I Return From Hell

Chapter 156: Chapter 149: Baby’s Pain

”Someone else is here to play with baby. That’s great.”

”Hm?”

”That’s not right.”

”This room had your scent in it before. Are you the owners of this room? What am I supposed to do? I only want to kill people who come visiting.”

”That’s not right.”

”I smell the scent of my own kind. Are you one of us?”

The little boy curiously sized up Little Flower, asking, ”Why aren’t you killing people on your own turf? Why come here! Hmph! Are you trying to steal baby’s food?”

”This baby isn’t that easy to bully!”

Little Flower remained silent.

Xia Yu, however, spoke up. ”How do you know the taboos of this place?”

The little boy completely ignored her, continuing to stare at Little Flower. He even stood up, put his hands on his hips indignantly, and glared at Little Flower as if he could scare it away.

’Do they know each other?’

’What does he mean, ”one of us”? Could Xia Yu be a ghost, too?’

’Oh my god!’

Lying on the floor nearby, Xia Hongwei was completely dumbfounded. He felt his mind unraveling, his entire worldview flipped on its head.

Just moments ago, facing the ghost alone, his heart had sunk to rock bottom, certain he was going to die. Then he saw Xia Yu and her companion rush in, and a flicker of hope for survival ignited within him. But now, that hope had been cruelly extinguished.

’Am I still going to die?’

The emotional roller coaster sent Xia Hongwei into a complete breakdown.

Uncontrollable tears streamed from his eyes.

”Could it be that your killing patterns just happen to coincide with the taboos of this place?”

Xia Yu frowned slightly.

’It’s too much of a coincidence.’

’Impossible.’

”Hm?”

The little boy finally noticed Xia Yu.

It was mainly the two words, ”killing patterns,” that had piqued its interest.

”You can see me too?”

”You’re not one of us.”

”Why can you see me too?”

The little boy circled Xia Yu curiously, his body passing effortlessly through a wall before he came to a stop in front of her. ”You really can see me,” he said.

”That’s great.”

”This is so fun.”

”I’ve never met a human who could see me before.”

”Well, now you have,” Xia Yu said flatly. ”Answer my question.”

”We’re just a bunch of wandering spirits. We don’t know why we came to this place. To prevent infighting, we decided to kill people according to the taboos here.”

The little boy didn’t bother to hide anything—or perhaps, felt there was no need to. He stated directly, ”My power is pretty weak, so I was assigned the taboo of killing anyone who comes visiting.”

’So they’re assigned based on how strong they are?’

’Interesting.’

Xia Yu nodded. ”I see.”

”That’s not right.”

”You’re part of the Ghost Clan, so why didn’t you show up when the ’food’ was being divided? And why are you hanging out with a human?”

The little boy’s train of thought was rather jumpy. He quickly turned to Little Flower and asked, ”You’re very powerful. You could have easily been assigned more food.”

Xia Yu stated flatly, ”I’m the one who brought him here. Naturally, he follows me.”

”Oh?”

”So you’re saying you’re very powerful?”

The little boy looked at Xia Yu again. Suddenly, as if remembering something, his small face contorted with fear. ”Baby knows!”

”You’re the human who killed the hanged ghost!”

”You’re really powerful!”

”Could you... not kill baby?”

”No.”

Xia Yu shook her head coldly.

”Then you can go die!”

The little boy’s expression abruptly turned sinister. His entire form became ferocious and terrifying as he latched onto Xia Yu’s thigh and began to suck frantically.

Xia Yu was speechless.

She silently recited the Nameless Mantra in her mind, and the little boy found he couldn’t absorb anything at all.

The Nameless Mantra’s power scaled with the user’s own. Now that her strength had reached the level of a First Grade Spiritual Ability, the mantra’s effectiveness had naturally risen accordingly.

It might not have been enough against the hanged ghost, but dealing with this little boy was a piece of cake.

???

After sucking for a moment, the little boy was utterly baffled.

’I can’t absorb anything?’

’What’s with this woman?’

”Since you gave me information, I’ll give you a quick death by my own hand.”

PFFT.

The Blood Butterfly in Xia Yu’s hand shot downwards, as fast as lightning.

If it hit, the little boy’s soul would be utterly obliterated.

He would dissolve into endless Yin Qi, becoming nourishment for Little Flower.

However...

But to her surprise, the little boy moved with astonishing speed, instantly shifting several meters to the side, leaving the bathroom and entering the adjacent room.

”Hm?”

Xia Yu’s eyes narrowed.

’So fast!’

”Kill it!”

”Make it quick!”

she snapped.

WHOOSH!

Without a word, Little Flower detached from the Resentful Corpse and shot off in pursuit of the little boy.

As for Xia Hongwei, his consciousness faded to black.

Death.

「Room 208」

”Help!”

”Someone’s dead! Someone’s dead!”

Red Sister, having confirmed the fashionable girl was dead, turned deathly pale and immediately ran for it.

But just as she reached the door, a pair of small hands suddenly clamped around her neck!

”Ghk... urk... ghk...”

She clawed desperately at her throat, trying to pry off the small hands, but no matter how she struggled, her fingers couldn’t touch them.

All she could do was struggle in despair.

Endless fear and despair flooded her heart.

She was just an ordinary person. Faced with such a bizarre situation, there was nothing to do but wait for death.

She was utterly helpless.

WHOOSH.

Just as she was despairing, a child’s face appeared before her.

!!!

Fear crawled over her skin like a swarm of ants. Red Sister began to tremble violently, realizing that the face and the small hands around her neck belonged to the same filthy thing.

She fainted on the spot from sheer terror.

”Don’t kill baby, or baby will kill her!”

Seeing Little Flower’s face fly right up to him, the little boy shrieked.

He was terrified.

WHOOSH.

But Little Flower didn’t pause for a second.

”You humans don’t even care about your own kind?”

The little boy realized his hastily conceived, life-saving tactic was utterly useless. He knew this was bad.

The next instant.

Just as its fingers were about to dig into Red Sister’s neck, its entire body shuddered.

Little Flower’s face was pressed against its own.

”Aaaah!”

”It hurts, it hurts baby so much!”

”Baby was just hungry and getting a little food, why do you have to kill baby? Why?”

”We’re the same kind! Why are you listening to a human?”

”Ghh... ghh...”

The little boy cried out in defiance, but his voice grew weaker and weaker.

Finally, it faded into nothing.

In just a few seconds, it was drained dry, its soul obliterated.

Death.

SWISH!

At that same moment, the four other ghosts inside the hotel turned their gazes toward Room 208 once more.

”It’s that human again!”

”Should we team up and kill her?”

”Our only option now is to seek help from the one on the fourth floor. But will it cooperate with us?”

The faces of the three ghosts—the scholar, the young lady, and the child—who had just finished killing two people, turned grim. ”Let’s give it a try. We can’t just sit here and wait to be slaughtered.”
