Chapter 627: Chapter 21: Sick Dog

Releasing the handle of the knife, Su Xiao opened the nearby window. A slightly fat man with his throat pierced hung in midair, his limbs weakly struggling, his eyes rolling back.

Su Xiao’s knife was sudden, and it took some luck to pierce the enemy’s throat.

”You bastard...”

The slightly fat man with the pierced throat looked at Su Xiao, clutching the blade of the Dragon Slash with both hands to avoid falling.

The Boundary Line shot out, binding the opponent, and Su Xiao pulled the Dragon Slash out of the wall. As the Boundary Line tightened, the slightly fat man was forcibly dragged into the room from the window, staining the carpet with a large patch of blood.

The slightly fat man lay on the carpet, with obvious knife wounds on his throat.

”What’s up?”

Su Xiao stood in front of the slightly fat man. The man sneaking up on him in this manner was definitely not with good intentions.

”I’ve lost feeling in my legs.”

The slightly fat man clutched his throat, his speech somewhat unclear, looking viciously and madly at Su Xiao: ”Do you know who you offended? I’m...”

Before the slightly fat man could finish his sentence, Su Xiao’s long knife slashed down, severing the arm pointed towards him. The man rolled on the ground in pain, gripping the severed limb, the excruciating pain from the Blue Steel Shadow Energy making him writhe like a shrimp out of water.

”I’ll give you one chance to reorganize your words.”

”Wait, wait, I’m the Phantom Beast Leech, under the Ten Old Man’s command. Let’s talk.”

The slightly fat man was the Phantom Beast Leech, who was instantly killed by the Phantom Troupe’s Wokim in the original story. The reason for seeking out Su Xiao might be related to the Cyclops.

”Oh? Under the command of the Ten Old Man, what’s your purpose?”

Just as Su Xiao started speaking, hurried footsteps came from outside the door. Hearing these footsteps, the Phantom Beast Leech’s eyes filled with murder; his partner had arrived, and he seemed to already see the image of the enemy’s body full of leeches, struggling in agony.

Bam!

The door was kicked open, the leech let out a short scream, and as someone rushed into the room, the scream abruptly stopped.

A skinny, full-of-fangs afro-haired man burst into the room, his pupils contracting upon seeing the situation in the room. The intruder’s name was Sick Dog, one of the Ten Dark Beasts.

A head rolled to Sick Dog’s feet—it was the head of the Phantom Beast Leech.

”Too late.”

Sick Dog kicked away the leech’s head, looking at Su Xiao with cold eyes.

”Dare to kill a Ten Dark Beast, don’t even think about leaving Yukexin alive. We’ll hunt you to the ends of the earth.”

Although Sick Dog was making threats, his steps were gradually retreating. The unexplained death of the leech made Sick Dog wary of Su Xiao.

”Is this all your Dark Beast is capable of?”

Su Xiao looked Sick Dog up and down. The other didn’t seem dangerous to him, and as for the earlier leech, he was even more unimpressive—his nerve reflex speed was just slightly above that of an ordinary person. Dodging Su Xiao’s stab would have been impossible.

Being scrutinized by Su Xiao like this made Sick Dog’s heart flutter, as if being stared down by a beast.

”Attack.”

Sick Dog shouted, and the gang members behind him charged in, guns in hand. Instantly, dozens of people rushed into the room.

A metal wire suddenly tightened, and all the gang members who rushed into the room came to an halt.

Thud, thud...

Severed limbs scattered on the ground, the rich scent of blood spread, soaking the carpet. These gang members were just ordinary people; the outcome of facing Su Xiao was predictable.

The Sick Dog at the door had already disappeared, and Su Xiao looked towards Bubu Wang.

”Chase.”

Bubu Wang dashed out of the room, with Su Xiao following closely.

...

Five minutes later, in a dark alley.

With a bang, a blood-soaked figure flew into a trash can, rolling into the foul-smelling gutter; it was Sick Dog.

Su Xiao walked in front of Sick Dog. His left shoulder had a piece of flesh bitten off. Sick Dog’s strength wasn’t much, nor was his defensive power impressive, but his speed was extremely fast. Plus, his teeth were coated with a neurotoxin capable of paralyzing enemies. If it weren’t for the Blue Steel Shadow’s resistance to the neurotoxin, it would have been troublesome.

”You bastard... The Ten Old Man won’t let you go, just kill me if you have the guts.”

Sick Dog panted heavily, his lung was pierced, and each breath came with heart-wrenching pain.

