The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 663: Chapter 266 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 10)_3

He Tiantian did not delay, wiped her hands with a handkerchief, and then took out a piece of osmanthus cake from the pastry box, carefully feeding it to Wei Yuanniang.

The osmanthus cake was indeed not very fresh anymore; it must have been made about two or three days ago.

But its sweet fragrance and soft, glutinous texture still made Wei Yuanniang’s mouth water.

Feng Yanting had finished his cornbread and turned his head, only to see Wei Yuanniang devouring two pieces of osmanthus cake.

Ah, how disheartening!

The heart that had just floated aloft was instantly plunged into the abyss.

Mom was playing favorites!

Mom didn’t love me anymore!

Such thoughts occupied Feng Yanting’s heart.

Yet, how could such a young child know of the cruelty of reality and the wickedness of human hearts?

Following that, something even more upsetting happened—

The carriage jolted, the wooden wheels rolling over the yellow earth with a rumbling sound.

Traveling in this manner was truly dull and monotonous.

Previously, when Wei Yuanniang had been following the troop on foot, she was solely focused on enduring hunger, sunburn, and exhaustion, paying no attention to anything else.

When she no longer had to endure hunger, sunburn, or the fatigue of walking, Wei Yuanniang felt bored.

And the wound on her face seemed to start throbbing from having nothing to distract her.

”Hss!”

Wei Yuanniang couldn’t help but let out a soft groan of pain.

”Eldest Miss, does your wound hurt again?” He Tiantian asked with concern almost the instant Wei Yuanniang made a sound.

”It hurts!” Feeling an overwhelming amount of care and pity, Wei Yuanniang couldn’t help but respond with a tear-filled voice.

”Eldest Miss has suffered, how about this, let me tell you a story,” He Tiantian said, looking at Wei Yuanniang with affection.

She wasn’t completely acting; she truly sympathized with this pitiable child.

Such a young child, only four or five years old, to have suffered such a serious injury.

And such external wounds are the most tormenting, one can only endure slowly, waiting for the wounds to heal and scab over.

In fact, He Tiantian had already secretly massaged some acupoints for Wei Yuanniang to relieve the pain.

Otherwise, Wei Yuanniang would be in even more pain, more distress.

”That would be nice!” Wei Yuanniang was after all a child, curious about everything.

And although she was the daughter of the Marquis Mansion, bound by countless rules, with wet nurses and maidens serving her diligently, when it came to telling her stories and cheering her up, there had been hardly anyone.

She did not know why, but Wei Yuanniang very much longed to lie in a warm embrace, listening to a gentle voice telling her stories, coaxing her to sleep.

It was as if in a dream, she had once seen a similar scene.

Unfortunately, the child receiving such gentle treatment and experiencing happiness in that scene was not her!

Who was that person?

The image suddenly became very blurry, and Wei Yuanniang couldn’t see it clearly at all.

But deep down, she had such a yearning.

He Tiantian held Wei Yuanniang properly and then began to tell her a story.

He Tiantian did not tell stories of fairytales or picture books from later generations but instead turned some anecdotes of famous people from this dynasty into childishly delightful short tales and slowly shared them with Wei Yuanniang.

While entertaining, she used these little stories to teach some lessons, not just for Wei Yuanniang who had never heard bedtime stories, but even Feng Yanting, who had been carefully taught by Gu Xiuniang, was drawn in.

”Mom, say it again!”

He Tiantian had just finished telling a short story and was about to continue.

But Feng Yanting was still left wanting more; he momentarily forgot his mother’s cold demeanor from earlier and casually made a request as he used to.

He Tiantian didn’t respond to him but instead turned to Wei Yuanniang, ”Eldest Miss, do you want to hear it again, or should I continue with the story?”

Wei Yuanniang felt as if her heart was soaking in a hot spring, cozy and comfortable.

She turned her eyeballs, deliberately glanced at Feng Yanting with his bossy expression, and said on purpose, ”Continue with the story!”

”Alright!” He Tiantian replied.

Of course, she did not completely ignore Feng Yanting, softly explaining, ”Yanting, everything is to follow Eldest Miss’s wishes first!”

Feng Yanting: ...

His eyes widened in disbelief, looking at He Tiantian!

Mom, you’re my own mother.

Even if Eldest Miss is the daughter of our Benefactor’s house, still, our Feng family has been emancipated, why, why are you still being so humble and respectful?

With a sullen face, Feng Yanting instinctively wanted to burst into loud crying.

Seeing this, He Tiantian’s face suddenly turned cold.

There was not a hint of expression on her face as she looked coldly at Feng Yanting.

Feng Yanting was startled and stiffened on the spot.

His little mouth was still agape, but fear flickered in his eyes.

Good, he had remembered how just now when he’d cried and whined, his mother did not cajole him or back down.

Crying wouldn’t solve the problem, and Mom was no longer completely indulgent or tolerant toward him.

Now Mom only treated the Wei Family’s Eldest Miss well!

Wuwuwu, no, I don’t want to be a pitiful child without a mother’s love...
