Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 251: Chapter 250: An Unexpectedly Strong Opponent

What’s happening?

Watching the Fire Mist Warrior before him suddenly go mad, Zamiel was taken aback. He quickly dodged to avoid the attack of this Fire Mist Warrior.

“What’s wrong with you? Snap out of it!”

At first, Zamiel thought that the other was attacking instinctively due to being provoked, but he soon realized that something was not right, as this Fire Mist Warrior’s face was twisted in ferocity, she looked just like a savage beast glaring at him viciously, and even her eyes were emitting a clear red light!

“Roar———!!”

Seemingly sensing that Zamiel before her was not easy to deal with, the Fire Mist Warrior let out a roar at him, then shockingly turned around and charged toward another comrade! She then raised her weapon and launched an attack on her own companion!

“Hey? What are you doing? Are you blind?”

“Wait, what’s happening? What’s going on here?”

“Stop her, block her quickly!”

Originally, facing the Scourge Legion and those creatures that appeared out of nowhere had already caused the Fire Mist Warriors to be somewhat overwhelmed, no one expected that in such a moment of crisis, a problem would arise within their own ranks, instantly causing chaos. What puzzled these Fire Mist Warriors even more was that not only did the crazed Fire Mist Warrior attack anyone she saw, but her strength also increased rapidly to the point where many who tried to subdue her were instead knocked down by her in a single move.

In the end, with no other choice, Zamiel had to cooperatively strike her down with others to prevent the chaos from spreading further. Otherwise, they might have indeed been overwhelmed by these damned creatures.

But even so, this greatly decreased the morale of the Fire Mist Warrior Legion. Although they had long been prepared mentally for various situations, the continuously emerging tactics of their enemy truly alarmed and scared these warriors, and now, they could even control a Fire Mist Warrior?

Although everyone suspected that it was probably the effect of some Noble Phantasm or the Free Method, but who knew what was really going on?

Considering this, many of the Fire Mist Warriors kept their distance from the woman with wings, although she seemed like vampires from legend, the Fire Mist Warriors generally knew that vampires did not exist in the world, and many vampire legends were just rumors left by the Followers of the Crimson Realm after consuming the Power of Existence of humans. Like the Chief Guard of the Masquerade Ball, the King of the Crimson Realm—Jin Mammon who seeks, he resembled the vampires from legends. But even he didn’t possess the power ascribed to vampires in stories, which was to turn others into Enchanted ones with just a bite.

But this peculiar woman… who knew what abilities she had!

The situation is dire!

Seeing the lowering morale of the Fire Mist Warriors before him, Zamiel felt helpless as the peculiar woman was blocking their escape route. Logically, they should have chosen to break through by force, but with the precedent of that mad Fire Mist Warrior, no one else dared to approach. Keep in mind, those vampire stories are known by many. These Fire Mist Warriors were not afraid of death, but dying at the hands of the enemy and being killed by one’s own people… those were completely different feelings.

We must find a way, or else…

“Roar!”

However, before Zamiel could come up with a strategy, a loud roaring sound suddenly burst forth, and everyone looked up in surprise towards the source of the sound. There, in front of them, on the towering pitch-black fortress wall, a huge Skeleton Dragon was perched, lifting its head and staring down at the group of ants below with undisguised hatred and mockery.

“Despair, mortals, and experience the endless power of our master!”

“………”

Zamiel suddenly realized that their only way out now was probably waiting for rescue.

Commander-in-Chief Sabelishu, we need help!!

In fact, even without Zamiel mentioning it, Sophie Sabelishu, who was at the rear, had already realized that something was amiss.

At the beginning, when she saw the enemy deploy the Sealing, Commander Sophie Sabelishu found it a bit strange, but didn’t pay too much attention, since Zamiel was in charge of leading the charge and those Fire Mist Warriors were all elite. There shouldn’t be any problems, but as time passed, she realized that the situation was not as she had thought.

The place where Zamiel and Fang Zheng met was in the middle of the stone bridge, and although the range of the Sealing deployed by Fang Zheng was large, it covered at most about two-thirds of the entire stone bridge. Logically speaking, regardless of whether Zamiel and the other Fire Mist Warriors encountered trouble or not, after so much time, there should be some response. But for some reason, there was completely no news from the Fire Mist Warrior Legion inside, and they couldn’t be contacted even with the Free Method.

