I Return From Hell

Chapter 159: Chapter 152: Benefactress, I’ll Do as You Say

The resentment inside was even stronger.

And Yin Qi!

It was very dense!

Little Flower looked toward the fourth floor and relayed some information to Xia Yu.

”Yin Qi? Resentment?”

Xia Yu’s eyes flickered.

The Yin Qi was easy to understand. When she killed the hanged ghost earlier, she had sensed five ghosts in the hotel. One was a mischievous ghost that had been killed, and three others were on the third floor.

The last one was on the fourth floor.

’But why the resentment?’

’Is it coming from the memorial portrait of that girl named Xiao Xuan?’

’What’s so strange about that portrait?’

Xia Yu was puzzled.

She had personally gone to inspect the portrait but had found nothing. That was the most terrifying part.

Just then, Xie Chengyong’s voice rang out.

”Master Hong, didn’t you see someone go up to the fourth floor?”

Master Hong had already regained his composure, no longer in the state of panic he was in just moments ago. He had reverted to his persona of an enlightened monk.

Hearing Xie Chengyong’s question, he put his palms together, shook his head, and said, ”Amitabha Buddha. Mr. Xie must be joking. Who could have possibly gone to the fourth floor?”

”No one?”

”Impossible!”

Xie Chengyong frowned and said, ”How could there be no one! That’s the person who shut the iron gate. Otherwise, how could I have gotten hurt?!”

”Let’s go!”

”Let’s go check the fourth floor!”

He took the lead, angrily charging toward the fourth floor.

”Let’s go!”

”We’re with you!”

The scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman also spoke up and followed him.

A flash of fear crossed the depths of Master Hong’s eyes. Then, he gritted his teeth and said, ”Amitabha Buddha. This humble monk will also accompany Mr. Xie.”

”I shall certainly vanquish the evil spirit!”

”Evil spirit?”

Xie Chengyong paused, his eyelid twitching violently. He looked at Master Hong with some fear, his eyes full of inquiry.

Everyone’s gaze turned to Master Hong.

Even Xia Yu was surprised. ’Could this eminent monk really sense the presence of ghosts?’

”That’s right.”

Master Hong nodded and said with a frown, ”It is an evil spirit that can seize a person’s soul and reshape their body. A human possessed by such a spirit will turn into a man-eating monster. Only those with a deep karmic affinity with Buddhism can avoid possession.”

”All of you here are people with deep karmic affinity. If you devote yourselves to Buddha, like Mr. Xie, you will surely receive Buddha’s protection in the future and live free of illness and disaster.”

A look of sudden realization appeared on Xie Chengyong’s face.

’No wonder so many people turned into monsters, while nothing happened to me.’

”Amitabha Buddha.”

The Ancient-dressed Woman put her palms together, imitating Master Hong, and said, ”So that’s how it is. Master, you are truly amazing.”

The scholar copied her, saying, ”From now on, I will certainly devote myself to Buddha.”

”Amitabha Buddha.”

Master Hong remained impassive, his bearing full of gravitas.

”Master.”

Xia Yu glanced at the clothes on the little monk whose head had been blown up by Little Flower and asked, ”This person was from your Buddhist Sect, wasn’t he?”

”How did he turn into a monster?”

Er...

Master Hong’s eyelid twitched slightly. He impassively said, ”To chant Buddha’s name while the heart is contrary will surely bear bitter fruit.”

Seeing everyone’s confused expressions, he continued, ”The so-called chanting of Buddha’s name means letting Maitreya Buddha be my master, listening to him in all things, relying on him for all things, and centering everything around him. Life should take Maitreya Buddha as its center, and no matter where you are, the arc of your life must always align with that center, focused on Maitreya Buddha.”

”Although Kong An had a karmic affinity with Buddhism, he did not cherish it. His body was in the Buddhist Sect, but his heart leaned toward demons. He was fated to face this calamity.”

”Amitabha Buddha.”

”What the master says is absolutely right.”

