The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 655: Chapter 264 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 8)

Nanny Zhao was terribly anxious. She lowered her voice and urgently said to Mrs. Zhang, ”Madam, I’m going to scold that foolish woman right away!”

After speaking, she didn’t wait for Mrs. Zhang to respond; she squeezed through the crowd and made her way to a nearby carriage.

He Tiantian was still gesturing for Feng Yanting to push the cart. Her voice was gentle, filled with the usual concern for her son that Feng Yanting was accustomed to.

So, although he didn’t know why Mom had asked him to get out of the car this time, Feng Yanting didn’t think too much about it, nor did he resent his mother’s ”favoritism.”

He even felt as though his mother was playing a game with him, the little boy mimicking his mother’s actions, raising his chubby little hands, his legs bowed one in front of the other, strenuously pushing the cart.

”Oh my, our Yanting is really amazing. Not even five years old, and he’s already able to help Daddy and Mom with chores!”

He Tiantian’s eyes curved into smiles as she deliberately praised him in an exaggerated tone.

Feng Yanting, young as he was, didn’t pick up on his mother’s teasing and thought he was truly remarkable, a little man capable of helping his parents with work!

His excitement only grew, he puffed out his little chest, puffed up his cheeks, and put all his might into the chore, grunting along the way.

Nanny Zhao arrived just in time to witness this scene.

Her head spinning, her heart racing, Nanny Zhao almost wished she could faint.

”Yanting!” My young master, oh, how you have suffered.

”Grandma, look, I can help Mom and Dad with work now!”

Feng Yanting couldn’t hear Nanny Zhao’s inner wails. Hearing his beloved grandma calling him, he turned, his plump, fair face brimming with pride and joy.

Nanny Zhao:...

”My Baobao, you, you are still so young!”

Nanny Zhao, struggling to hold back the urge to vomit blood, reached out to pick up Feng Yanting.

He Tiantian, however, chuckled and said, ”Mother-in-law, don’t worry, Yanting may be young, but he’s already beginning to understand.”

”He knows the difference between superiors and inferiors, the rules!”

”I was wrong before, always thinking Yanting was still too young, so I didn’t discipline him much. But I forgot, some things must be taught to children from a young age.”

”The lady is our Feng Family’s benefactor; these years, our household has thrived solely under the protection of the Marquis and the lady!”

”Now that the Marquis Mansion is in trouble and its future uncertain, I shall teach Yanting that no matter what becomes of the Marquis Mansion, our Feng Family, even the youngest Yanting, will always remember our place and be grateful for the lady’s kindness!”

After her flurry of words, He Tiantian didn’t even glance at Nanny Zhao’s darkened face.

She deliberately turned her head, speaking to Feng Yanting,”Yanting, remember, your father was able to unregister, acquire wealth and land, and be respectfully called ’Sir’ outside—all because of the lady’s grace.”

”Later on, you must repay the lady well.”

Nanny Zhao felt an old resentment stuck in her throat, unable to spit it out or swallow it.

What could she say?

Mrs. ”Gu Xiuniang” was absolutely right.

The lady indeed was the benefactor of the Feng Family, and the entire family must cherish the lady’s kindness.

All along, this was what Nanny Zhao had told herself and demanded from her family.

But, but—

Nanny Zhao once again felt that indescribable frustration and grievance.

”... Mrs. Gu, Yanting is still so young, why speak of such things to him?”

Taking a deep breath, Nanny Zhao finally found her voice.

She approached He Tiantian, glancing left and right, and noticing that the officers responsible for the escort weren’t paying attention to this corner’s anomaly.

Relieved, she lowered her voice and grated her teeth, ”The lady has been immensely kind to our Feng Family; we should keep it in our heart. There really is no need to mention it daily.”

”Plus, Yanting will need to study and learn martial arts in the future; talking to him every day about status and rules—you’re just binding his nature—”

Although the young master was raised in the Feng Family, the lady had long had a complete training plan for him.

Not to mention, now that the Marquis Mansion was in distress, revitalizing the Wei Family must rely on the young master.

If it were up to ”Gu Xiuniang” to influence him by always talking in his ear about benefactors, repaying kindness, and being a loyal servant, the young master might just—

Nanny Zhao certainly didn’t want to turn the noble young master of the Marquis Mansion into a docile, obedient servant.

”Mother-in-law, I understand you care deeply for Yanting.”

He Tiantian restrained her smile, speaking in earnest, ”But, the younger he is, the more he needs to understand reasoning.”

”The Feng Family truly is the hereditary servant of the Marquis Mansion; it was the lady who mercifully freed my husband from servitude and even allowed our Yanting to receive an education.”
