Chapter 259: Chapter 258: The Clash Between the Two

This was a battle that erupted suddenly.

“Hah!!”

Facing the Soldiers of the Forerunner that pounced towards her, swinging their blades, Shana roared as she swung her weapon, slashing at them.

Flames burst forth amid a series of metallic clashing sounds; three Soldiers of the Forerunner were repelled, but contrary to what Shana had hoped, they were not split in two. Instead, although several crimson marks appeared on these mechanical soldiers, they were quickly repaired by the Watchers lingering behind them.

But Shana didn’t care; she blasted away the enemies standing in her way with a single sword strike. The next moment, wings of flame rapidly formed behind the girl. Shana then leapt high, gripping her greatsword like an eagle swooping down on its prey, and charged straight at Nanoka, who was hiding in the back!

“Blaze Flight!”

Accompanied by a roar, Shana’s longsword was swung fiercely. A vivid red flame erupted instantaneously, hurtling towards Nanoka. But at the same time, a large mechanical soldier appeared in front of Nanoka, blocking Shana’s attack. Simultaneously, Nanoka suddenly raised her weapon and pulled the trigger at Shana.

“Bang!”

Accompanied by a dull bursting sound, a pitch-black sphere tumbled out of the gun barrel. Shana dodged the seemingly off-target shot head-on. But in the next instant, in the part of her vision that Shana couldn’t see, the pitch-black sphere suddenly exploded and disintegrated. It then sharply expanded into a black hole of regular size, beginning to crazily absorb everything around it! And at the same time, Shana also felt as if some powerful force had emerged from behind her, grabbing her tightly and restricting her movements!

“What’s going on?”

Shana turned her head in surprise, looking at the black hole behind her, completely clueless about what it was. But soon, Aralastor’s voice rang in her ear.

“Shana, be careful!”

“Whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!”

This is bad!

Hearing the rushing wind, Shana quickly lifted her black coat to shield herself. Numerous orange light beams then shot from below, striking her coat and triggering a series of explosions. Shana herself was sent flying by the blast wave, somersaulting before landing heavily on the ground.

Why is this so troublesome?

Gripping her weapon tightly, Shana stared daggers at Nanoka who was not far off, aiming a Particle Cannon at her. At the beginning, Shana hadn’t taken Nanoka seriously at all. To her, this Fire Mist Warrior was too inexperienced; Shana could even sense that Nanoka had hardly participated in any battles against the Followers of the Crimson Realm, meaning she was a newbie among newbies.

But when they actually began to fight, Shana was astonished to discover that her opponent seemed to have transformed, from a clueless novice into the craftiest hunter!

Nanoka seemed to be able to see through every move Shana wanted to make and counteract accordingly!

This made Shana very uncomfortable.

In this regard, Nanoka’s way of fighting seemed somewhat similar to Fang Zheng’s, but Shana was clear that they were different. Fang Zheng was more like a foreseer, who could predict the exact moment Shana would make a sword strike, down to the precise location it would hit to block it in advance. Nanoka, on the other hand, seemed to predict Shana’s intentions and impede her from reaching her goals. Her methods weren’t as graceful and precise as Fang Zheng’s, but fighting her made Shana just as uncomfortable.

How could this rookie Fire Mist Warrior be so cunning?

Of course, Shana didn’t know that although both were Fang Zheng’s students, the way Fang Zheng instructed them was entirely different.

Having some combat experience herself, Shana was more encouraged by Fang Zheng to seek a fighting style that suited her within fictional works; therefore, she mostly watched novels and animations.

Nanoka, with no combat experience, was told by Fang Zheng to engage in networked battles with other players to gain confrontational experience and to train her reaction time and increase experience.

Simply put, Fang Zheng provided Shana with tactical training while focusing on cultivating Nanoka’s combat awareness.

At the moment, Nanoka was applying the techniques she had learned from gaming into real-life combat. In her view, it was just another network battle.

And in network battles, who could win in the end? Of course, it was by holding out!

