Chapter 916: Chapter 915: The First Holiday in the Game

”Trick or treat!”

When Fang Zheng opened the door, the first thing he saw was a group of little ones dressed in various strange costumes, holding baskets and reaching out their hands towards him. Seeing this, Fang Zheng smiled slightly, then grabbed a handful of snacks from his inventory and placed them in the baskets in a trade.

”Alright, that should be enough.”

”It’s enough, thank you, Brother Fang Zheng!”

Looking at the candy in the basket, the girl leading the group, with twin-tails and a witch hat, nodded and respectfully bowed to Fang Zheng. Then, she led the other kids away with giggles, while Fang Zheng stretched and looked around.

It was already dusk, and unlike other places, the interior of the Dark Moon Sword Guild’s residence was festively decorated with carved pumpkin lanterns and various other decorations, giving it a festive look.

In fact, it was indeed a festival.

November 11th, Halloween.

This was the first festival Fang Zheng and others celebrated after entering the game world. Although there wasn’t such a holiday inside the game itself, after Eiriri mentioned a courage-testing event, Fang Zheng immediately remembered this and decided to celebrate Halloween.

After all, people in this world also need to relax, and celebrating Halloween to take a break is a good choice.

”Mr. Fang Zheng!”

At this moment, Eiriri excitedly ran into the hallway, and upon seeing Fang Zheng, she immediately waved at him.

”You’re finally out. Hurry up, your costume is ready.”

”Do I have to dress up too?”

Hearing Eiriri’s words, Fang Zheng was taken aback. He certainly knew what Eiriri was talking about. After deciding to celebrate Halloween, Fang Zheng had Eiriri and Aoba, along with those production-oriented players, form a Halloween preparation committee responsible for organizing the event. According to the schedule, there would be a costume parade after sunset, followed by a series of performances, and finally, the courage-testing event.

And Fang Zheng learned from Eiriri that he, Ester, and Restia would be judges, selecting the most outstanding performer in the costume parade.

However... Fang Zheng hadn’t heard he was supposed to dress up too. He originally planned to just wear his guild uniform.

”Of course, everyone will dress up, so you, Mr. Fang Zheng, should too.”

Upon closer inspection, Eiriri had also changed her clothes by now. She wore a black dress with bat-like wings at the back and two small fangs at the corners of her mouth — well, definitely a vampire look.

”Come, Mr. Fang Zheng, put on this costume.”

”What’s this?”

Taking the clothes from Eiriri, Fang Zheng was surprised to find that it was more like armor than actual clothing...

”Headless Knight!”

...I have no grudges with you...

Looking at the grinning Eiriri, Fang Zheng ultimately said nothing. He understood why Eiriri was teasing him. Strictly speaking, Fang Zheng had a good relationship with these girls, but he did push them hard in training every day. Deep down, the girls were a bit resentful about it, and it was understandable to let off some steam during the festival.

So Fang Zheng didn’t say much, quickly accessed his inventory, and put on the Headless Knight armor. From the outside, it looked similar to regular armor, except the upper section was a bit longer, covering Fang Zheng’s head, while he held the helmet in his hand... well, that’s precisely the effect they were going for.

When Fang Zheng arrived at the podium, Ester and Restia had already been waiting there, dressed in very fresh costumes just like Fang Zheng. Ester wore a very elaborate Japanese kimono — it was hard to tell if she was a geisha or a princess — while Restia was completely wrapped in a pitch-black cloak, holding a crystal ball, looking like a fortune-telling gypsy witch.

”Master, you look quite amusing in this outfit.”

Seeing Fang Zheng approaching, Restia laughed and greeted him. Fang Zheng also waved his helmet at her.

”Your outfits are beautiful too.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng sat between the two, peering through the gaps in his armor to see the entire estate lit up and lively.

”Halloween... I wonder if the Heavenly Dao Palace celebrates it?”

”When we go back, we should see. If it’s the right time, we could organize a big event at the Heavenly Dao Palace as well.”

As they chatted, accompanied by cheerful music, the parade float team emerged from the warehouse on the other side, heading towards the audience and podium. To enjoy this celebration, nearly everyone in the Dark Moon Sword Guild participated. Just like Fang Zheng imagined, experiencing the same routine every day, not knowing when they’d leave the game, many players had become tense. A grand festival celebration was clearly a way to relax, letting them cast off worries and just enjoy.

Unlike in reality, in the game, players could create all sorts of things as long as they had the skills. Thus, the floats were quite lavish and beautiful, with a giant dragon made of wood leading the way, swaying its head left and right.

Riding atop the dragon, led by Yuna, a band of players who could play instruments was performing, singing, and hopping around.

Following the ”dragon float” were variously dressed players as witches, werewolves, mummies... in short, a wide array of costumes.

What Fang Zheng found amusing was that Sophie, who always claimed to be a ”regular vampire”, was dressed as a witch, while Black Cat, inseparable from her scythe, was dressed as the Grim Reaper. In contrast, Gabriel’s costume was relatively normal — she wore a thin white dress, held a large wooden horn, had tiny white wings taped to her back, and an iron wire halo over her head — simple as that.

But the most surprising to Fang Zheng was Aoba.

In his impression, Aoba was always a very obedient child, but her costume was exceptionally daring — Aoba wore a semi-transparent sleepwear-like outfit with small wings on her back, a succubus-like tail, and two little devil horns on each side of her twin-tails.

She certainly had a bit of that ”little devil” vibe.

But speaking of which...

”Where’s Asuna?”

Fang Zheng curiously looked around but could not see Asuna anywhere, making him more intrigued. Hearing his question, Restia laughed lightly.

”As for Miss Asuna, she’s over there...”

”Hmm? That’s...”

Looking in the direction Restia pointed, Fang Zheng was stunned and almost burst out laughing. At the back of the parade, Mimel, Seven Seas, Lingyin, and Yuki were dressed as cats, proudly carrying their spoils of war. Tied to a log they carried was Asuna, dressed as a mermaid, looking utterly resigned...

What could Fang Zheng say about this?

He could only silently give a thumbs-up.
