Chapter 628: Chapter 22: Various... (Third Update)

Having one of his ears torn off while alive, the Sick Dog was writhing in pain on the ground. After a long while, the pain finally subsided. He was furious inside, but he dared not show it on his face, having already witnessed Su Xiao’s ferocity.

”Youke Hotel, don’t make me repeat a third time.”

The Sick Dog gritted his teeth and stood up trembling, with knife wounds spurting blood.

”Let me... change my clothes.”

At the moment, the Sick Dog was covered in mud. His status within the gang wasn’t low, and going out like this was very humiliating.

”Alright.”

Breathing a sigh of relief, the Sick Dog walked out of the alley and into a clothing store around the corner.

Ten minutes later, the Sick Dog emerged from the store, having changed into a set of clean clothes, wrapped in white cloth strips around his body and head. A thin man by nature, he resembled a junkie, and his significant blood loss now made it seem like he could kick the bucket at any moment.

”The Youke Hotel isn’t far from here.”

The Sick Dog had already seen the situation clearly. Not to mention the thin metal wire wrapped around his neck, ready to sever his head at any moment, he was no match for Su Xiao in terms of power either. This had been proven earlier when his proud neurotoxin had no effect at all.

The Sick Dog walked in front, with Su Xiao behind him, connected by a barely noticeable thin wire.

Driving through the streets, it wasn’t long before a resplendent hotel appeared ahead, standing over 40 floors tall. According to an elder from the Ten Old Men, he would be waiting for Su Xiao on the 30th floor.

A row of men in black stood at the hotel entrance, each wearing a neat suit, with a bulge at their waist indicating concealed firearms.

There’s a saying that offending one of the Ten Old Men is like offending all the gangs across the Six Continents. Despite how catchy that sounds, looking at the power of the Yin Beasts, the Ten Old Men’s power isn’t as fearsome as imagined; it’s only threatening in the world of ordinary humans.

If the Phantom Troupe faced off against the Ten Old Men’s power without interference from other forces, the Troupe could handily crush the Ten Old Men’s power.

The Phantom Troupe, a gang of thieves, had their eyes on goods from the auction house and a showdown with the Ten Old Men’s power was inevitable.

Joining the Ten Old Men’s power would mean opposing the Phantom Troupe. But so what? There are indeed members of the Troupe who could kill Su Xiao, but they certainly wouldn’t be able to crush him.

Within the Troupe, there are four people Su Xiao fears most: Chrollo Lucilfer (the leader), Feitan, Nobunaga, and Phinks.

The leader is high in intelligence and troublesome in ability; Feitan’s big move is extremely fierce, and there’s no way to withstand that miniature sun unscathed.

Nobunaga is incredibly strong in one-on-one combat, generally speaking, those who use swords aren’t weak in duels.

As for Phinks, his revival ability is astounding; the more turns his arm spins, the stronger the punch. If he doesn’t lose his arm from too many turns, turning tens of times, he could potentially perish together with Su Xiao.

Except for these four, the other members of the Troupe either get countered by Su Xiao or have relatively balanced abilities, posing little threat.

Shaking his head to dismiss these thoughts, Su Xiao pushed the Sick Dog’s back, gesturing him to lead the way.

Stumbling from the push, the Sick Dog dared not say anything. Holding an ear in his hand, he buried his head and walked towards the hotel.

The first floor of the hotel was the lobby, crowded with men in suits, a display of the Ten Old Men’s deterrence, or rather, the way gangs operated.

Su Xiao paid no attention to those thuggish gang members. If he were to unleash violence, this place would become hell on earth in less than two minutes. To ordinary people, Su Xiao was already at the level of a monster. No, even to most Second-Tier contractors, he was a monster level. Long ago, his power already severely mismatched his Reincarnation Branding Level, creating a virtuous cycle.

Riding the elevator up from the first floor, it slowly ascended.

Ding!

