Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 932: Chapter 931: Flying Beyond Dreams Together

”This time, the situation is rather unique.”

Looking at the young girls in front of him, Fang Zheng had a serious expression.

”As you’ve already learned from Eiriri, the BOSS is level sixty, with unknown attributes and absurdly high defense stats. Simply put, this is a BOSS that we absolutely cannot handle head-on at this stage. Our goal this time is to rescue people, so the target is simple: just draw the BOSS’s aggro to move thirty seconds away from the central square.”

”Then let me....”>

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Yuna quickly raised her hand. As the only player in the team with the Taunt Skill, this was her time to shine, but Fang Zheng shook his head.

”No, don’t be in a hurry. The opponent is in centaur form, which shows it’s a speed-type BOSS, and it’s carrying a long spear. You might get aggro and be instantly charged down......Shinong.”

”Here.”

Upon hearing her name called, Shinong stepped forward. Fang Zheng hesitated for a moment, sighed, and then waved her over to the side.

”Take this, can you use it?”

”This is......”

Looking at the weapon Fang Zheng traded to her, Shinong was taken aback. It wasn’t because of anything unusual; rather, it was because she was extremely familiar with the weapon Fang Zheng handed over......

She often saw this on TV, wasn’t this a gun?

And it even seemed to be a......sniper rifle?

”It has a silencer and a range of five hundred meters. Don’t let anyone else see it, hide in the woods over there, and remember, don’t aim for damage. Just get the BOSS’s attention.”

Even though Fang Zheng thought it unnecessary to manufacture firearms for real, he made a few just in case for emergencies. After all, these guns were mechanically assembled by him. Perhaps Liz, who crafted the components, could somewhat guess what Fang Zheng wanted to do, but she likely wouldn’t spread it around.

Fang Zheng absolutely would not reveal that the Dark Moon Sword could create guns unless absolutely necessary, primarily because in this game, firearms aren’t very useful but easily give people a false sense of security. In fact, they’re typically not needed for BOSS battles; take this sniper rifle, for instance. A five-hundred-meter range sounds impressive, but how many BOSS rooms would even let you pull such a distance?

If this leaks out, they wouldn’t gain anything from it; more likely, it would lead to a heap of trouble, hence why Fang Zheng generally keeps it hidden from others.

But now, since lives were on the line, he held no reservations. He wasn’t one of those anime main characters refusing to use their powers until their girlfriend dies......that’s pure nonsense.

”Everyone else, evacuate this area, carry out the blocking mission outside; do not let anyone in or out.”

Fang Zheng paused here, staring at the others.

”Anyone.”

Upon hearing this, Asuna, Black Cat, and others who were more meticulous changed their expressions slightly. Clearly, they understood Fang Zheng’s meaning. As for those who were a bit clueless, it didn’t matter; they knew as long as they followed Fang Zheng’s orders, it would be fine.

After making sure that everyone left, Fang Zheng finally sent a message to Ester and Restia, directing them to protect Shinong. It wasn’t because he didn’t trust Shinong, rather it was to prevent any unforeseen approach that might lead to the discovery of Shinong and her sniper rifle. With Ester and Restia on perimeter watch, everything should be fine.

The location where the Centaur Boss appeared was the center square of an abandoned city, surrounded by low buildings and collapsed walls, ruins everywhere, providing a sense of a post-World-War setting. This was also a place many gathering players frequented, as the ruins here allowed them to collect steel and mineral resources. But now, the entire square was deserted.

Maybe that’s one benefit of a game; at least you don’t have to see corpses everywhere.

”How do we get over there?”

Leaning against a partially collapsed wall, Eiriri peeked toward the distant square at the centaur. From afar, it didn’t seem like much, but now that she was closer, Eiriri felt a bit anxious. The BOSS was a mechanical creation, standing as tall as a building. Eiriri had never seen such a massive BOSS. Not to mention its terrifyingly high level, even brushing against it would probably spell her doom.

Confronting such a BOSS, she felt unsettled.

”Bring out what I gave you earlier.”

”Okay.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Eiriri quickly executed a trade, and Fang Zheng equipped the items he received. Soon, two strange objects appeared on either side of Fang Zheng’s thighs.

They consisted of a cylinder and a rectangular box; the rectangular box was long and flat, and the cylinder on top of the box looked a bit like a motorcycle’s exhaust pipe.

”This thing is really interesting.”

Seeing this, Eiriri recalled her feelings when she tried it a few days ago, her eyes lighting up.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, are you planning to equip everyone with these?”

”We’ll see; it’s experimental for now. If BOSS fight spaces expand further later, I’ll issue them as standard equipment.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng checked the devices on his legs, then looked at Eiriri.

”Alright, let’s go, I’ll carry you.”

”Alright.”

Under different circumstances, or in public, Eiriri might have felt a bit shy. But now it was just the two of them, and they’ve done both what they should and shouldn’t do. Thus, Eiriri simply giggled and clung to Fang Zheng’s back, holding him tightly.

Then Fang Zheng stood up, cautiously walking a few steps forward to the edge of the square’s entrance, staring at the colossal entity.

”—————!!”

Shortly, the Centaur Boss suddenly jolted, turning to look in another direction. In the next moment, it raised its spear, its limbs thundering as it galloped towards the source of the attack!

”Hoo!!”

In the watchful eyes of Fang Zheng and Eiriri, the Centaur Boss swung its long spear fiercely, a violent gust erupting, enveloping everything within nearly a hundred meters ahead, as if swept by an invisible blade.

”Hiss......”

Witnessing this, Eiriri gasped, while Fang Zheng let out a sigh of relief. He had some earlier concerns, but now it seemed this BOSS did indeed have a distance limitation. Shinong’s range of five hundred meters was enough to avoid its attacks.

But toppling it was out of the question.

With this in mind, Fang Zheng glanced at the health bar above the BOSS’s head. Shinong’s previous shot had knocked off fifty points, almost a sliver, only to quickly regenerate. This indicated Shinong’s attack was insufficient to harm the BOSS. Under such circumstances, even dragging this BOSS around for a year wouldn’t make a difference.

However, attracting its attention was more than adequate.

The Centaur Boss twitched its body again, with Shinong launching another attack. This time, it appeared somewhat restless but was indeed constrained near the square. Fang Zheng watched as it reached the outskirts of the City of Steel ruins, only to stop again, swaying back and forth as if obstructed by an invisible wall.

That’s enough!

”Let’s move out!”

Simultaneously, Fang Zheng gripped the blade in his hand and then pressed a button between his hands with force.

”Shoom———!!”

In an instant, two steel cables shot out from the rectangular boxes attached to Fang Zheng’s thighs, swiftly embedding themselves in the wall of a semi-collapsed tower tens of meters away. Following a faint sound of mechanical workings, Fang Zheng soared into the air with Eiriri on his back, spreading his wings like a flying bird!