The scholar looked as if he had been enlightened.

”Listening to your words, Master, I’ve benefited greatly. I feel like I’m about to achieve enlightenment.”

The Ancient-dressed Woman, a masterful flatterer, said with a look of adoration.

The scholar, not to be outdone, laid it on even thicker: ”The disappearance of those monsters just now must have been your doing, Master?”

’Did he use some ritual to kill those Mutants?’

Xia Yu remained silent.

”Amitabha Buddha.”

Master Hong neither confirmed nor denied it. Instead, he changed the subject and asked, ”Patron, you have a deep karmic affinity with Buddhism. Are you willing to join the Buddhist Sect?”

”This humble monk will certainly teach you personally.”

”That’s wonderful.”

The scholar said with an excited look, ”To be so highly regarded by the Master, Mr. Liu is overjoyed. I am willing to enter the Buddhist Sect, to worship and honor Buddha.”

”Amitabha Buddha.”

Master Hong nodded in satisfaction and said, ”After this matter is settled, this humble monk will take you back to the monastery for a visit.”

And just like that, the two of them grew closer.

”Congratulations, Brother Liu, on entering the Buddhist Sect.”

”Congratulations, Master, on gaining a worthy disciple.”

Xie Chengyong chimed in at the perfect moment.

For a moment, Xie Chengyong, Master Hong, the scholar, and the Ancient-dressed Woman gathered together, exchanging pleasantries, seemingly having formed a small clique.

Xia Yu’s brow furrowed slightly.

”You want to rely on them to deal with us?”

She asked, looking at the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman.

The Ancient-dressed Woman: ”Miss, we don’t understand what you’re saying.”

”Amitabha Buddha.”

The scholar even put his palms together and said, ”Mr. Liu has already entered the Buddhist Sect. Whatever hatred we had before, from this moment on, I have let it go.”

’Has he gotten addicted to acting?’

Xia Yu was rather speechless.

”Patroness.”

Master Hong’s eyes flashed. Naturally taking his disciple’s side, he said, ”With compassion in your heart, and the Dharma body and wisdom life, you can attain great freedom.”

”Exactly.”

Xie Chengyong also spoke up, ”Miss, lay down your butcher’s knife and you can become a Buddha.”

Heh.

Xia Yu couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on them. She gave one final warning: ”Those two are not human. They are actual ghosts. Are you sure you want to side with them?”

Hearing this, Master Hong’s expression changed.

But what Xie Chengyong heard was: ’You two idiots, I’m going to kill you!’

So, he immediately raised the table leg in his hand and got on guard. ”Lady, do we really have to fight to the death? You really think we’re all just pushovers...”

Before he could say more, Xia Yu pulled out a gun.

BANG!

The trigger was pulled.

A gunshot rang out.

”Ah!”

Xie Chengyong instantly dropped the table leg, squatted down with his hands over his head, and screamed, ”Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me! I was wrong!”

As for the enlightened Master Hong, his reaction was even more pathetic. He dropped directly to his knees, his previously clasped hands now raised high in surrender, and begged, ”Patroness, you can do whatever you want! This humble monk will listen to you, I’ll listen to you.”

’This patroness actually has a gun!’

’She has no martial virtue!’

’Anyone would have to kneel in this situation. It’s no disgrace for this humble monk to kneel.’

BANG!

Another gunshot rang out.

”Ah!”

Xie Chengyong and Master Hong immediately grabbed onto each other, screaming ’Help!’ in each other’s ears.

Xia Yu narrowed her eyes. Staring at the scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman who had been shot, she said, ”You took a bullet and you’re completely fine. Are you still going to say you’re human now?”

The scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman had no idea what a ’gun’ was, and for a moment, they were stunned.

”To think you wanted to rely on them. How stupid.”

Xia Yu said coldly.

The scholar and the Ancient-dressed Woman glanced at Xie Chengyong and Master Hong, then sighed and said, ”Why did you have to force our hand?”

”Wouldn’t it have been better to just play along with us?”
