Chapter 639: Chapter 33: Black Rose

Auction Site Ruins.

A large group of gang members hovered nearby; the area within 300 meters of the auction site had turned to scorched earth, with several spots on the ground vitrified due to high temperatures.

”What on earth is this...”

”Quick! Find the boss.”

”Who was it? What was with that small sun earlier.”

Gang members were in an uproar; all the gang leaders previously gathered at the auction site had disappeared. The ones able to attend the first auction were all key members of the Ten Old Men’s Power. Their sudden disappearance is predictable in its consequences.

The Dark Beast Sick Dog walked on the scorched ground, his expression stunned. Just half an hour ago, he had witnessed that small sun with his own eyes.

”Sick Dog, have you found anything?”

The Phantom Beast Earthworm stepped forward; nearby gang members quickly backed away, as the sight of the earthworm was too daunting.

”Nothing significant, but the small sun just now must be Telekinesis Ability, of such a level...”

Sick Dog didn’t continue speaking, his eyes showing a hint of fear.

”Indeed, if we take that attack head-on, we’d surely die. But there’s something I’m really curious about—who exactly was fighting against such a monster.”

The Earthworm squinted his dim yellow eyes. His only thought right now was to hide temporarily; he didn’t want to battle someone capable of releasing a small sun. Once engaged, the outcome was indisputable: he would certainly die. Unfortunately, his life was in the hands of the Ten Old Men.

”Do we even need to ask? Anyone who can fight such a monster is no ordinary person. Look over there.”

Sick Dog pointed to the auction house building, which had been charred into a frame. Though the auction house was in complete ruin, there were thin slashes on the outer wall.

”Is that... cleave?”

”Yes, such cleave, along with the people present at that time, you should be able to guess who’s fighting.”

The Phantom Beast Earthworm nodded.

”What do we do now?”

”Contact the boss. What else can we do?”

Sick Dog took out his phone and dialed. The Ten Old Men were anxiously awaiting news, as the first auction hadn’t even begun before it was forced to stop, damaging the Ten Old Men’s Power’s reputation.

Moreover, several hotels near the auction site housed important guests, and their disappearance was also a troublesome matter.

After reporting to the Ten Old Men, Sick Dog hung up and turned to look at a woman behind him.

”Aren’t you going to find your ’master’? How does it feel to be given away by your father?”

The woman lowered her head and remained silent.

”Hey, we’re talking to you.”

The Earthworm noticed the woman didn’t respond and seemed displeased, raising his hand to slap her.

”Are you crazy?”

Sick Dog quickly grabbed the Earthworm’s arm. He could mock the woman with a few words, but it would be bad if he left a mark on her face. She was the ’property’ of that monster, and no one was sure if that monster was dead.

”Tch, are you so scared you lost your nerve, Sick Dog?”

The Earthworm shook off Sick Dog displeasingly and ignored Black Mary beside him.

Black Mary kept her head down, looking at her fair hands.

”Am I... a private possession? It seems... yes. Father already gave me to someone else. But when did that happen? I can’t remember. My head hurts.”

Black Mary lifted her head, her eyes dim and dull.

”Huh? Am I already dead? Why...”

A bewildered Black Mary took out her phone and dialed a number.

...

In a distant neighborhood from the auction site, Su Xiao was sitting on a rooftop, considering the Travel Group’s plans after this. With Feitan dead, it wouldn’t be long before the Travel Group noticed. Given the Travel Group’s approach, they might seek revenge.

In the original story, after Wokim died, the Travel Group sought revenge, obviously connected to Kurapika capturing Wokim through a sneak attack.

This case with Su Xiao was somewhat different. He fought Feitan directly and eventually killed him. With the Travel Group Leader’s peculiar mindset, whether they would seek revenge remained uncertain.

In the original story, Hisoka joined the Travel Group after defeating its members. From Su Xiao’s conjecture, Hisoka probably explained to the Travel Group Leader before challenging the members to join afterward.

As for Su Xiao, who opposed the Travel Group and killed Feitan, his situation differs from Hisoka’s back then, making his chances of joining the Travel Group very slim.

Thus, whether the Travel Group would come for revenge was a fifty-fifty chance. They might come, or they might not.

Su Xiao leaned towards them coming, habitually considering things from the worst-case perspective, given his usual bad luck.

As Su Xiao was pondering, the phone in his coat pocket rang. He took it out and was momentarily surprised.

”Huh, that woman didn’t die?”

Picking up the call, Su Xiao didn’t say a word.

”Master Bai Ye, it’s Black Mary.”

”...”

”Master Bai Ye?”

”How did you survive?”

”I... don’t know.”

A silence fell over the call.

”You don’t know? Come see me, I’m at...”

Su Xiao hung up the phone, his eyes slightly squinted. Previously, Black Mary was in the auction house. She was just an ordinary person, and with the small sun’s high temperature, survival should’ve been impossible.

Fifteen minutes later, the already somewhat ditzy, now completely dazed Black Mary arrived at a nearby street.

Su Xiao leaped down from the rooftop, landing silently behind Black Mary.

”Master Bai Ye...”

”Call me Mister Bai Ye or just Bai Ye; the title ’Master’ is quite disgusting.”

”Alright.”

Black Mary turned around, and Su Xiao noticed that her pupils had turned green. He distinctly remembered that Black Mary’s pupils used to be black.

”Strange...”

Su Xiao examined Black Mary from head to toe; her body, height, and appearance hadn’t changed, yet Su Xiao sensed a special aura about her.

After a long observation, Su Xiao still detected nothing abnormal.

”Your aura.”

”Huh?”

Black Mary took a few steps back, with her dim eyes regaining some brightness.

Her memory gradually cleared, her body shivered, and she reverted to her initial demeanor upon meeting Su Xiao. Upon seeing him, she swallowed hard with some difficulty.

Su Xiao stepped forward and grabbed Black Mary’s arm, rolling up her sleeve.

”Huh?”

Su Xiao pinched the skin on Black Mary’s arm.

”The Black Rose tattoo is gone.”

Su Xiao released Black Mary’s arm. She looked at her right arm, which was indeed smooth and pale; the black rose tattoo that once covered most of it had disappeared.

”That’s right, where did that tattoo go?”

Black Mary raised her arm, and astonishingly, a black rose tattoo gradually appeared on it. As it emerged, a petal from the black rose slowly fell off.