The elevator stopped at the 12th floor, and in Su Xiao’s hand appeared Dragon Slash in its scabbard.

The Dark Purple Scabbard [Divine Spirit Afterglow] was exceptionally ornate, combined with the unadorned scabbard of Dragon Slash, presenting a strikingly unique beauty. Anyone seeing Dragon Slash for the first time would want this sword; its shape and quality were both impeccable.

As the elevator doors opened, three men stood outside; Su Xiao recognized two of them as the Yin Beast Earthworm and Bovypig.

”Sorry to disturb you.”

Bovypig had just tried to step into the elevator when Su Xiao pointed the tip of the scabbard at him.

”Get out.”

Bovypig was about to speak when he noticed the Sick Dog signaling with his eyes.

”Sorry to disturb you.”

Bovypig smiled as he backed out of the elevator, his small eyes continuously glued to Su Xiao.

The elevator door slowly closed, and Bovypig took out his phone, dialing it. The other side picked up immediately.

”He’s gone up, very strong. Based on the current investigation, he doesn’t belong to an opposing force. As for which force he serves, it’s still unknown.”

Bovypig quietly listened on the phone, agreeing a few times before hanging up.

”What did the Ten Old Men say?”

The Yin Beast Earthworm, like a soft-bodied creature, spoke.

”They didn’t say much.”

”Is the matter of Leech being killed just going to be forgotten?”

The Yin Beast Earthworm’s dull yellow eyes held dissatisfaction.

”I would very much like for it to be forgotten. Leech was beheaded, and the Sick Dog is half dead. If it’s about revenge, who do you think should go?”

Upon hearing Bovypig’s words, a chill ran through the Yin Beast Earthworm.

Who indeed? As the Ten Old Men’s strongest subordinates, it would naturally be them going, and ultimately, their deaths.

”Well... I also hope it just ends like that.”

”Hm, now nine out of the Ten Old Men agree to end this matter to minimize losses. Even though we’re a gang, we don’t head-on with overly strong enemies, that would be foolish.”

Bovypig was right. Despite the Ten Old Men’s power being a gang, when faced with someone of Su Xiao’s strength, they would first try to negotiate peace and pull him in. Only as a last resort would they hire potent Telekinesis Assassins to kill Su Xiao.

Famous assassin organizations in the world aren’t cheap. With the Ten Old Men’s financial resources, hiring an assassin capable of killing Su Xiao would come with a staggering price.

To the Ten Old Men, as long as they don’t fully engage in open warfare, there remains a possibility of negotiation. As for Leech, the dead hold no value—blood debts and blood repayments aren’t the way of the gang, that’s just a glamorized portrayal in films.

The elevator gradually rose to the 30th floor.

With a ding, the elevator opened.

Seeing the scene before him, Su Xiao’s brow twitched, Bu Bu Wang’s eyes widened, and the Sick Dog grinned sinisterly.

The layout of the 30th floor was simple; on the inner wall was a large screen, with only a big bed placed in the vast room, making it appear empty.

But presently, the 30th floor was anything but empty. The room was filled with scantily clad women, at least a hundred of them, ranging from mature dames to bunny-eared girls...

”Greetings, my lord, welcome to Youke Hotel.”

A large group of women simultaneously bowed and then approached, some even pulling their clothes off their shoulders.

Su Xiao looked towards the large screen in the room; the image on the screen was of a man with short yellow hair, a square face, and a scar across his mouth, appearing to be around 40 years old.

”Friend, this small gift is a token of respect, enjoy freely. These women are all carefully selected. But before indulging, what do you say to releasing the Sick Dog? After all, nobody enjoys doing it with someone watching.”

No need to elaborate; the man on the screen was undoubtedly one of the Ten Old Men. They don’t easily show up, especially when dealing with someone as dangerous as Su Xiao, none of them dared come to Youke Hotel. Without possessing at least this level of caution, the Ten Old Men’s power would have long been eliminated.
