The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 662: Chapter 266 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 10)_2

Perhaps they were even less fortunate than the common folk, after all, even ordinary citizens had their own homes.

And them?

Since they were commoners, then their children couldn’t be too spoiled.

Thus, seeing He Tiantian set rules for Feng Yanting, Feng Zhongliang went from initial discomfort and reluctance to slowly feeling that it was very correct.

”...Educating your children is indeed your responsibility as a mother, and since you believe this is suitable, then go ahead and do it!”

Although Feng Zhongliang felt somewhat heartbroken watching his son cry and make a fuss, he also felt that his wife had done nothing wrong.

Feng Yanting:...

After crying himself hoarse, Mom was still wearing a cold expression.

Daddy actually tried to intercede on his behalf, but was quickly shut down with a few words from Mom.

There were also Mrs. Zhang and Mother-in-law; they seemed like they hadn’t heard his crying at all, not even glancing his way.

Crying and crying, Feng Yanting could no longer continue.

He Tiantian saw that the timing was right and handed Feng Yanting a handkerchief, ”Do you realize your mistake now? Will you still throw a tantrum in the future?”

Feng Yanting cried spasmodically, his little face turned red, and his eyes, very similar to Mrs. Zhang’s, brimmed with tears.

He pursed his lips with grievance, still feeling some injustice in his heart, but Mom’s words finally gave him a way out.

”Mmm! Mom, I was wrong, I, I won’t cry and fuss anymore!”

His chubby little hands took the handkerchief and clumsily wiped his own face.

Feng Yanting felt for the first time that his mother was so authoritative.

For the first time, a concept also emerged in his young mind: not everything can be resolved with tears and tantrums, and parents and elders don’t indulge without principle or limits!

And the most important point: Miss Wei Yuanniang was indeed more privileged than himself!

Wei Yuanniang:...

Seeing Feng Yanting sadly wiping away tears, she inexplicably felt a kind of satisfaction.

The dark aura about her seemed to lighten considerably.

He Tiantian, with her keen sense of emotions, slightly curved her lips.

”It’s good that you know your mistake!”

He Tiantian continued to discipline Feng Yanting, none the less, forgetting what had caused the cry in the first place.

”Yanting, are you still hungry? Mom will get you a cornbread!”

Originally, Feng Yanting wasn’t hungry; it was simply that he heard Wei Yuanniang mention osmanthus cake and saw his birth mother favoring Wei Yuanniang more, which triggered his jealousy, prompting him to demand.

However, after a fit of crying, Feng Yanting really did feel a bit hungry.

Hearing his birth mother asking him, he quickly nodded his little head, pitifully uttering, ”Hungry!”

He Tiantian took a clean handkerchief from her bundle, which held two cornbreads mixed with coarse grains.

Since they were freshly steamed that morning, they weren’t as hot now, but they still retained some warmth.

Most importantly, they weren’t too hard.

He Tiantian broke off a piece and handed it to Feng Yanting.

Though Feng Yanting wasn’t accustomed to such plain food, hunger made him less picky.

He nibbled gently, and while the texture wasn’t as good as fine grains, it had a unique fragrance.

And, compared to the black cornbreads that the Marquis Mansion’s family had at the inn, they were much better.

Feng Yanting bit into the cornbread, while amongst the crowd of travelers, a few young masters and misses from the Marquis Mansion swallowed hard with envy.

These past days, with Feng Zhongliang not arranging things too well, the Marquis Mansion’s family had been eating the standard fare of black cornbread and rotten vegetable porridge.

Such meals were hard enough for adults to stomach, let alone those young, pampered children.

They forced down a few bites, nearly tearing their throats up, then cried, refusing to eat any more.

Now on the road, both tired and hungry, they suddenly smelled the food and couldn’t hold back any longer.

Although Feng Yanting was young, he was clever and perceptive, noticing those few young masters and misses drooling over his food, and his slightly disheartened mood suddenly soared.

After all, people find comfort in comparison.

He might not compare to the Eldest Miss, but, compared to other young masters and misses of the Marquis Mansion, he was quite fortunate, right?

Amid several intense gazes, Feng Yanting joyfully finished his piece of cornbread.

Seeing him eat so heartily, Wei Yuanniang also began to feel hungry.

But before she could even speak up, He Tiantian asked her warmly, ”Eldest Miss, would you like a piece of osmanthus cake to fill you up?”

Wei Yuanniang:... The feeling of being cared for so meticulously was truly wonderful.

Suddenly, she had the illusion that she was the one and only for ”Gu Xiuniang.”

She nodded lightly, and with a cheerful voice, Wei Yuanniang replied, ”Mhm!”