Now, as time ticked by, Sophie also began to worry. Could it be that some situation had arisen within the Sealing?

With that thought, Sophie could no longer sit still. Although there was still time, her forces were already insufficient; they only slightly outnumbered the defense troops of the Hall of the Star Dawn. Now, the Fire Mist Warriors deployed around as a distraction represented half of the total military strength, with the other half of the elite handed over to Zamiel. If there was a problem on that front, then the situation would become quite troublesome.

Now… it was time to play their trump card.

What a hassle.

Zamiel and Sophie wore worried expressions, but Fang Zheng’s expression wasn’t any better. He thought that once Icecrown Citadel was deployed, annihilating these Fire Mist Warriors would be no pressure, but now it seemed these warriors were indeed elite. Initially, they were flustered when facing the Scourge Legion and did lose some men under the siege of several bosses. But before long, the Fire Mist Warriors seemed to become familiar with the bosses’ combat methods and began to form the strongest and most impregnable formation in the world.

The turtle formation was a peak of cowardice!

Fang Zheng had to admit that these Fire Mist Warriors dared to venture alone deep into enemy territory and charge into the Hall of the Star Dawn, which indeed required some capability. After entangling with these bosses for a while, they seemed to gain some understanding of the bosses’ skills. Apart from the Blood Queen, whom they dared not approach too closely, the other few were not much of a problem for the warriors. Even Sindagosa, whom Fang Zheng had dispatched, was blocked by them—they were somewhat ragged but could at least hold out for a while.

Although they would eventually be annihilated if this continued, Fang Zheng did not have so much time. His Sealing could only last for one hour, and at the time, Fang Zheng still wondered, what kind of enemy could not be killed with his Sealing in an hour. Now he finally had his answer.

It was a group of elites that he definitely could not finish off in an hour.

Fang Zheng finally realized the issue with his Sealing. It seemed that it had the same nature as “Time Control,” effective against those weaker than himself, but useless against powerful adversaries. Yet, Sealing was slightly better than “Time Manipulation,” as at least it would not backfire due to a vast discrepancy in power and could still be used as an aid.

Indeed, an hour was long enough for the defense troops of the Hall of the Star Dawn to fall back, and just now, Decarabia had informed him through the Free Method that the troops on the eastern and western fronts were smoothly returning. According to the plan, they should be able to arrive on the battlefield within the designated time.

But Fang Zheng was not satisfied.

He was now the boss of the Masquerade Ball, and he had put on such a big show in front of his subordinates. If he lifted the Sealing now, with only a third of these Fire Mist Warriors dead, what impression would others have when they saw that the boss couldn’t even deal with them?

This would be like the Sect Hierarch of the Ming Cult being unable to handle the Six Major Sects who came to challenge him at Bright Peak—embarrassing!

If this got out, he feared that he would be overthrown by someone surnamed Zhu.

But to Fang Zheng’s surprise, his troubles were just beginning!

“Boom!!”

Suddenly, with a loud bang, Fang Zheng saw a cloud of smoke in the distance. Following this, he saw Lord Marrowgar’s massive figure flying backward as if struck by something, crashing heavily onto the ground. The White Bone Shields that were originally surrounding him were now scattered all around.

Meanwhile, the Blood Queen, who had been in the air, seemed to have suffered an attack too. A flash of light streaked by, and in the next moment, Fang Zheng saw her plummeting from the sky, narrowly escaping death.

Who was it?

Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng frowned. Icecrown Citadel was useful, but everything came with a condition. Fang Zheng could use the Power of Existence to transform these data into reality, but conversely, he also couldn’t change the bosses’ Attribute Levels and health, such as turning a boss into one with immunity to All-Attributes attacks along with 99999999 health—something utterly unimaginable.

In reality, the bosses’ Attributes perfectly restored their original strength, and, conversely, their other attributes wouldn’t change either. Fang Zheng had considered trying, but since these “data” came from the Soulstone, he never modified them without permission. Otherwise, should any issues arise causing the Soulstone to malfunction, he would truly have nowhere to cry.

Now, Fang Zheng could sense that the two bosses under his command who were attacked, nearly had more than half their health wiped out instantly, indicating that the attacking Fire Mist Warriors were even more formidable than he had imagined!

Who exactly was it?
