Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 463: Chapter 4: Tree of Wisdom

The trilobite squatted, with snacks in its mouth, like dried sweet potatoes and gummy bears, all of which were extraterrestrial goods more expensive than weapons.

Beside it, a bunch of little blue-skinned imps surrounded it, drooling over the snacks.

With a smug look, the trilobite stuffed the last piece of dried sweet potato into its mouth, then spread its hands out, with a ”what can you do about it” expression.

The blue-skinned imps immediately bared their teeth, wishing they could gnaw the trilobite clean.

However, the tribal warriors had already been watching, each holding a specially made spear to drive these juvenile Ocean People away.

Although this strange person was an outsider, after all, he was the lifesaver who protected the princess.

Even from a distance, the sounds of arguments in the tent could be clearly heard.

Attacking the Pureblood Faction, opposing the attack on the Pureblood Faction.

Venerable King, no, Venerable God Xiangyi Faction, or even radicals who wanted to eliminate the gods themselves.

In short, the high-ranking members of these branch Ocean People tribes were in a complete uproar.

Incidentally, the mixed-blood girl Pandora turned out to be the ’Princess’ of the Ocean People, daughter of a well-known mixed-blood elder, which explains why she could freely enter and exit the Holy Temple and participate in ocean festivals.

The trilobite, bored, stood up; the crystal-clear seawater only covering his ankles. He hadn’t expected such a marvelous world under the sea.

Various ferns emitting fluorescence, gigantic transparent flowers as large as tree crowns, spiritual crystal jellyfish, and that blue radiance seemingly etched in space, which according to the Ocean People, was the ’Radiance of the Gods.’

The center of the Radiance of the Gods was a super giant Tree of Wisdom, its roots connected to various radiation plants at the seabed, occupying hundreds of miles, its crown resting on the seafloor, with a faint water film between its leaves, and it was its existence that created this underwater space.

The Tree of Wisdom, also known as the Holy Tree, was a special transplant from the ’Holy Temple.’ Every branch tribe had such a Holy Tree.

Yet after all these years, the only Holy Tree that remained alive was the one before him, also the oldest one.

At its enormous tree roots, basketball-sized tree tumors grew, and many female Ocean People swam over to collect resin and fruit. These tumors were not grotesque at all and actually looked like blue watermelons.

The sap inside was pretty good too, tasting like sea salt flavored milk tea.

In the trilobite’s understanding, actually, Pure-blooded Ocean People and Mixed-blood Sea People were as different as two entirely separate species.

Pure-blooded Ocean People lived in high-radiation areas, their bodies deformed, growing tall and strong.

In contrast, Mixed-blood Sea People had smooth skin, were slightly shorter than humans, and had scales growing at some joints.

It’s said that the ancestors of Mixed-blood Sea People were slaves exiled from the ’Eye of the Ocean’ to plant trees.

”Oh, thank you.”

Receiving milk tea from a female Ocean Person, the trilobite took it, inserted a wooden straw into the ’coconut treasure,’ sipping while pondering.

In his view, a battle between the Pure-blood Elder class and the Mixed-blood Sea People was inevitable. Not considering their historical grievances, just the fact that Tribal Guards were capturing people everywhere, most of whom were juvenile Ocean People, indicated this battle must be fought.

However, regarding the war situation, the trilobite was pessimistic.

The reason is simple: Purebloods were naturally stronger than Mixed-blood Sea People, mostly level 20 and above, able to drive level 25 Tribal Guards, and more importantly, according to Pandora, they were ’Keramos’s loyal servants, capable of harnessing divine power.

This divine power seemed to be a large-scale AOE, indiscriminately sweeping effect like a large energy weapon.

Your side was still using small guns while the other had already unlocked strategic weapons; how could this battle be fought?

The trilobite shook his head, giving up pondering; after all, he had finished his mission of ’liberating the Ocean People,’ successfully sending the girl back to the ’Tree of Water,’ and he was free to go or stay.

He took one last look at the ’Tree of Wisdom,’ unsure if it was an illusion, but this super giant tree gave him a very intimate feeling.

The trilobite wandered around, while the mixed-blood high-ranking members hadn’t finished arguing, but soon a shocking bad news arrived.

The negotiation team of the mixed-blood high-ranking members was ambushed by the Eye of the Ocean, with the tribal hero in the Mixed-blood Sea People’s hearts, Charjin, severely injured, over a thousand elite Ocean People slain, and all they brought back were corpses.

By the time the trilobite reached the entrance, the surrounding Ocean People were already in tears, many relatives even threw themselves on the bodies.

”Brother, where is my brother?”

”My son, Kars, you promised to bring my son back!”

”My sister, where is she?!”

”...”

This game just had this one flaw, always being overly real in places it wasn’t supposed to be real.

Seeing all those tearful faces, the trilobite shook his head and left voluntarily.

