Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Mia Lane’s Heartache

As the host, Justin Kingston did not take the initiative to greet her.

Mia Lane was too shy to say anything first. Since seeing him upon entering, her mind was somewhat blank.

Finally unable to withstand his direct gaze, Mia Lane averted her eyes, simply withdrawing her gaze.

”Miss Lane, you’re here?” Luckily, Aunt Zhou appeared in time. ”Good morning!” She walked over with a big smile.

”Good morning, Aunt Zhou.” Mia Lane smiled, her whole demeanor softened considerably.

Justin Kingston also resumed his steps downstairs.

Even Butler Shelby’s expression became gentle.

Aunt Zhou said to her, ”Breakfast is ready. Little Master Gigi and Miss Dolly are still upstairs. I’ll call them down for breakfast. You go to the dining room first.”

”Let me call them.” Mia Lane couldn’t wait to see the children. She smiled and held Aunt Zhou’s arm, ”You’ve worked hard, you must have been busy in the kitchen since early.”

”I’m so happy you came.” Aunt Zhou’s joy was undisguisable.

Mia Lane smiled and walked upstairs. As she passed by Justin Kingston, she deliberately avoided looking at him but could still feel the chilly aura.

Justin Kingston stood with his hands in his pockets, his tall body standing firm in the middle of the living room, his chin slightly lifted, eyes deep and dark.

”Good morning, Mr. Kingston.” The butler and Aunt Zhou greeted him, unable to guess his mood.

Was he unhappy that Miss Lane was here?

Last night he instructed them to make breakfast a bit more lavish today.

Upstairs.

Just as Mia Lane was about to press the doorbell of the children’s room, the door opened.

Gigi and Dolly appeared in front of her, ”Mommy!!” The little ones were extremely excited, immediately jumping into her arms.

”Children...” She was also very happy, her eyes a bit teary, squatting down before them and reaching out to hug them, ”Did you sleep well last night?”

”Missed Mommy too much, couldn’t sleep.”

”Me too,” Dolly rubbed her eyes.

Mia Lane’s heart ached for them. She gave a gentle kiss on their foreheads, ”Let’s go, time to eat breakfast.”

Then she held the children’s hands and led them downstairs, one on each side.

”Mommy, are you staying here tonight?”

”Probably not.” She could feel the children’s anticipation, ”But I can stay a bit longer with you.”

”Then stay until after dinner?”

”...” She did not answer, still needed to see Justin Kingston’s intentions.

”Daddy! Uncle Shelby! Aunt Zhou! Good morning!!” After rounding the corner of the stairs, Gigi was very excited.

Justin Kingston turned to look at them; it was a warm picture.

Dolly asked, ”Can we have breakfast now? I’m hungry!”

It wasn’t hard to see the children were in a good mood, with their chattering making the living room less somber.

Aunt Zhou replied happily, ”Good morning, Little Master Gigi, Miss Dolly, breakfast is ready!”

Downstairs, Gigi grasped Justin Kingston’s hand!

The little one held Mommy with one hand and Daddy with the other, ”Let’s go, time for breakfast!”

Mia Lane inexplicably felt a bit awkward, being too close to Justin Kingston, always feeling an inescapable cool aura.

The family of four headed to the dining room.

Justin Kingston caught the faint fragrance emanating from her. It was a peculiar scent that put him at ease, a familiar feeling.

He couldn’t help but glance at her, her complexion as white as jade, with long eyelashes lowered, like a cold rose in the night.

It pained him, made him want to protect her uncontrollably.

At this moment, his hatred toward her diminished slightly.

The family of four entered the dining room, Gigi let go of his father’s hand. He stood before his mother, looking up, ”Mommy! I want Daddy to eat with us! Can you make some tomato and egg noodles?”

Is his stomach still unwell?

Mia Lane looked at the sumptuous spread on the table and then glanced at him, ”...”

Their gazes met, he was calm, but she inexplicably felt a sense of heartache.

Hadn’t he been taking his medication on time?

Why?

If he had taken his medication on time, his stomach should have healed before the car accident.

Yet Justin Kingston couldn’t understand the meaning in her eyes, entirely forgetting that, on that night filled with longing for her, he once crushed the medicine bottle.

Nor did he remember that she developed stomach medicine for him.

Aunt Zhou’s expectant gaze also fell on Mia Lane. She said softly, ”Miss Lane, the tomatoes are already blanched and peeled, the noodles are prepared, and the eggs are beaten. You... can start cooking now.”

Mia Lane snapped back to reality, she looked towards the kitchen and saw the prepared ingredients.
