Chapter 262: Chapter 261 Uncertain Emotions

For Fang Zheng, it was a wonderful night.

When he awoke from his deep slumber once more, his lips curled into a smile as he gazed at the young girl cradled in his arms. He then reached out his hand to gently stroke Tilia’s soft golden hair.

In his previous life, Fang Zheng was not short of women; he had dated two girlfriends, and as a wealthy man of high status, women were never a problem for him, should he desire them. But this time, it felt completely different. With Tilia, Fang Zheng felt a total fusion of soul and body. It was as though when he entered her delicate body, their souls merged together. It was a feeling that brought utter relaxation and joyful contentment both emotionally and physically.

In contrast, those women he had slept with in his past life were like sex dolls to him—perhaps providing a bit of physical pleasure, but they never gave him the deep spiritual joy and satisfaction that he now felt.

Perhaps… had he never truly loved anyone?

As he lay in bed, caressing the slumbering Tilia in his arms, Fang Zheng pondered this question. Thinking back, his two girlfriends, one from university and the other from when he joined the workforce, had little in common. The former had the innocence and simplicity of a student, with a hint of feminine cunning, while the latter was mature, steady, and efficient.

But upon reflection, Fang Zheng realized that he didn’t seem to love them.

In fact, neither of those relationships were initiated by him. The first time in university, it was after he had joined the basketball team and led the school team to win a trophy that a young girl confessed her feelings for him. At the time, Fang Zheng felt he knew her well enough, and seeing as she was quite attractive and had a pleasant personality, he saw no reason to turn her down and agreed to date her.

After that, they did many things that boyfriends and girlfriends do. To Fang Zheng at the time, he was neither repulsed by nor particularly interested in such matters. In the end, just before he graduated, the girl proposed they break up.

“I am very cunning, and I loved you so much that I tried really hard to make you fall in love with me. But no matter how hard I tried, I realized you never loved me… I think it’s better if we break up,” she said.

Fang Zheng was somewhat surprised, but he quickly realized he might indeed not love her as she had said. Because usually, a man who has been dumped cries and wails or goes somewhere to get drunk. But Fang Zheng felt as if he had completed a task; he wasn’t sad, just a bit empty and—relieved, as if a long-term task had finally been finished.

In fact, the relationship’s end didn’t really make Fang Zheng feel any attachment. It was like deleting some redundant code, easy as that, without any feelings beyond that. He didn’t even shed a single tear that night; instead, he just drank a can of beer and went straight to sleep.

Just like that, it was over.

The courtship with his second girlfriend was even simpler. She was a newbie at the company, and he was a senior executive. Their initial encounters were similar to most city romance dramas: the clumsy rookie makes mistakes and is helped and guided by Fang Zheng, leading to budding feelings—or rather, feelings on her part alone.

The subsequent course of events was no different from before. She asked Fang Zheng out, and seeing no reason to refuse, he accepted. Yet this workplace romance didn’t end too well. Influenced by her mother, the girl resigned to seek a higher-paying job in the big city. Fang Zheng just shrugged, agreeing immediately. He understood why she did it. A rookie may tolerate odd jobs at the start of her career, but not for its entirety.

Fang Zheng had given her chances, but unfortunately, she didn’t have the talent.

And the biggest weakness of the untalented is a lack of self-awareness.

Abandoning a company and assets for a woman one fancies is what the domineering CEO in TV dramas might do, but Fang Zheng couldn’t see the value of his girlfriend compared to his company. So when she proposed to resign, he agreed readily enough. She then looked at him silently for several minutes before turning and walking away without a word.

Honestly, Fang Zheng still doesn’t understand what she was thinking during those minutes; did she really expect him to, like the idiots in TV dramas, make a hollow promise to express his love?

Fang Zheng has always struggled to comprehend love. He once thought he could feel it, but now he wasn’t so sure. Because the feeling Tilia gave him was completely different from his previous two girlfriends. Yet compared to movies, TV shows, and novels he had seen, this emotion didn’t seem to be clearly defined as love.

He certainly liked Tilia and felt affectionate towards her, but Fang Zheng didn’t think his affection for her exceeded his for Little Angel, his first summon in the Main World, who had been with him the longest. However, his feelings for the two were not the same.

Forget it, just let things take their natural course.

With that thought, Fang Zheng shook his head and sat up. He had always been carefree about relationships, never forcing anything. Like during his time dating his first girlfriend, many people tried to give him advice, like planning a romantic date or buying small gifts to win her favor. But Fang Zheng never paid much attention to these suggestions; he only did what he wanted to do when he felt like it. If he didn’t want to, he simply wouldn’t do it.

Not only that, but Fang Zheng also received an unexpected gift…

With that thought, he flipped over his right hand, and quickly, a magic book with a sheepskin cover appeared in Fang Zheng’s hand. It was the “Book of a Thousand Laws” given to him by his bargain teacher. According to that prophecy tutor, once Fang Zheng’s power broke through its limit, the types of spells he could learn would appear on it. Now, under Fang Zheng’s gaze, he could clearly see new magic incantations emerging on the blank pages that previously followed fifth-level spells.

This meant that Fang Zheng had finally broken through the fifth-level barrier and could now learn sixth-level spells!

“Master…”

Sensing Fang Zheng’s movement, the previously sleeping Tilia also opened her eyes and watched him. Fang Zheng smiled and reached out to gently stroke her head. fгeewebnovёl.com

“How are you feeling? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine… it’s just that, Master, you are… too amazing.”

As she spoke, Tilia blushed and pulled the blanket over her face, slightly embarrassed. This wasn’t because she was innocent or shy; it was just that Tilia did not expect Fang Zheng to be so formidable, pretty much wearing her out the entire night. Although Tilia had always been the one to actively seduce Fang Zheng, it was just a manifestation of her instinctual desires as a Follower of the Crimson Realm. Beyond that, Tilia herself was not very familiar with all these matters.

Until last night, when she had literally been schooled by Fang Zheng.

Even though the physical quality of a Follower of the Crimson Realm was definitely much stronger than that of humans, Tilia had been teasing Fang Zheng for more than a day or two, and her NP had been off the charts.

As a result, yesterday’s string of “critical hits” left her dazed and confused. Remembering what had happened to her, even Tilia started feeling a little embarrassed. Even if by nature they succumb to desire, Followers of the Crimson Realm still retain a bit of modesty.

“There’s even more impressive stuff to come.”

Seeing Tilia’s bashful look, Fang Zheng also recalled the scene of the girl pleading sweetly for mercy yesterday, um… The little girl has been teasing me for so many days, I’ve just collected some interest, the principal hasn’t been paid back yet.

We’ve still got a long way to go.

“Ooh…”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, Tilia shivered. Although her very nature was to offer everything to Fang Zheng, she had her limits. After last night, Tilia understood all too well that she alone was not enough to satisfy her Master.

It seemed she needed to get a few more people on board?

With that thought, Tilia’s mind started racing.

Should she invite that girl who always stayed in the palace playing with stars? Or maybe that flat-chested Fire Mist Warrior who’s as stiff as a washboard? Or perhaps that maid?