Too old to bear witnessing such tragedies.

...

The deep sea at night wasn’t completely dark; in this underwater world, there were always some glowing radiation fish schools swimming outside the water film, looking like an oversized gathering of fireflies, fist-sized, basketball-sized, even house-sized fireflies.

These house-sized ’super fireflies’ had another title, known as Cloud Wing Beasts, roughly around level 28.

The trilobite sat on a branch as thick as a waist, and at the empty spot next to him, Pandora had somehow sat down.

”The elders have made up their minds, we have to leave this sea region.”

”A wise decision.”

Fighting a losing battle is usually something only players would do; developing while lying low is the true path.

Pandora glanced around in confusion, then suddenly sobbed a few times and gently rested her head on the trilobite’s shoulder.

”But where can we even go?”

This was a question the trilobite could not answer.

Feeling the softness on his shoulder, the trilobite opened the system panel several times, only to find the task bar empty.

The trilobite sighed deeply, well, if it’s a loss, so be it.

”I’ll accompany you during the migration process.”

...

In the vast deep sea, the sound of torpedo explosions merged into a continuous blast. Although the water membrane had strong defensive power, it was swaying and about to collapse from the explosions, parts of the water membrane had already been blown open, and a large amount of seawater began to seep in.

At this moment, a large number of spherical robots appeared in the underwater world, starting to attack and hunt madly.

All adult Ocean People dashed forward, both sides fighting fiercely in the dark sea region.

Honestly, the mixed-blood Sea People weren’t weak; typically level 17 or 18, a level that players would reach only after several modifications.

However, their opponents were even stronger.

Level 25 Tribal Guards, level 28 Pure-blooded Sea Warriors, and more of them... members of the Knight Order.

Damn! Now the trilobite finally understood what those weird ’monitoring equipment’ were used for.

So you were accomplices in hunting the mixed-blood Sea People, huh!

The trilobite gritted his teeth, his hands completely transformed, fingers turning into shark-like sharp teeth, flipping his feet, his figure deftly swayed in the water while the ’three-dimensional maneuvering device’ on his waist launched, hooking cleverly onto the leg of a modified human, both of them passing by each other.

The next moment, the metal skull exploded on the spot.

The trilobite’s intermediate mechanical skill directly enhanced the ’Rainy Night Knife Killing Skill’.

In the period when Gao Gong was away, under the roles of countless excellent Hunters, this ’technique’ passed down personally by the leader had been upgraded through many generations, developing different streams.

For instance, this one was an underwater killing stream, with seawater skillfully maneuvered by the trilobite, instead of being an obstacle, it became a source of power enhancement.

No time to look at the increased experience on the system panel, the trilobite swam swiftly, appearing next to an Ocean People youth, grabbed him, and flung him away.

”Fool, didn’t I warn you guys, when your health drops below two-thirds, don’t go fighting hard!”

Sure enough, the previously severely injured ’metal soldier’ went berserk, countless fleshy spikes bursting from its surface, moving at bullet speed, the trilobite protected his vitals, yet felt his blood volume drop by half instantly.

Unlike the ’biomechanical unity’ of advanced combatants, the ’biomechanical burst’ of low-level cannon fodder is more like a death technique; once used, the skull drops dead on the spot.

Annoying even after death, that’s what makes this monster the most disgusting.

”Damn it, dropped in status!”

Barely dodging a Tribal Guard’s claw, the trilobite found himself surrounded by three skulls again.

Struggling to entangle one skull with a single-molecule rope, trading one-fourth of his blood volume for another, the remaining two, wielding specially-made underwater weapons, charged again.

’If I die, will Pandora be sad for me?’

Just as that bizarre thought flashed through the trilobite’s mind, a loud laugh echoed.

A giant beast lunged forward, biting off a skull, while the blue-skinned strong man atop the beast wielded a spear as thick as a thigh, smashing another.

’Damn it, as expected of a level 30 monster; even after sustaining such severe injuries before, this guy has definitely achieved carbon fusion!’

The one before him was the super hero of the mixed-blood Sea People—Charjin.

Charjin grabbed the trilobite and lifted him onto the beast’s back, riding it to sweep through the battlefield, even level 25 Tribal Guards were skewered by his spears in one strike.

Only when seven or eight Pure-blood Warriors teamed up could they barely hold him back. After Charjin led his mixed-blood elite for a counter charge, finally, the tide-like enemy receded.

The remaining mixed-blood elites looked at each other, not showing any joy, the atmosphere so heavy it seemed to freeze.

Just as the trilobite landed, he was caught by several mixed-blood girls, who very attentively started treating him.

”No, no, no, I have red potions, go help others, I don’t need them.”

Alas, nobody paid him any attention.

The trilobite rolled his eyes in frustration, allowing himself to be ’tied up’ by them.
