The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 676: Chapter 271 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 15)

That day, Feng Yanting had just returned from private school when he was called over by Nanny Zhao to the next room.

”Yanting, what rank did you achieve in this month’s exam?”

Mrs. Zhang was truly anxious, she went straight to the point without any pleasantries.

”Second place!” Feng Yanting, suppressing his disgust, murmured with his head down.

Honestly, not having achieved first place in the exam this month made Feng Yanting quite unhappy too.

He was already brooding over it, and being scolded by an irrelevant person like Mrs. Zhang made him even more resentful.

”Second place? Why not first? Were you slacking off again last month?”

”You child, how can you be so lacking in ambition?”

”The private school you attend is merely the most ordinary one, yet you still couldn’t secure the top rank. How are you supposed to compete in the imperial examinations in the future?”

”...I, I will have to discipline you!”

Mrs. Zhang was frustrated as she was desperate; her husband was still missing, and her paternal family was exiled to a remote borderland.

Her only son by her side was her sole support and the hope for the revival of the Marquis Mansion.

Yet, this son was not ambitious enough. Despite his talent for studying, he was always reluctant to focus on his studies.

He was twelve years old already, while the youngest scholar in the Capital City was only thirteen.

With Feng Yanting’s performance, barely making top rank in an ordinary private school, could he really successfully pass the examination to become a scholar?

Perhaps he wouldn’t even pass as a child student and would remain an ordinary person.

No!

Absolutely not!

Yanting was the legitimate eldest son of the Marquis Mansion, the biological son of the Marquis and Mrs. Zhang.

The Marquis was a heroic figure; Mrs. Zhang was no fool either—their son absolutely could not be useless.

”Family punishment? Mrs. Zhang, oh no, you are no longer the Marchioness, so I should call you Lady Zhang.”

”Lady Zhang, if I remember correctly, my last name is Feng!”

After being denied and criticized by Mrs. Zhang for five or six years, Feng Yanting, now a handsome young man, could no longer hold back.

He suddenly raised his head, his eyes reddened, glaring hatefully at Mrs. Zhang, and said coldly, ”As a descendant of the Feng Family, what right does a woman from the Wei Family have to discipline me?”

Mrs. Zhang was frightened. For a moment, she actually feared that Feng Yanting might pounce and bite her!

Too terrifying!

This child, how could he become like this?

Also, what did she mean by ”no right”?

I am your mother!

Enduring a hard ten months of pregnancy, I brought you into this world as if passing through the Ghost Gate, and yet, you speak such heartless words?

”Yanting, do not be presumptuous!”

Nanny Zhao, seeing her mistress first shocked and then trembling with anger, suddenly became furious.

She sternly rebuked Feng Yanting, ”Do you not know, she is your biological mother.”

For a moment, Nanny Zhao nearly blurted out the truth.

However, Feng Yanting interrupted sharply, ”I know, the madame is our family’s benefactor.”

”But, granny, what I don’t understand is, what exactly does the Feng Family owe the madame?”

”My grandfather died trying to save the madame, the Marquis Mansion fell, and my daddy gave his entire fortune to help.”

”These years, my mom almost ruined her eyes, embroidering day and night to earn money and support the madame’s family!”

”...After all that the Feng Family has done, such immense favor should have been repaid.”

”And I am the son of the Feng Family, never once disrespectful to the madame. Whether my studies are good or bad, whether I am ambitious or not, my dad and mom have never uttered a word; what right does she have to intervene?”

”Is she supposed to scold and beat me without reason, just to repay a debt of gratitude, to show loyalty to her master?”

”If we are really talking about master and servant... granny, pardon my harsh words, but when the Marquis Mansion was exiled, it was my daddy who paid money to redeem the Zhang Family, making them, by registration, servants of the Feng Family!”

”I have been tolerant not because I truly felt the Feng Family owed anything to the Zhang Family, nor because I accept your nonsense, granny, but because I have the restraint not to stoop to arguing with a shameless woman!”

”And now—”

Feng Yanting snorted coldly, flinging his sleeves, he abruptly walked away.

Mrs. Zhang’s eyes widened in shock, a wheezing sound coming from her throat, and then, she fell backward.

”Heart Punishment indeed! Tiantian, that move was too vicious!”

Student Xiao D had activated the God’s Eye View, so he saw the live drama very clearly.

Watching Mrs. Zhang being so angered she fainted, and Nanny Zhao panicking. This pair of master and servant finally tasted the bitter fruit of their own sowing.
