The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 664: Chapter 267 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 11)

Feng Yanting was nearly at his wits’ end with grievances.

In the days that followed, every day he doubted, ”Am I still my Mom’s biological son? Her own flesh and blood?”

Why had Mom suddenly become more affectionate toward the Wei Family’s Eldest Miss?

After all, I am her own flesh and blood.

And then there was the Marchioness and the Mother-in-law. In the past at the Marquis Mansion, both the Marchioness and the Mother-in-law had loved him the most.

Whether he cried or just showed a hint of unhappiness, both of the elders would feel terrible.

Sometimes, even that noble Miss Wei would give me some respect.

But now, everything had turned upside down, and the favored one had become Wei Yuanniang.

It was bad enough with Mom and Daddy, but how could the Marchioness and Mother-in-law, both of them—

Feng Yanting was still young, he didn’t understand too much about life, he just felt wronged!

However, the words that He Tiantian had casually mentioned to Feng Zhongliang were etched deeply in his mind.

”...I too am learning from my mother-in-law. Her loyalty is commendable—having the chance to leave the Marquis Mansion, yet she chooses to remain by the side of the Marchioness, faithful and inseparable. Such character truly deserves praise!”

”Not to mention myself, even that Mr. Qian has nothing but praise for our mom!”

He Tiantian’s words were mainly for daily brainwashing.

A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.

The same words, repeated every day by her, would make people like Feng Zhongliang and Feng Yanting believe them as facts, thinking that she favored Wei Yuanniang out of loyalty.

And her reason for such ”loyalty” was monkey see, monkey do.

Alas, there was nothing to be done, with a mother-in-law who was a model of a loyal servant, as a filial daughter-in-law, she would of course learn well.

Excellence comes from surpassing a great example—only that is the Righteous Path!

Feng Yanting: ...Unaccountably, he suddenly felt a surge of resentment toward Nanny Zhao.

It’s your fault!

All your fault!

My Daddy had left the service, a proper free citizen.

And yet, because of you, my parents, one spent all our fortune to protect Mrs. Zhang, the other neglects her biological son and gives her all to Wei Yuanniang!

Mrs. Zhang, too, incurred Feng Yanting’s wrath.

What benefactor?

Yes, Mrs. Zhang did owe the Feng Family, but my grandpa’s life had paid that debt.

And still, Mrs. Zhang maintained the airs of a householder toward the Feng Family.

Nanny Zhao was her slave, bound by a contract in her hand, obligated to serve her.

But what about Feng Zhongliang and ”Gu Xiuniang”?

They committed their entire fortune to settle Mrs. Zhang’s affairs, such loyalty, such favor, and Mrs. Zhang—not only was she ungrateful, but she also acted as if it was her due.

Even when receiving Feng Zhongliang and his wife’s eager care, she still maintained her high and mighty, noble and dignified air of the Marchioness!

Hmph! Why?

She really thinks she’s still the Marchioness!

You’re worse off than a commoner now, you’re a criminal!

Of course, this kind of resentment was not yet very deep.

It was only when Feng Yanting witnessed how eagerly Feng Zhongliang and his wife attended to Mrs. Zhang and her daughter, when he overheard Feng Zhongliang sigh about spending so much money, that he began to harbor deep-seated resentment toward Mrs. Zhang and Nanny Zhao.

But this kind of resentment and bitterness, like a seed, quietly took root and sprouted in Feng Yanting’s heart.

”Alas, today we gave Mr. Qian another hundred taels of silver. Mom is right, the Marchioness and their lot just can’t keep going on like this. We bought a carriage so that they can take turns and have a sit in it, at least then they might just hold on.”

That day, Feng Zhongliang was once again sighing quietly to He Tiantian.

”...It’s a necessary evil, we can’t just watch the Marchioness and their kind work themselves to death.”

He Tiantian nodded in agreement, understandingly echoing his sentiments.

As she spoke, she didn’t forget to steal a glance at Feng Yanting.

And indeed, she saw a look of disgust on the face of this increasingly silent child, then He Tiantian contentedly curled the corners of her lips.

All along, Feng Zhongliang seldom discussed the Feng Family’s contributions to the Marquis Mansion in front of the child.

Since He Tiantian’s arrival, she had consciously guided Feng Zhongliang to start becoming accustomed to discussing their sacrifices in front of Feng Yanting.

As expected, when hearing firsthand about the Feng Family’s expenditure for the sake of the Marquis Mansion, almost to the point of risking ruin, Feng Yanting, a four- or five-year-old child, started to harbor animosity and detestation toward the once-respected Marchioness.

In the original script, Feng Yanting would accept his origins so readily not just because of the nobility of the Marquis Mansion, but also the profound affections shared with the Marchioness and Nanny Zhao played a significant role.
