The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 673: Chapter 270 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 14)

”Aunt, I want to learn embroidery!”

The already six-year-old Wei Yuanniang sat obediently beside He Tiantian, her voice gentle but her attitude resolute.

Having arrived in Capital City for a year, Wei Yuanniang had experienced the Heavenly Prison, exile, redemption, and other ordeals, becoming more steady and precocious.

She followed her mother when the people of the Feng Family took them in, witnessing firsthand how Mr. and Mrs. Feng continued to serve Mrs. Zhang as if she were still a benefactor.

Mrs. Zhang, despite having fallen from the clouds into the mortal world, had not forgotten the dignity and splendor of the Marquis Mansion.

She, she... As a daughter, Wei Yuanniang really couldn’t bring herself to describe her own mother with words too unpleasant.

But she always felt this was not right.

Especially when Shuang Jiang suddenly ran off to serve next door at Feng Zhongliang’s, and Wei Yuanniang herself was packed off to be with ”Gu Xiuniang”, she slowly started to understand some things.

And the more she understood, the more anguished Wei Yuanniang felt—her own mother’s behavior of feasting on others’ flesh and blood while still plotting against them really couldn’t be considered virtuous, it was even close to shameless.

Realizing this, the young Wei Yuanniang was overwhelmed with shame and anger.

Nanny Zhao and the others said behind the scenes that ”Gu Xiuniang” took her to the next door to care for her in order to disgust and restrain Mrs. Zhang, wanting to wear her down.

But Wei Yuanniang knew very well in her heart that Aunt Feng was very good to her.

From the journey to the Capital when they were escorted, Aunt Feng had given her unique affection and concern.

Although Aunt Feng said she was repaying a kindness, being loyal to a benefactor on behalf of the Feng Family, Wei Yuanniang had a feeling deep down—Gu Xiuniang’s affection for her had nothing to do with anyone else.

Just like her mother, Mrs. Zhang, who gave heartfelt love to Feng Yanting.

And Aunt Feng also liked her, this Eldest Miss of the Wei Family, for no apparent reason.

Aunt Feng was so good to her, even more considerate of her future than her biological mother.

She taught her to read, accompanied her in practicing her writing, and even her daily clothing, food, lodging, and living were all very meticulous.

Her treatment in the Feng Family was ostensibly at the same level as Feng Yanting’s, but in reality, Wei Yuanniang felt she was treated even more attentively and exquisitely.

Unfortunately, her own mother not only failed to appreciate Aunt Feng’s efforts but also, also kept trying to scheme against others.

Sometimes, seeing Shuang Jiang dare to provoke Aunt Feng in front of Mrs. Zhang and Nanny Zhao’s indulgence, Wei Yuanniang felt so furious and simultaneously wished she could just disappear into a hole in the ground.

”Mother, do you still have any conscience at all? Any sense of shame?”

”When you do these things, don’t you forget that the place you live in, the food you eat, the clothes you wear, the things you use, are all earned by Aunt Feng’s desperate Embroidery?!”

Wei Yuanniang didn’t know how many times she had screamed these words in her heart.

But she was too young, and Mrs. Zhang simply ignored her.

Moreover, Wei Yuanniang had always had the intuition that her biological mother did not like her.

To say Mrs. Zhang valued males over females? Resented her because she couldn’t inherit a title or establish her own family?

Yet, Mrs. Zhang seemed very close to the other three concubine daughters in the house.

With Mrs. Zhang not fond of Wei Yuanniang, naturally, she didn’t take her opinions and attitudes very seriously.

Wei Yuanniang had a premonition, if she were to speak for Aunt Feng, Mrs. Zhang wouldn’t just ignore her, she would likely blame Aunt Feng for instigation and even be angry with her, the daughter, for being thoughtless!

After much deliberation, the only solution Wei Yuanniang could think of was to diligently learn Embroidery and help Aunt Feng earn money!

That way, the guilt and sense of wrongdoing in her heart might be lessened a bit.

”Yuanniang, do you like Embroidery?”

He Tiantian, as an old demon who had lived through countless lives in the novel world, could of course see the thoughts of such a young girl.

She didn’t agree right away, but instead asked softly.

”...” Wei Yuanniang was silent for a moment.

She wanted to answer ”like”, because she knew that only with such an answer would Aunt teach her.

But Aunt had taught her not to lie or deceive her elders.

Wei Yuanniang had already come to regard ”Gu Xiuniang” as her closest and most trusted elder. She never intended to deceive her.

”Although I don’t particularly like it, I think Embroidery is very useful. And as a woman, it’s something one should learn anyway.”

Wei Yuanniang quickly came up with a proper response.

”Embroidery is indeed very useful, allowing a woman to support her family!”

He Tiantian said with a smile, ”However, our Gu Family’s Embroidery Skill is different from others. If one doesn’t truly love it, it’s hard to learn its essence!”