“Sanya, this ‘Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter’ doesn’t seem as formidable as you said,”

Hiding behind the Knight of the Forerunner, Nanoka raised her Particle Cannon and bombarded Shana a few times to force her to keep her distance while looking at the King of the Crimson Realm contracted to her with confusion. Before waiting for Fang Zheng’s signal, Nanoka had asked Sanya out of boredom about Shana, and everything Sanya had told her scared Nanoka stiff.

Stories about how the Red Lotus flames could destroy everything, wielding Judgement and Judgment, a deity capable of killing gods… Just by listening to Sanya talk, Nanoka had the impression that she might turn into a roasted piglet with just one sword strike from the opponent upon waking up.

But now, it seems… it wasn’t much of anything.

There are many King-level players online who are even stronger than her, how could this one be so reckless?

As an “old bird”, Nanoka felt this was completely different from what she had imagined.

“Ugh… It seems the other party is a newly-born Contractor and might not have fully mastered their power… ”

It must be said, the words she just spoke seemed to have backfired, making Sanya feel quite embarrassed.

“But you still need to be careful!”

“I understand.”

Hearing Sanya’s warning, Nanoka nodded and then maneuvered two mechanized soldiers to a closer distance to herself, and then signaled them to open fire, suppressing the enemy across from her.

Seeing this scene, Shana, who was darting between buildings to evade attacks, almost spat out a mouthful of blood.

Aren’t you being too cowardly!

If possible, Shana really wanted to rush over, grab the collar of her opponent’s clothes, and yell at her. It was Shana who challenged her first, but now this Fire Mist Warrior was as cowardly as a mouse, almost always hiding behind mechanical soldiers, taking the chance to snipe or using strange tools to hinder her movements, and then letting those mechanical soldiers attack her.

Are you still a warrior of honor, you Fire Mist Warrior?!

Shana had never seen such a cowardly Fire Mist Warrior. Generally, Fire Mist Warriors are not afraid of getting hurt, and bravely charging forward is also their faith and will. Only those despicable Followers of the Crimson Realm would adopt such tactics… But now, what on earth is this Fire Mist Warrior doing?!

Shana had also tried to just leave and not fight with her opponent, but Nanoka’s persistence in her attacks was first-rate, and her power was indeed not weak. Shana had even been caught off guard and nearly got knocked down by a blast from her. Therefore, the currently restless Shana had to restrain her impatience and battle Nanoka here.

But this is just a waste of time… No choice, use that move!

With that thought, Shana gripped the hilt of her large sword tightly as flames once again rose from it, burning fiercely while she fixed her gaze intently on her target ahead.

“—————!!!”

And just at that moment, suddenly, the earth began to shake, time, space, everything seemed to be hit by some tremendous impact, even Shana and Nanoka couldn’t help but look up at the sky. As Fire Mist Warriors, they could feel that at this moment, the “existence” of the entire world began to tremble!

Now!

As an experienced Fire Mist Warrior, Shana instantly composed herself and seized the fleeting opportunity upon realizing Nanoka was a fraction slower than her!

“Crimson!”

Following Shana’s roar, the flames that exploded from her blade instantly became a giant hand, sweeping and blasting away the mechanical soldiers that were blocking her path. Shana then rolled out from behind cover, raised the sharp blade in her hand high, and swung down hard at Nanoka who wasn’t far away!

“Nanoka! Watch out!”

“Huh?”

Facing the sudden eruption of Shana’s power, Nanoka came to her senses a step too late. Faced with the oncoming flames, all she could do was try to quickly hide behind her Guardian; but… it was meaningless.

“Judgement!”

The burst of flaming torrent turned Nanoka’s Guardian into ash almost instantaneously, while Nanoka herself screamed and was thrown backward, crashing into a two-story building not far behind her.

“Whew…”

Only then did Shana let out a breath of relief. She glanced at the ruined two-story building, then turned around, her fiery wings re-emerged behind her, carrying her into the sky, and in the blink of an eye, she was gone.

“Oof…”

It was a good while later that Nanoka, covered in dust and ash, crawled out of the rubble.

“Are you okay, Nanoka?”

“I’m fine, I was just a little careless… But what was with the power of that attack just now! That’s cheating! I’m going to file a complaint!!”
