Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 530: Chapter 530: This Money Is an Astronomical Figure

Barbara’s phone rang, and she said to Hailey Hale, ”Hailey, I’m going out to take a call.”

”Okay.” Hailey Hale was tasting cheese, ”Leave your plate here, I’ll watch over it for you.” She hadn’t finished taking photos of this area yet.

Barbara Sutton put down the plate she was holding and quickly stepped out of the banquet hall.

Just hearing the ringtone she could tell who it was, as it was specially set for family, because she had a frail and sickly mother at home.

The cool evening breeze blew, and Barbara Sutton reached the fountain, took out her phone, and answered, ”Hello, Dad.”

”Barbara, can you advance your salary from your boss this month?” Her father’s weary voice sounded urgent, ”Your mom’s old illness has flared up again; she was just rushed to the hospital. The doctor says she needs immediate surgery, and there’s no time to delay.”

This news was like a bolt from the blue for her!

”What did the doctor say? How much is needed?” Barbara Sutton was anxious and worried, ”How is Mom doing now?”

”You shouldn’t worry, she’s stabilized for the moment. We need 200,000 for the surgery upfront.”

”Alright, I will figure something out. Are you at the hospital now?”

”Yes, I’m at the hospital taking care of your mom; she can’t be left alone by the bed.”

Barbara Sutton heard the helplessness and concern in her father’s voice, as if she could see the tears at the corners of his eyes.

”I will figure something out, don’t worry,” she assured, ”I got a raise and there’s a bonus coming in half a year; tomorrow, tomorrow afternoon I will definitely send you the money!”

”Alright, Barbara, with you here, Dad feels at ease; we will surely get through this hardship.”

”...” Barbara shed silent tears.

Her father hung up, and she listened to the busy signal on the other end, lost and at a loss of what to do, with a heart set on rushing home but no money in her account...

She didn’t know what to do, 200,000 was an astronomical figure for her.

Originally, she had several thousand in her card, but the dress she was wearing had used up most of it, and the remaining money had to last until payday for rent.

Barbara Sutton no longer had the heart to return to the banquet hall or indulge in those rare desserts.

The banquet ended at eleven in the evening.

The guests gradually dispersed.

Back at Emerald Cove, Justin Kingston and Mia Lane were somewhat exhausted.

The children quickly went to bed, and Aunt Zhou carefully tucked them in and told them a bedtime story.

At this moment, Mia Lane was in the shower, the sound of running water could be heard.

Justin Kingston stood by the bedroom window, one hand in his pocket and holding the phone with the other, taking a call.

The person on the other end told him, ”CEO Kingston, we’ve found out who the designer of the Jade Pendant is.”

”Who?” Justin Kingston was excited, finally finding a breakthrough.

”It’s an Eldorian, named Johnson, I’ve sent someone to find him,” the other side sighed lightly, regretfully saying, ”But the news is he recently died of a stroke.”

Died?

Justin Kingston paused for a moment, ”Did he have a family? How old was he?” As long as he’s not living alone, clues can surely be found.

”Sixty years old, he had a 20-year-old daughter named Emily, currently living in Korland. It is said she inherited all of Johnson’s estate, but it’s unknown if she has the design documents.”

As a designer, what was created in which year and month must be recorded in detail.

”Please send Emily’s resume to my email.” Justin Kingston decided to personally go to Korland.

”It’s been sent, CEO Kingston, please review.”

”Alright, thank you.”

As the call ended, the sound of running water from the bathroom also stopped.

Justin Kingston finally breathed a sigh of relief; this matter had weighed heavily on his mind for a long time, and finally, there was some direction.