”Not much ability, but quite gutsy.”

Su Xiao stood before Sick Dog, his brows furrowed. Going against the Ten Old Men could be troublesome; these guys were, after all, the local powerhouses. But since the leech and Sick Dog had already come looking for him, given the arrogance of the Dark Beast and Su Xiao’s temperament, their encounter would never have a good outcome.

In fact, that’s just how it was. The leech became a Purple Treasure Box + 1.2% World Source + 11 Mana Value, and Sick Dog was about to too.

”Beep, beep, beep...”

The sound came from Sick Dog’s jacket pocket, and Su Xiao halted the knife he had poised to stab, because he saw the displayed caller on the half-exposed phone.

He pulled the phone out of Sick Dog’s jacket pocket. Sick Dog remained motionless, only his jaw trembling; the knife was already touching his skull, the tip even penetrating a little, that cold touch — if not very strong-minded, it would have surely made him pee himself.

The call displayed as ’Ten Old Man (Main House).’

The Ten Old Men’s power had ten leaders and ten Dark Beasts, each Dark Beast had its own boss, and the caller was Sick Dog’s boss.

Su Xiao answered the call, and an anxious voice came from the earpiece.

”Brother Sick Dog?”

”No, Sick Dog is about to die.”

Upon hearing Su Xiao’s words, there was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.

”What kind of price can earn Sick Dog a reprieve, is fifty billion Jieni acceptable?”

One of the Ten Old Men was generous, immediately offering fifty billion Jieni, which undoubtedly showed a signal. The Ten Old Men’s force had very few strong players, the Dark Beasts were their ace, and no mistakes were allowed. Besides, here was Yukexin, the Ten Old Men’s territory. They must have known that the leech was dead, yet the Dark Beast was that important to them, and there was not a word mentioned about the leech incident by them, which was very intriguing.

”Do you really want Sick Dog to live?”

A thought suddenly crossed Su Xiao’s mind, the Ten Old Men was wealthy and eager for strong players to hold the scene; if so, couldn’t he join the Ten Old Men’s force at a high price? As for the leech he killed, as long as the Ten Old Men had a bit of brain, they wouldn’t bring it up unless they wanted Sick Dog to die too.

”Of course, what’s your request, Sir?”

That Ten Old Man was resolute in his response.

”Let’s not discuss these first.” Su Xiao paused before saying: ”The leech was killed by me.”

”Heard, Sir’s strength is extraordinary.”

That Ten Old Man’s tone was calm, no, rather there was some gloating at the leech’s death.

”Isn’t the leech your subordinate?”

”That’s our secret. All I can say is that I am deeply ’saddened’ by the leech’s death.”

Su Xiao chuckled; indeed, it was as he imagined. The Ten Old Men were ten gang leaders from different places. How could a gang ever be united? They united merely because they were weak.

From the original story’s information, one could conclude that the Ten Old Men were wealthy, but lacking in strength, which is why the Phantom Troupe targeted them.

”May I know which force you belong to? Hunter’s Union? Amundsen Business? Or...”

”Just a Traveler on the road, attending Yukexin Auction for leisure.”

”Traveler?”

The other end of the line fell silent. After a long time, the Ten Old Man finally spoke.

”Traveler sir, in twenty minutes, I’ll host you on the 30th floor of Youke Hotel, we can talk then, bring Sick Dog.”

”Okay.”

Su Xiao hung up, looking at Sick Dog lying on the ground.

Sick Dog remained silent, aware that he wouldn’t die for now, and he wasn’t foolish—knowing now was not the time to speak.

But being stared down by Su Xiao like this made the thin Sick Dog somewhat uncomfortable.

After hesitating for a moment, an Alchemy Bomb appeared in Su Xiao’s hand. After delivering a heavy punch to Sick Dog’s stomach, Sick Dog grunted in pain.

The Alchemy Bomb quickly decomposed and seeped into Sick Dog’s body through the knife wound as he retched acid.

”You...”

Sick Dog was furious but dared not explode.

”Get up, take me to Youke Hotel.”

Sick Dog looked up at Su Xiao, snorted coldly. Just as he prepared to stand, he felt a tearing sensation on one side of his face. After a moment of numbness, he wailed in agony; a bloody ear appeared in Su Xiao’s hand.

”Did you just... snort?”

Casually tossing the ear away, Su Xiao needed to be ruthless enough towards these gang members who bullied the weak while fearing the strong, and Sick Dog’s blood was full of Alchemy Bomb, incapable of making any waves.
