I Return From Hell

Chapter 153: Chapter 146: 100%

What’s it like to be targeted by several ghosts at once?

Xia Yu had never experienced it, even in her previous life. After all...

The number of Mist Events was limited, as was their area of effect. Even though more and more of them appeared after the Apocalypse began, they were still finite. Spread across the entire world, the probability of one happening to her was minuscule.

What’s more, the chance of the Ghost Clan appearing within a Mist Event was even smaller.

And yet, here she was.

She was experiencing it firsthand.

In that instant, Xia Yu made her decision. While silently reciting the Nameless Mantra and gripping the Blood Butterfly tightly, she had Little Flower unleash all its Yin Qi in an attempt to intimidate the Ghost Clan members.

The surrounding members of the Ghost Clan all flinched.

One of them was the first to look away.

It was scared!

Then came the second.

And the third.

Soon, all the Ghost Clan members acted as if nothing had happened and continued their slaughter, though they would now and then glance over to keep an eye on Xia Yu and Little Flower’s movements.

They did their best to avoid them.

”Heh.”

’The law of the jungle truly applies to all Spiritual Life.’

Xia Yu relaxed slightly.

A moment ago, showing any weakness would have gotten her killed as an easy target.

Only by showing strength could she protect herself.

Her gamble had paid off!

At the same time, she made an assessment of this group of ghosts: they weren’t a single unit. Or if they were, they were just a disorganized mob. When faced with a strong enemy, their first thought wasn’t to team up, but to get out of the way.

’How stupid!’

’Stupid when they were human, and stupid as Evil Ghosts. They deserve to become food for Little Flower.’

HUMMM.

Just then, as Little Flower finished absorbing all the surrounding Yin Qi, its fourth transformation progress finally reached 100%!

It even began its fifth transformation.

’Killing ghosts really yields a lot of Yin Qi!’

Xia Yu didn’t leave in a hurry. Instead, she began to test out Little Flower’s abilities now that its fourth transformation was complete.

’Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated!’

A few minutes later.

Based on Little Flower’s feedback, she basically understood the changes:

First, when Little Flower was applied to her, Xia Yu, as its master, consumed far less yang energy than before. This meant she could keep it applied for longer. She could also actively change her appearance, mimicking people with similar facial structures. The imitation wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough to fool someone in the dark.

Second, it could now absorb Yin Qi by making physical contact with ghosts, which would in turn harm them. This method was extremely efficient at killing, and its combat power was much greater than before.

To give a simple example, it could now kill the hanged ghost from before all on its own.

The speed at which it absorbed Yin Qi had also increased significantly.

Third, when applied to a dead person’s face, it could drastically and naturally alter their features, making it impossible for anyone to notice. It could also further control the corpse, allowing it to move as freely as a normal person.

’I wonder if it can be applied to another living person’s face to change their appearance?’

Xia Yu had no one to test it on.

This was actually a very important point.

After all, if a tool could only be used by one person, its limitations were too great.

If it could be shared, that would be a completely different story. Its value would skyrocket.

Of course, even if it couldn’t, the post-fourth-transformation Little Flower was still extremely useful.

First, it would be much harder for others to find Xia Yu in the future, giving her more freedom of action.

Second, she now had a very capable helper for dealing with ghosts.

Third, changing a dead person’s appearance could be put to great use if handled properly. Moreover, it could further unleash the combat power of the Resentful Corpse that Little Flower was occupying.

’And one more thing.’

’For the time being, I don’t have to worry about Little Flower losing control of this Resentful Corpse’s body.’

In this respect, Xia Yu had accomplished one of her goals for this trip.

But it wasn’t enough!

’I have to seize this opportunity and drastically increase the completion progress of Little Flower’s fifth transformation.’

Therefore, she couldn’t let the other Ghost Clan members in the hotel get away.

’The moment you started avoiding me, you were no longer my match.’

This group of ghosts had given her the chance to pick them off one by one, an opportunity she certainly wouldn’t pass up.

With Little Flower’s increased strength, it was also easier to sense the number of ghosts nearby.

Five of them?

’That’s quite a few.’

’Good. I was worried there wouldn’t be enough for Little Flower to complete its fifth transformation.’

After all, the fifth transformation would inevitably require even more Yin Qi.

”Let’s go.”

Xia Yu led Little Flower and strode away.

CREAK.

The door swung open.

ROAR.

A dozen or so Mutants wandering in the hallway lunged at them, snapping and biting.

BANG.

CRACK.

Xia Yu didn’t make a move. Little Flower flashed forward to meet them, smashing a Mutant’s head with a single punch.

No Crystal Core.

BANG.

CRACK.

No Crystal Core.

Three minutes later.

All 9 Mutants on the second floor were cleared out.

Five minutes later.

The 27 Mutants from the first and third floors that had rushed over after hearing the commotion were also all killed.

A total of 36 Mutants.

But only 2 Crystal Cores appeared.

”My luck is pretty average this time.”

Xia Yu, however, breathed a sigh of relief.

She remembered something her mother used to say: if you always have good luck in small matters, you might use it all up and run into misfortune when it really counts.

This was a time to be even more careful and cautious.

Her gaze shifted to the other rooms on the second floor.

* * *

The moment the Mist Event broke out, the water and power cut out.

The fashionable girl got scared and knocked on Red Sister’s door.

Red Sister didn’t think much of it.

After opening the door and seeing it was the fashionable girl, she even teased, ”Did you forget the third taboo of this hotel?”

Hearing this, the fashionable girl shrank back. She was actually quite scared. In her panic, she had only thought of finding someone she knew. ’How could I have forgotten about that?’

But she acted tough and said, ”What’s there to be afraid of?”

”It’s all fake, I’m sure.”

”This sudden power outage is probably just a stunt the hotel owner pulled to scare us.”

It had to be said, her thoughts were the same as most people’s.

Red Sister quite agreed.

She closed the door.

They went inside.

The two women didn’t turn on their flashlights, instead just playing on their phones. But then they discovered there was no signal. ”Wow, this owner is making it super realistic. He even blocked the signal?”

”This is so lame, he’s overdoing it. And I have things to deal with, this is just wasting my time!”

”I’m sorry, Red Sister. I won’t bring you here next time. This place really is a rip-off.”

”It’s fine. Since we’re here, we might as well relax. I don’t have anything important going on anyway, so I’ll just take a break. Hey? Listen, there are screams outside. They sound pretty terrifying, almost real. Tsk tsk, this hotel owner is really something else. To go this far... it’s actually kind of interesting.”

The fashionable girl pouted.

’Just a second ago she said he was overdoing it, and now she says it’s interesting.’

’Heh.’

Emboldened by the darkness, she grew more daring and open, not bothering to hide the change in her expression. Her words, however, remained extremely respectful. ”Red Sister, that rich kid from tonight... what did he think of me?”

”Not bad. He was quite satisfied with you. I’ll put in a few more good words for you, and it should work out between you two.”

”Then thank you so much, Red Sister.”

”Don’t thank me, we’re old acquaintances. By the way, you need to pay your membership fee soon.”

”I’ll pay it as soon as the signal comes back.”

’If I don’t pay the money, it won’t work out with this rich heir.’

The fashionable girl wasn’t stupid, or she wouldn’t have kept putting off the payment. She just didn’t realize how deep the waters of this business ran, and her desire to marry into a wealthy family was too strong.

It had blinded her.

She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she kept feeling like someone else was in the room. She subconsciously glanced around the other parts of the room...
