Chapter 295: Chapter 294: It’s Truly Thrilling to Snatch and Run (Part 2)

Fang Zheng had never anticipated that he’d experience a warship’s full artillery barrage on land within the Main World. It seemed these Undead Sailors were militarily more adept than he had imagined.

Therefore, Fang Zheng was at a loss.

Had he been able to move freely, dodging the bombardment wouldn’t have been a problem. But the issue was that Fang Zheng couldn’t leave the square, and those Undead Sailors seemed hell-bent on blasting them back to the Stone Age, unleashing relentless and indiscriminate shelling upon the square. Luckily, the warships were docked at the pier, with only their bow guns operational; had they been at sea and able to use their broadsides, Fang Zheng would’ve faced a bombardment twice as fierce, if not more.

Damn it, this was lethal!

Despite deploying a Protective Barrier, Fang Zheng could only brace himself and endure. Fortunately, he was a combination of Protection Class and Prophecy System. Despite the fierce artillery fire, he could barely hold on. Now, Fang Zheng cursed himself for not mastering the Shaping Type to Nine Rings level—otherwise, a tsunami unleashed by him would have blasted these bastards sky high!

Luckily, Fang Zheng wasn’t entirely defenseless against the warships.

“Tilia, go sink those damn warships for me!”

“Yes, Master!”

Upon receiving Fang Zheng’s command, Tilia immediately nodded. Her cover had been compromised by her previous efforts to protect Fang Zheng, and the ruins she had been hiding in were leveled by the first bombardment. Fortunately, Tilia didn’t need to endure the onslaught in the square like Fang Zheng did. She quickly crossed the burning debris and confidently stood atop the roof of a house that hadn’t yet collapsed. Then, Tilia raised her umbrella once more, her expression dark as she aimed it forward.

In the next moment, a bright red Light Beam burst forth as if a scimitar had pierced through the hulls of several warships bombarding the square, blasting holes right through them. Accompanied by the sound of explosions, the ships immediately caught fire, flames and thick smoke rapidly spreading across the port.

But Tilia did not intend to stop there. Clutching her umbrella tightly, she swung it with force. Suddenly, a Light Beam hundreds of meters long swept across the port like a scimitar, and a series of explosive firelights burst in succession, resembling thousands of firecrackers popping in tandem, leaving the port engulfed in flames and destruction.

“Phew…”

After delivering that earth-shattering blow, Tilia exhaled deeply while holding her umbrella; maintaining an unceasing barrage with the Power of Existence and using it like a scimitar had taken a toll on her. But in the next moment, Tilia’s expression changed sharply, and she leaped backward. The ground cracked open as flowers entwined with vines wrapped around her like a shield.

At that same time, dozens of shells rained down from the sky, engulfing Tilia in a blaze. Soon after, the flames tore apart, and Tilia, like a Ghost, retreated rapidly. However, the petals in front of her had been torn to shreds, leaving very few intact.

Fang Zheng surveyed the surrounding chaos with a grim expression. If he could have used Sealing, he wouldn’t have been bothered by this trouble. But Nymph had warned him that this spatial plane was inherently unstable, and activating Sealing might complicate things further. For now, he had to continue to stand his ground.

“Master, one minute left!”

“I know!”

The bombardment from the enemy flotilla intensified. The two angels Fang Zheng had summoned were beginning to falter. However, the quality of that scepter was indeed up to German sewer standards; Fang Zheng had seen it withstand dozens of shell blasts without a scratch, leading him to wonder if the shells had even hit the scepter at all.

The pity was that the item was simply too short. Had it been a bit larger, Fang Zheng wouldn’t have minded using it as a shield.

“Foolish invaders, regret your greed!”

With yet another round of bombing, the defensive line set up by the two angels started to buckle. Before the smoke had even cleared, Fang Zheng heard a roar, and a towering Undead Sailor wielding a scimitar leapt out from the smoke, swinging forcefully at him.

