The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 677: Chapter 271 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 15)_2

He Tiantian spread her hands innocently, ”Please don’t say that, I haven’t done anything on purpose, I just went with the flow, that’s all!”

She communicated silently with Student Xiao D, but her eyes were fixed on the direction of the gate.

Sure enough, moments later, Feng Yanting, trying to suppress his anger, strode into the courtyard.

”Yanting, you’re back? Are you tired? Are you hungry? Mom has been simmering chicken soup on the stove, how about I make you some noodle soup with it?”

He Tiantian greeted him with a warm and tender smile, the epitome of a gentle and nurturing mother.

Upon seeing the familiar smile, Feng Yanting’s eyes warmed up, his heart filled with grievances, and he almost burst into tears.

He quickly sniffled, pushed back the tears that surged up, and shook his head, ”Mom, I’m not hungry. You’ve been tired all day, please rest.”

”Speaking of which, where is Xiaoya? Have her do it! A mere maid without any manners!”

Feng Yanting targeted Xiaoya with his outburst, not just out of displaced anger but also because he truly couldn’t stand the lowly slave.

Hmph, just because she gave birth to three children for the Feng Family, does she really consider herself one of the Outstanding Officials?

She’s not even a concubine, but a maid, yet Mrs. Zhang and Nanny Zhao spoil her, making Xiaoya insolent.

And those three illegitimate brats have taken away Daddy’s affection from him, just for this reason alone Feng Yanting found it difficult to show a kind face to Xiaoya.

”Xiaoya is sick, she’s in the room looking after the children!”

He Tiantian said casually, then took Feng Yanting by the hand and led him inside: ”She is just a slave, you are a scholar, you needn’t bother with her.”

”Mom, you are just too lenient, that’s why those people have lost all sense of propriety!”

Feng Yanting’s criticism was indirect but clear.

On the other side of the wall, not only did Nanny Zhao hear this remark, but Mrs. Zhang, who Nanny Zhao had just woken up with a pinch, also heard it clearly.

Ow!

Mrs. Zhang’s eyes rolled back as she fainted once again.

Nanny Zhao: ...

As a loyal servant, she couldn’t blame the young master for his immaturity, she could only resent ”Gu Xiuniang” for being so cunning and leading Feng Yanting astray.

”Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore!”

He Tiantian looked at Feng Yanting with a smile, then suddenly asked, ”Did you feel wronged at school?”

At this, the angry look on Feng Yanting’s face disappeared in an instant, replaced with a slightly guilty dejection.

”Mom, I... this time, in the monthly exam, I only got second place!” Not securing the first place was also a blow to the usually outstanding Feng Yanting.

”Second place? That’s very good, Yanting, why are you looking so down?”

”Mom, I didn’t get first place, aren’t you... aren’t you angry?” Feng Yanting looked up, his restless eyes filled with hope.

”Did you purposely do poorly? Or did you neglect your studies because you were playing around?” He Tiantian’s smile faded as she questioned Feng Yanting seriously.

”No! Of course not! And during this period, I haven’t slacked off, it was just a momentary oversight that caused this—” Feng Yanting quickly explained.

He wasn’t a fool or someone to hold grudges, so why would he deliberately do poorly?

”Since it wasn’t on purpose, and you have always been working hard, then why would Mom be angry?”

He Tiantian’s smile blossomed again, she reached out and ruffled Feng Yanting’s hair, and said softly, ”Besides, my son realizes his mistake, knowing it was a moment of carelessness that lost you the first place. So, just be more careful next time during the monthly exams!”

”Also, let me tell you again, Mom does indeed hope that you excel in your studies and stand out.”

”But, if you can’t achieve that, Mom won’t be angry, as long as you’re well, that’s all Mom needs!”

He Tiantian’s words moved Feng Yanting beyond measure.

Tears uncontrollably streamed down his face.

With a thick nasal voice, he declared earnestly to He Tiantian, ”Mom, don’t worry, I will definitely study hard, become the top scholar, hold a high office, and let Mom proudly be the Imperial Decree Madam!”

By then, let’s see what qualifications Mrs. Zhang next door will have to act pretentiously in front of Mom.

He Tiantian: ...uh, actually, there’s no need.

Judging by the time, Marquis Pingnan, who had been missing for several years, was about to return.

Not only had he returned unscathed, but he also brought back several barbarian leaders, integrating those outsiders into Dazhou’s territory.

Marquis Pingnan proved with his actions that he hadn’t betrayed the country; in fact, he had made tremendous contributions.

Therefore, Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion rose again, and Emperor Chengtai reappointed him to guard the Southwest.

As the legitimate eldest son of the Marquis Mansion, Feng Yanting would be smoothly recognized and titled as the Princely Heir.
