Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 540: Chapter 540: Return Mia Lane’s Money

”Barbara, have you finished work?” Her father’s familiar voice came through, tinged with some fatigue.

”I just finished, Dad.” She explained, ”I was just about to head back to the rental and call you. I’m almost there, just got off the bus. How’s Mom doing?”

”You don’t need to worry about your mom. The doctor said it was timely, and she can recover with surgery.” Her father told her.

”That’s really great.” Barbara Sutton felt somewhat relieved.

Her father said, ”Your friend came over, she helped find the best surgery specialist for your mom. She’s a top expert on this surgery with 30 years of clinical experience, and she even brought 250,000 yuan in cash.”

”My friend?” Barbara stopped in her tracks, utterly stunned, ”Who?” How could she have such a wealthy friend?

”Her name is Monica Usher.”

Did Monica go to Lyncroft County?

Barbara quickly regained her composure, ”What did you just say? She brought over 250,000 yuan in cash? How much does the surgery actually cost? Why did she bring the money?”

”It needed 200,000.” Her father informed her, ”Now that we’ve switched to a specialist, it might not even cost 200,000, because that person is a friend of Ms. Usher, so we can get a discount.”

”Why did she bring so much money?” Barbara was very uneasy and anxious, ”Did you accept it?” She really didn’t want to owe anyone so much!

”I chased her down to the building entrance to return it, but she wouldn’t take it, she said you should repay the money you borrowed first.” Her father was heartbroken, ”I thought the 200,000 was your savings...”

Savings?

How could she have so much savings just after graduating?

”Barbara, I just transferred 200,000 to your account, please check.” Her father said, ”She said you borrowed it from your new deputy manager, which really isn’t good. Your relationship... sigh, you should repay it first. Ms. Usher said she’s not in a hurry, you can repay her whenever you can, but we surely cannot be at ease, so... pay it back when you have money later, at least we can have more time.”

”Where is she now? Is she still in Lyncroft?”

”She’s already returned to Riventhal.”

”Okay.” Barbara resumed her steps forward and said softly, ”I’ll call her first, and please update me immediately about Mom’s situation.”

”You must thank her properly.” Her father seemed to see a glimmer of hope, ”The specialist will arrange for surgery as soon as possible.”

Barbara terminated the call and dialed Monica Usher’s number. It didn’t take long for the call to connect.

”Hello, Barbara.” Monica Usher was in a good mood, anticipating that she already knew.

”Monica...” Barbara was so moved that she didn’t know what to say, ”Thank you for going all the way to Lyncroft to see my mom. I, as her daughter, haven’t even gone back yet.”

”You don’t need to worry too much, your mom is doing well at the moment.” Monica assured her, ”Repay Mia’s money first, since you two have just started to interact and aren’t that close, borrowing money is quite awkward. I’m not in a hurry about my money, it doesn’t matter when you repay me, I won’t rush you.”

Barbara truly didn’t know what to say.

Monica further said, ”To repay her those 200,000, you would have to live frugally for two years; besides, dragging it out this long isn’t good.”

”I understand, Monica.”

They chatted a bit more, Monica informed her about the specialist’s situation, and Barbara felt reassured. Could he be like Hua Tuo reincarnated?

At this rate, the surgery not only can be discounted, but also has a high success rate!

”And don’t feel so uneasy.” Monica said to her, ”We’re friends, after all. Friends are supposed to help each other.”

”Thank you...” Her heart was filled with gratitude.

”Once the specialist determines the surgery time, we’ll go back together.” Monica had already planned, ”You should take a vacation then.”

Barbara nodded, ”Alright, I’ll wait for your arrangement.”

After hanging up, Barbara saw the transfer record on her phone—200,000.

It was the money transferred by Dad, and it was from Monica.
