Chapter 621: Chapter 15: The Behemoth

The temporary team was formed, although Old Wolf was the nominal leader, Mr. A held more authority within the group.

Old Wolf was well aware of this; the events that transpired made it clear to him that now was not the time to be at odds with Mr. A, and besides, he had become the nominal leader of the team.

”Everyone? What’s our plan moving forward?”

Mr. A spoke up, and everyone in the restaurant exchanged glances, ultimately looking at Old Wolf, meaning clearly that he was the leader, and he should decide.

Old Wolf’s eye twitched. He didn’t know much about the Cyclops, even though he had read the information, there were many details unknown to him.

”This...”

Old Wolf was quickly thinking it over, and after a moment, he came up with a strategy that was a win-win.

”Mr. A, I’m not very familiar with the Cyclops, so you can handle the pre-battle arrangements, and I’ll be responsible for the battle command. If I’m the team captain, then you can serve as the deputy captain.”

As soon as Old Wolf finished speaking, there was a bout of dry coughing.

Su Xiao was holding a glass of orange juice, genuinely choked, deputy captain? With only 15 people, they even need a deputy captain? These Contractors really know how to play.

Mr. A pushed his glasses up his nose with his middle finger.

”That’s acceptable.”

The surrounding Contractors were slightly surprised that Mr. A actually agreed.

Bubu Wang, chewing on a toothpick, was dumbfounded, the story was becoming increasingly vibrant.

”Everyone, in my original plan, 1 PM this afternoon is the best time to strike. It’s already noon, so you might as well have a meal here; an hour should be enough for us to prepare.”

Mr. A took out a sketch, displaying the terrain near the Cyclops.

”The Cyclops’s activities are confined to this area. After several verifications, even if provoked by an enemy, it wouldn’t easily leave this area, though the exact reason is unknown.”

Mr. A drew a circle on the map with a diameter of a few kilometers.

”This is the team formation I’ve drafted...”

Mr. A began explaining his plan, which wasn’t overly complex: the tank would be at the front, followed by close combat, then mages or healers, with the snipers, including Su Xiao, positioned the farthest away.

Su Xiao was placed 900 meters away from the team. This distance was quite safe; at least the Cyclops couldn’t reach him.

”Does anyone have any objections?”

No one spoke up; Mr. A’s plan was quite thorough.

”Then everyone, get ready to set out.”

Old Wolf, holding a magic wand, was now donned in a mage robe, magic energy surging around him.

Feeling this surge of magic energy, Su Xiao raised an eyebrow, realizing Old Wolf was stronger than expected.

The team departed from the restaurant, heading towards a location 15 kilometers from Yukexin City, encountering no hindrance along the way. Upon reaching the designated venue, they found a basin-shaped valley, resembling a bowl.

Climbing to the high point at the edge of the basin, the forward-reaching Contractors immediately crouched down.

”How is it? Still inside?”

Mr. A lowered his voice, feeling somewhat excited upon observing the reaction of the Contractor in front.

”Still there, but...”

The Contractor hesitated, his face a bit uneasy.

Mr. A slowly walked up the slope, and after observing the scene beyond, his jaw muscle tensed.

In the basin below, a giant roughly 5 meters tall was sitting at the center of the basin; its body structure resembling a human with fully developed limbs and head.

However, the giant’s skin was a deep purple, with a short red horn on its head, and its mouth was grinning up to its neck, displaying sharp fangs.

Most notably, the giant had a single eye, taking up a third of its face, densely packed with pupils, at least a dozen of them.

This was the Cyclops, now sitting cross-legged on the ground, savoring a human leg in its grip.

To the Cyclops from the Dark Continent, humans were simply delectable, with tender flesh devoid of strange odors.

As a lower-middle class creature from the Dark Continent, the Cyclops often struggled to fill its stomach, but upon waking up, it discovered that strong foes vanished, and there weren’t adverse environments threatening its life here, clean water was available everywhere, and weak prey, like humans, were abundant.

Even though it suddenly found itself in ’Heaven’, the Cyclops didn’t dare stray too far from its current location, a survival instinct honed from being on the Dark Continent.

The Cyclops gorged amidst the basin, blood splattering, occasionally emitting grumbling sounds.

The Contractors on the hillside were already raring to go, just waiting for the command.

”Shi, any issues?”

Mr. A looked at Shi, the main tank, who was mostly silent.

”No problem.”

Shi flexed his shoulders, and a tower shield appeared in his hands, with a flame motif on its surface, appearing to burn, with light golden luminescence flowing along its edges, making the Contractors swallow their saliva.

Old Wolf’s gaze was drawn too, seeing light gold equipment from such proximity for the first time.

”Heh~”

Shi let out a cold laugh, with a whoosh, flames erupted from the tower shield, and not just that, they began spreading across his body.

Moments later, Shi became like a child of the sun, the intense heat felt even from a few meters away.

”Follow up.”

Shi slammed onto the ground and charged towards the basin. His speed wasn’t fast, but each step was firm.

”Pay attention to the formation.”

As Shi charged forward, Old Wolf bellowed, and all Contractors advanced, except Su Xiao and Bubu Wang.

Su Xiao calmly retrieved a mat from his storage space, spread it on the ground, and lay on it while preparing the Spider Queen.

At a distance of 900 meters, Su Xiao adjusted the ’Optical Infrared Detector’ to 18x, cocked the gun, and prepared to fire.

While Su Xiao was leisurely preparing, the situation below the basin was quite different.

Shi charged ahead towards the Cyclops, leaving flame footprints on the ground he trod.

The Cyclops, enjoying its meal, was suddenly disturbed, which made it a bit angry, it tossed the mutilated human torso away and slowly rose up.

The 5-meter-tall Cyclops had an impressive visual impact. It might not be the tallest among monsters, but its body was packed with muscle, and the single eye filled with numerous pupils emitted an inexplicable sense of dread.

”Little bugs (Dark Continent language)” ℴ

The Cyclops spoke with a peculiar intonation, but the Contractors understood, having paid a 100 Paradise coin language fee upon entering the Hunter World.

No one paid heed to the Cyclops’s words as Shi, brandishing his shield, dashed forward. As he reached three meters from the Cyclops, Shi stomped the ground, sending a ring of fire spreading out.

With a whoosh, the flame ring hit the Cyclops’s chest, its deep purple skin showing no reaction, seemingly rendering Shi’s attack ineffective.

In reality, this was not the case. The Cyclops’s eye widened in anger, appearing to endure immense pain.

”Roar!!”

The Cyclops let out an enraged roar, its monocular eye locked onto Shi, the hatred firmly anchored.