What a pain!

Fang Zheng took a quick look around. The smoky haze was already filled with the sounds of more Undead Sailors. Without hesitation, he brandished his Sky-Cleaving Sword, which flashed a divine Radiance. With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed a strike that transformed the Holy Light into a huge hammer, striking the chest of the attacking sailor mid-jump and blowing him to pieces. Then Fang Zheng gripped the sword’s hilt in his backhand and thrust the Sky-Cleaving Sword into the ground with force.

Consecration!!

The ground split open, and holy flames erupted from the fissures. Every undead within a radius of several tens of meters was consumed by the blazing white fire. The fiery gusts mixed with debris formed vivid serpentine flames, entangling the Undead Sailors who couldn’t escape in time and reducing them to Ash within the holy Radiance.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Fang Zheng stretched out his hand and threw out more firewalls and Protective Barriers just in time to ward off another attack from the Undead Sailors.

But at that moment, a voice suddenly arose from the void.

“Ah, what a beautiful radiance… What have we here? A Paladin, how surprising. How did you get here?”

Damn, the big shot himself has shown up?

Upon hearing the sudden voice, Fang Zheng felt a sinking feeling in his heart, but fortunately, he was prepared for this. Nimph couldn’t disable the security silently, so when the alarm went off, the bearer of this scepter would naturally respond. Honestly, he was surprised it took them this long to arrive; Fang Zheng thought the reaction time was unexpectedly slow.

About thirty seconds left…

“That’s a trade secret, no comment.”

“How interesting…”

The voice laughed coldly at Fang Zheng’s response.

“Well, since you don’t wish to tell me, then I suppose we will have plenty of time to discuss the issue when you become my prisoner. We’ll revisit this matter then, my dear little mouse.”

“Whoosh!”

As soon as the voice stopped, Fang Zheng instantly felt a surge of damp air materialize; in the next moment, the roaring sea engulfed the streets and the burning houses in front of him, rushing towards him!

Damn, this defies science, doesn’t it? Where’s the opening CG and speeches before the BOSS shows up?

At the same time, Nimph’s voice once again reached Fang Zheng’s ears.

“Master, I’ve hacked the scepter’s base-level permissions!”

Now!

Without hesitation, Fang Zheng leapt into the air and stretched out his hand to grasp the Eye of All Phenomena that was suspended in the air.

In that instant, the entire world began to collapse.

“Boom——!”

Looking down, Fang Zheng could clearly see the plaza beneath his feet, already blasted into craters, now crumbling like a smashed cookie into the bottomless Dark Abyss. The massive wave pursuing him couldn’t resist gravity’s pull, failing to knock Fang Zheng from the sky, and instead, it poured straight down into the Black Hole of the Abyss.

Then, that voice rang out again, this time with a touch of annoyance.

“You actually erased my mark? How did you do it? No one can take the Eye of All Phenomena!”

Why should I tell you?

Fang Zheng rolled his eyes, then with a flash, he quickly moved to Tilia’s side, wrapping his arms around her and speeding forward again.

“Stop right there!”

With a roar, the raging waves surged towards Fang Zheng once more, and this time, it wasn’t just the waves trailing him—it was also those ghost ships, previously docked at the harbor and now as broken as sunken vessels, riding the winds and waves in pursuit of Fang Zheng.

This is seriously life-threatening!

With Tilia in one arm, Fang Zheng sprinted frantically forward. He finally understood why Nimph had warned him that taking the scepter would cause the entire space to become unstable. Not only was the ground beneath his feet collapsing and cracking like in some end-of-the-world movie from 2012, but there was also a towering wave dozens of meters high and ghost warships speeding atop the waves behind him. Even the skies above that had seemed pitch-black were now crashing down in large chunks, as if the earth-shattering cataclysm was about to bury him alive!

After all this trouble, turns out this damned scepter was a load-bearing wall!
