, sob...”

”This shithole place has no power and no signal! I’ve fucking had it!”

”Why is there so much fog everywhere? We can’t get out! What are we going to do?”

...

The chaos outside intensified.

”ROAR.”

The Mutants began to slaughter on a massive scale.

Ghosts and monsters killed people amidst the chaos.

Inside the small hotel, humans had nowhere to hide. They could only become lambs to the slaughter—and penned-in lambs at that!

Screams of agony.

The sound of flesh being torn.

Curses.

Cries.

...

They all blended together, forming a symphony of despair.

But Xia Yu remained motionless, her composure unwavering.

It was as if none of it had anything to do with her.

Finally.

Her patience paid off.

Little Flower felt a tapping sound at the base of its neck.

Once.

Twice.

...

’It’s here!’

Xia Yu then also sensed the Yin Qi around Little Flower growing denser.

Little Flower transmitted a wave of excitement: it wanted to frantically devour it.

Xia Yu stopped it.

Wait a little longer!

It’s not time yet!

The ghost in the shadows hasn’t fully revealed itself!

Wouldn’t it be troublesome if Little Flower scared it away?

”THUD!”

...

The tapping grew louder and louder.

Because Little Flower’s strength far surpassed that of the receptionist, Yu Xia, its neck was much tougher and more resilient, so it could hold out for a long time.

After an unknown amount of time, the screams from the hallway died down.

Only the gruesome sound of chewing remained.

Meanwhile, Little Flower was gradually reaching its limit.

At this moment, Xia Yu could finally see it clearly: a white figure formed entirely of Yin Qi was hanging in mid-air. It wasn’t floating—it was hung!

Hung from the ceiling by a rope.

Whether it was due to a draft or not, the white figure was swinging back and forth, its toes tapping against the base of Little Flower’s neck again and again.

”A Hanged Ghost!”

Xia Yu’s gaze sharpened, and she barked, ”Now!”

”WHOOSH!”

...

The oral organs in her hand shot out, followed immediately by Xia Yu herself, who pounced like a cheetah!

Little Flower, which had been enduring it all, also moved at this moment.

It abruptly reached out and grabbed the Hanged Ghost’s feet. Because its own body was also extremely heavy with Yin Qi, it was completely unaffected by the Hanged Ghost’s ’restraining’ Yin Qi and could move freely.

Not only that, but its Yin Qi-infused hands gripped the Hanged Ghost’s feet, making it impossible for the ghost to escape.

”AAAH!”

The Hanged Ghost let out a spectral shriek.

To be precise, it was a shriek of terror.

Because the ’prey’ beneath it was actively siphoning the Yin Qi from its body!

Just as it was about to fight back, something pierced through the center of its back, dealing a devastating blow.

”AAAH!”

This Hanged Ghost was powerful. Its spirit hadn’t scattered, nor had its body collapsed. It was still struggling, trying to survive.

”Die!”

Xia Yu arrived instantly, ruthlessly plunging the Blood Butterfly in her hand into the back of its head.

It sank deep inside!

”AAAH!”

A bloodcurdling scream rang out, inaudible to ordinary people.

However, its kind, who were rampaging throughout the hotel, all froze at that moment and instinctively looked in this direction.

It was as if they had witnessed the Hanged Ghost’s spirit being annihilated.

Then, in unison, they all turned their gazes toward Xia Yu.

In that instant.

Xia Yu felt as if she had been plunged into an icy abyss, and her expression changed...
