I Return From Hell

Chapter 158: Chapter 151: What Kind of Act Is This?

A scholar.

An Ancient-dressed Woman.

For them to suddenly walk out of the bathroom, especially under these circumstances, anyone would be startled, right?

”AHH!”

Xie Chengyong stumbled back several steps, accidentally pulling at his wound. He instantly sucked in a sharp breath, breaking out in a cold sweat as blood began to seep from the injury once more.

”What do you think you’re doing?”

”Don’t you know you can scare someone to death like that?!”

He instinctively wanted to curse, but then he realized there were two of them and that their current environment was rather dangerous. He managed to control his temper, lowering his voice to ask, ”You two, why didn’t you come out sooner?”

The scholar replied, ”We had no idea if you were a good guy or a bad guy. We didn’t even know if you were a person or a monster. How could we dare to rush out?”

Uh.

Xie Chengyong was taken aback. He then asked, ”Why didn’t you close the door?”

The Ancient-dressed Woman spoke up. ”We heard a noise and were going to check it out, but then we saw a group of monsters outside and got so scared we ran back in.”

”We forgot to close the door.”

That explanation made sense.

Xie Chengyong nodded, feeling a little more relaxed.

In any case, having two living adults with him provided some sense of security. ”Why are you two dressed like that?”

The scholar shot back, ”What we wear doesn’t seem to be any of your business, does it?”

Uh... he was right, it wasn’t.

Recalling that many young people nowadays enjoyed wearing historical costumes, Xie Chengyong decided not to press the issue.

”Want to go out and take a look together?”

he asked.

”Okay.”

The scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman hid behind Xie Chengyong.

Xie Chengyong was speechless.

’What a couple of cowards!’

He took a deep breath, pressed his ear to the door, and listened for a long while. After confirming there was no sound outside, he moved the desk aside and quietly opened the door.

The stench of blood assaulted his nostrils.

Xie Chengyong instinctively narrowed his eyes, his whole body tense. But for some reason, he felt a chill creep up his back. He glanced over his shoulder without thinking.

He happened to see the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman smiling at him. They even offered encouragement, ”Don’t be afraid. We’ll go out together.”

Xie Chengyong had a vague feeling that something was wrong, but he couldn’t pinpoint what it was, so he had to let it go.

「A few minutes later.」

”Those monsters should all be dead.”

”That’s great.”

After searching the third floor, Xie Chengyong’s gaze shifted to the fourth.

’The person who nearly got me killed is up there!’

’I have to drag them out!’

TAP.

Just then, footsteps sounded from downstairs.

Xie Chengyong’s expression tightened. He gripped a table leg tightly in his hand, ready to duck into a room at a moment’s notice.

The scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman exchanged a glance, a flicker of vigilance in their eyes.

Soon, Xia Yu, Little Flower, and Red Sister came up the stairs.

”Are you human?”

Xie Chengyong asked.

”Yes.”

Xia Yu nodded. Her eyes were fixed on the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman behind him. She raised the Blood Butterfly in her hand and said coolly, ”You two, make your move.”

Although she didn’t know how these two ghosts were able to form physical bodies, the Yin Qi they emitted and the feedback from Little Flower both confirmed their identities.

Little Flower was already prepared to strike.

Unexpectedly, the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman both spoke out.

”What are you talking about?”

”I don’t understand.”

”Miss, we’re all human. We should be banding together right now to deal with those monsters.”

They had practiced some secret technique of the Ghost Clan that allowed them to absorb human life force to solidify their bodies. The more life force they absorbed, the more human they appeared.

Of course, no matter how human they seemed, they weren’t human!

There were still differences between them and real people.

Xia Yu’s brow furrowed. ”What kind of act is this?” she asked.

The scholar said, ”Miss, could there be some misunderstanding?”

The Ancient-dressed Woman added, ”We’re not acting. Don’t accuse us wrongly.”

Xie Chengyong, standing to the side, was completely baffled.

’What’s going on?’

’Do these three have a grudge against each other?’

”Miss,”

”Let’s all just calm down and talk this through.”

”These are extraordinary times. We must cooperate sincerely. Please, don’t be rash,”

he pleaded.

”You haven’t noticed they aren’t human?”

Xia Yu asked.

However...

To Xie Chengyong’s ears, her words sounded like: ”Are you even human?”

”Yes! I definitely am!”

He nodded decisively, even raising his right hand, holding up three fingers to the sky, and swearing, ”If I’m lying, may I get hit by a car the moment I step outside!”

Xia Yu was speechless.

’It seems this hotel owner has been thoroughly deceived.’

”Move,”

she couldn’t be bothered to explain and just said coldly.

There were still four ghosts in the hotel.

One on the fourth floor, and three on the third floor.

Right now, the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman were ghosts, and the location of the other one was unknown. Regardless of where it was, Xia Yu had to deal with the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman quickly.

The longer this dragged on, the more likely something would go wrong.

But to Xie Chengyong’s ears, her word sounded like: ”Courting death!”

???

Xie Chengyong’s head was full of question marks. He raised the table leg in his hand, pointed it at Xia Yu, and said with a wary and threatening expression, ”What are you doing?”

”Killing someone is against the law!”

”Besides, do you really think I’m a pushover?!”

”There are three of you, but there are three of us, too! Who’s afraid of who?!”

Xia Yu’s brow tightened even further.

’Based on his previous actions, this guy doesn’t seem like an idiot. So what’s going on now?’

Little Flower sent her a message: There’s a ghost on Xie Chengyong.

’A ghost?’

’The third ghost!’

Xia Yu’s eyes narrowed. She shifted some of her focus to Xie Chengyong and immediately noticed something was off. In the next instant, it all clicked into place: the ghost on Xie Chengyong had used some unknown method to make him side with them.

’But what use is an ordinary person like Xie Chengyong?’

She couldn’t figure it out.

And she couldn’t be bothered to try.

”Attack!”

She gave the direct order.

Just as Little Flower was about to move.

CREAK.

The iron door on the fourth floor swung open with a grating sound that was exceptionally loud in the hotel.

A bone-chilling cold gushed out.

!!!

Xia Yu’s expression tensed, and she immediately focused most of her attention on the opening.

The others did the same.

”Help me.”

Master Hong came tumbling and crawling down the stairs. He had a grim-looking wound on his arm from which blood gushed, dyeing his kasaya robe blood-red. His face was also spattered with a large amount of blood, making him look quite terrifying.

He looked like a demon coming down the stairs.

However, Xia Yu knew he was a person.

A living person!

”Master Hong, what happened to you?”

Xie Chengyong asked hurriedly.

”ROAR!”

Before Master Hong could even speak, a roar echoed from behind the iron door.

A small but extremely agile figure shot out, pouncing directly at Red Sister, who was the closest.

”AHHH!!!”

Caught off guard, Red Sister screamed and dropped into a crouch, covering her head.

WHOOSH.

Little Flower, however, leaped into the air, vaulted over Red Sister, and struck the creature’s head with a single punch.

CRACK.

The Mutant, which had once been the little monk, died instantly on the spot.

Dead!

This was also the last Mutant in the hotel.

”Master Hong, what happened?”

Xie Chengyong glanced warily at Little Flower, clearly not having expected her to be so powerful.

Master Hong, having lost all semblance of a master, began to explain, trembling.

As Xia Yu listened, she looked toward the pitch-black fourth-floor landing, which gaped open like the bloody maw of a monster. A sense of foreboding rose in her heart...
