Chapter 648: Chapter 42: Head-On Confrontation

After the deafening noise of Su Xiao crashing into the mountain diminished, the members of the Travel Group all turned towards the round entrance leading deep into the mountain.

Clatter, a few pieces of rubble fell from the top of the cave, leaving the entrance in deathly silence.

”Is it over?”

Machi stared intently at the entrance.

”Not certain, there’s a good chance it is over.”

The Hero’s eyelids drooped slightly, feeling somewhat drowsy, having drained too much Nen, even to the point of exhaustion.

”Let Wokim continue.”

”No way, he just put all his strength into two straight punches. Even if it’s Wokim, the body has limits. To keep fighting, he needs a break, and I can’t control Wokim’s specific actions.”

Hearing the Hero’s response, Machi tilted her head to dodge Sick Dog’s side kick.

Sick Dog and Hao Zhu, with hearts pounding, looked towards the entrance, praying that Su Xiao wasn’t dead. If Su Xiao died, they wouldn’t last long either.

Not only were those present watching the entrance, the nearby Contractors watching the battle were also staring at it. Some of these Contractors were questioning life; if this wasn’t the Hunter World, they would seriously suspect Su Xiao was a Second Tier Contractor or higher.

”Big brother, it seems like Brother Ruthless is done for. Should we join the fun?”

”Hold steady, third brother. We’ll just observe. That ’Super Saiyan’ down there is too fierce.”

”Third brother, big brother is right.”

The National Team Brothers each held a bottle of beer, with the third brother even clutching a chicken leg.

These brothers generally wouldn’t take advantage in chaos; their hobbies were being cheeky and carefree in the Derivative World. Being happy was most important.

Wokim stood unmoving, suffused with gold Mind Qi. Upon closer inspection, his muscle-bound body was already covered in fine cuts, with some muscle tissue slightly torn.

Tap, tap, tap...

Footsteps echoed from inside the entrance, followed by a bout of violent coughing.

Su Xiao held his mouth with his left hand, coughing and spitting blood through his fingers, nearly getting killed instantly by one punch from Wokim.

The dozens of Counter Shields floating around him dimmed somewhat. If hit with excessive force, the duration of the Counter Shield would reduce.

A bottle of No.1 Potion appeared in his hand, which Su Xiao gulped down. Blue steel shadow energy surged within him as the Hashirama cells in the potion were annihilated, rapidly healing his injuries.

The surroundings were pitch black, with faint moonlight illuminating the path ahead, as Su Xiao slowly walked toward the entrance.

As Su Xiao walked out of the cave, the members of the Travel Group felt a chill down their hearts.

”He’s still not dead, this guy is tough. Is it because of those floating energy shields?”

Machi tightened the Telekinesis wire in her hand as she spoke, slicing Sick Dog, who was tightly bound, into parts. After dealing with Sick Dog, Machi didn’t assist Wokim but instead went to aid Shizuku, who was struggling somewhat against Hao Zhu due to prior injuries.

Hao Zhu internally crumbled, wanting to escape, but Shizuku swung the Bulging Eye Fish to trap him, unable to break free temporarily.

At the center of the valley, Wokim, after standing still for a dozen seconds, turned his head to look at Su Xiao. He had only one Intention now: to kill the second enemy, who was Su Xiao.

With a roaring sound, Wokim vanished, his insane speed leaving Su Xiao speechless.

Holding his long knife, Su Xiao looked around. Another straight punch might be more than he could handle; his entire body ached faintly, with bones on the brink of breaking apart.

A rapid sound of wind came, and Wokim appeared before Su Xiao, maintaining the original posture, arm bent, fist clenched as a straight punch flew out.

As the punch was thrown, gold Mind Qi exploded from Wokim’s fist. This was Wokim’s Super Destruction Fist, and an upgraded version at that.

Even an ordinary straight punch almost killed Su Xiao. Could he survive being hit by this punch?

Su Xiao’s mind raced, the fist vastly enlarging in his vision, filling it completely.

Dodging was never Su Xiao’s fighting style. The choice of the long knife as his weapon showed he liked direct clashes.

The Counter Shield, formed in a circle protecting Su Xiao, rapidly expanded outward. Though it could withstand Wokim’s attack, it also made it easier for the enemy to knock Su Xiao away.

The moment the Counter Shield was withdrawn, Wokim’s fist reached.

Su Xiao’s pupil slightly contracted as he desperately captured Wokim’s movement, everything around him seeming to slow down at this moment.

As the fist neared, Su Xiao’s nerve reflex speed showed its value, capturing Wokim’s afterimage-speed head movement.

Su Xiao’s right arm muscles slightly bulged as all his Mana was converted into blue steel shadow energy, channeling it all into Dragon Slash, making it appear as a light blue energy blade.

An ordinary slash was unleashed. Though the knife was drawn later, the slash was faster than Wokim’s punch.

Clang!

Boom!

A massive blade aura flew out, slashing toward the nearby mountain top, slicing it diagonally.

Su Xiao brushed past Wokim, who was covered in gold Mind Qi, with only one arm remaining. The arm that threw the punch had flown over a hundred meters away.

With a swish, Dragon Slaying Thrust pierced into a rock ten meters away, half an arm still clutching its hilt, the cut surface rough and uneven.

Su Xiao’s hand wielding the knife broke. This was something he expected when enduring Wokim’s punch. In the past, this would be a terrible outcome, but with that woman around, losing an arm was trivial. He intentionally chose this, as it was the choice with the highest chance of winning the fight.

After brushing past Wokim, Su Xiao suddenly turned to charge at him.

Wokim likewise turned instantly, but the deep slash across his chest paused his movement.

It was this fraction of a gap that allowed Su Xiao to leap, knees bending fiercely upon landing on Wokim’s shoulders.

He clamped his legs tightly, clutching Wokim’s head as Su Xiao’s left hand, clad in an ardent red metal armguard, reached for Wokim’s face, fingers like hooks, inserting into Wokim’s eyes.

A gritty sensation came through, Wokim’s physique was monstrously robust. Even the seemingly weak eyes were far stronger than those of ordinary people.

Su Xiao applied full force, and with the sound of a squelch, his two fingers impaled Wokim’s eye sockets. This wasn’t the end; he hooked his fingers and pulled hard outward.

Wokim’s two eyeballs were forcibly gouged by Su Xiao, his clamped legs tilting sideways, intending to twist Wokim’s neck.

Suddenly, immense force struck from the side, and as the world spun, Su Xiao was sent flying, like a failing plane making an emergency landing, skidding far across the rocky ground.

After stopping, Su Xiao’s vision turned scarlet, feeling as though his entire skeleton was about to fall apart. He took out another bottle of No.1 Potion, expressionlessly drinking it down before standing again.

His gaze swept the surrounding valley, looking for any Contractors trying to take advantage. Anyone who dared, he would find a way to finish them, as the excruciating pain across his body fed his ferocity.

The Contractors had watched the fight between him and Wokim from start to finish. For some, it might have been their first encounter with this kind of reckless combat style.

Su Xiao glanced at his remaining half of the right arm. Likewise, his right chest had a large indented area, with broken ribs protruding into one lung, causing a dull ache with every breath.

He walked to Dragon Slash and drew it out single-handedly, adept with the knife in his left as well.
