Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 931: Chapter 930: Someone Must Be Behind This!

Not long after, Eiriri returned once more, but compared to before, her expression had become much more serious.

”How’s it going? Did you draw it?”

”I did.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Eiriri nodded, then took out a piece of paper—just like how Fang Zheng gained the [Sketch] skill through drawing, Eiriri also obtained a similar skill [Probe].

This skill was incredible. As long as Eiriri could sketch out the likeness of the BOSS on paper, there was a certain chance she could learn about the BOSS’s attributes, species, weaknesses, level, and other information. For Fang Zheng, this skill was extremely important.

Fang Zheng took the sketch from Eiriri’s hand, glanced at the BOSS sketch, and immediately raised his eyebrows. It was clearly marked with the BOSS’s level.

Level sixty!

This absolutely should not be the BOSS appearing on floor twenty-five!

Without needing to look further, Fang Zheng was certain there was something wrong. According to his calculations, the BOSS from floors twenty-five to thirty should not exceed level fifty at most. Yet this wild BOSS was higher than the limit level, which meant there were only two possibilities: either the designer was drunk when designing this BOSS, or this was not an ordinary wild BOSS.

”There’s something wrong.”

Fang Zheng made the judgment decisively, and upon hearing him, Argo and the others were taken aback.

”What’s wrong?”

”This BOSS’s level is incorrect; it’s level sixty, which completely exceeds the current players’ maximum able to withstand. This wasn’t prepared for us, even the raid group can’t handle such a BOSS. It simply shouldn’t appear here.”

”How could it be...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Teikichi Hori couldn’t help but be shocked. He originally thought that with the Dark Moon Sword, it would be easy, but he never thought that even they couldn’t handle it?

However, Argo was more focused on another aspect Fang Zheng pointed out.

”This wasn’t prepared for us? Then who was it prepared for?”

Faced with Argo’s question, Fang Zheng pondered for a moment, then looked at her.

”You should know that in games there often appear storyline BOSSes and specific BOSSes, right?”

”I understand storyline BOSSes, what are specific BOSSes...?”

”Specific BOSSes refer to those you need a particular method to defeat, BOSSes that can’t be taken down with normal means.”

Fang Zheng explained to Argo.

”Such BOSSes are usually to test whether the player has mastered a certain skill, familiarized with a process, or understood certain game functions. If you follow the steps proficiently, these BOSSes are no tougher than a rooster. But if you stubbornly charge in, even with level 100 and health lock, you may not defeat them.”

”You mean... this BOSS is one of those specific BOSSes?”

”Most likely.”

Fang Zheng glanced again at the BOSS attribute chart Eiriri had drawn.

”The BOSS’s level is too high, its health too much, this itself is a signal. If the designer deliberately sets a BOSS that no player can topple, the implied meaning is usually ’Fool, see if there are hints around.’ This raises a question...”

”What question.”

”This BOSS wasn’t randomly spawned outdoors.”

Fang Zheng tapped the attribute chart in his hand.

”Like I said, if this is a specific trial BOSS, then it only appears when players are ready. And with this BOSS being so high-level, I suspect someone deliberately chose to challenge a high-difficulty BOSS.”

”Would anyone do that?”

Hearing this, Argo was incredulous.

”But doing so, wouldn’t it mean trapping themselves?”

”That’s right, but it’s simple to escape this danger, just abandon the quest...”

”Abandon the quest... Ah!”

As an intelligence broker, Argo was naturally very familiar with the various game tactics, but being familiar still meant she was just a player, not knowing to look from a designer’s perspective. With Fang Zheng’s reminder, she immediately understood.

Indeed, this BOSS isn’t something ordinary people can defeat, and if it’s unbeatable, abandoning the quest would cause it to disappear. Such scenarios are common in other online games, but because this BOSS never disappeared, Argo had subconsciously overlooked this.

So the question arises.

”Why didn’t they abandon the quest... wait, so you mean...”

”That’s right.”

Fang Zheng nodded.

”I suspect the opponent is intentionally targeting Dark Nebula and the Red Knight Order. I have to admit, this method is indeed clever.”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but sigh.

Ever since he wiped out the entire ”Smiling Coffin” clan in a massacre, few dared to attack other players, and the atmosphere in the game world had improved considerably. But now it seems that someone has thought of a new way—after all, using a BOSS to kill players doesn’t earn a red name!

In fact, luring BOSSes to kill players is quite common in many online games, but still daring to do so in this game... well, Fang Zheng had to admit, some people really aren’t afraid of death.

”What should we do?!”

Teikichi Hori and Scarlet Higanbana were immediately tense after hearing Fang Zheng’s analysis. But they couldn’t contact Black Snow Princess and the others and could only stare blankly.

”Currently, I must go in and take a look at the situation, but...”

Fang Zheng glanced again at the paper in his hand.

”Eiriri, is there a way to get in?”

”No.”

Eiriri decisively shook her head.

”I checked the terrain. There’s only one path into the City of Steel, right behind the square, and that BOSS occupies most of the square. Unless we think of a way to lure it away, it’s impossible to enter the City of Steel.”

”Hmm...”

After hearing Eiriri’s response, Fang Zheng pondered for a moment, then seemed to think of something.

”What about using that?”

”That?”

Eiriri paused, then thoughtfully pondered.

”Hmm... it’s hard to say, but I’m not very skilled yet... if anything goes wrong, it’ll be troublesome...”

”No worries, I’ll do it myself.”

Fang Zheng decisively made the decision.

”Let’s first find a way to lure that BOSS away, then you and I will go in together to see the situation!”

Fang Zheng was sure that whoever the person was, they must be inside now. Judging from the BOSS’s current reaction, it was clearly acting as a Gate God. Obviously, standing there was to block the way. This means, if Fang Zheng’s guess is correct, the instigator of this attack should be inside, negotiating with Dark Nebula and the Red Knight Order...

As for their purpose...

We’ll find out once we get there.
