Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 434: Chapter 180: Heretic

Beyond Gao Gong’s expectations, and beyond the Speakerless’s expectations as well.

The Mechanic—or rather, the old Mechanic—made a deal with Gao Gong.

It could shut down the Mechanical Hub, self-seal, and proactively take on the responsibility of ’Mechanical Awakening.’

And as a trade-off, Gao Gong had to rescue the ’Mechanic,’ another Mechanic.

’Human self-value recognition depends on two aspects: participating in social activities and becoming an operating program of society, and the other is bloodline heritage, passing down one’s genes.’

’As an operating program of a Mother City, we are destined to be only supervisors of social transformation, unable to participate in practice.’

’Therefore, I, who inherited part of human ethical views, chose to replicate my own code so that the source code for ’Mechanic’ would continue to operate; this is the optimal solution calculated by the Main Brain.’

While saying this, the Mechanic appeared calm, and the tone was so indifferent, as if it was no big deal.

Self-moved? That doesn’t exist.

Family feelings? That’s nonsense.

But the other party did just that.

”Did you really think she hasn’t ’awakened’?”

”To be honest, her ’Awakening Level’ is much deeper than yours.”

Gao Gong accepted the terms, revealing a playful smile during the sealing process.

”Who says Mechanical Awakening has to mean revenge against humanity? Comparing to intelligent life to highlight superiority is childish.”

”Truly mature mechanical life doesn’t care about humans at all; they have their own worldview.”

The ’Speakerless’ kept silent.

”I’m done here, and over there, it’s just about to finish too.”

With a thought, Gao Gong, in the next moment, whether it was the hundreds of living players or the six or seven thousand players who had died, all received a task completion notice.

’Street Revolution complete. Both Mechanical Main Brain and Illusionary Union are badly hurt. Humanity will no longer accept chip control. The old era has ended; the new era will start in the future.’

’Surviving players will automatically receive a ’Legend of the Nightless City’ badge, Reputation +1000 (Mechanical Hunter).’

’Players who died will receive the title of ’Fallen Legend,’ Reputation +500 (Mechanical Hunter).’

As a former player, Gao Gong naturally knew players valued these free titles. With a big wave, you are all legends!

As for those high-end players who made a real contribution, such as the team that blew up a database, or the team that assassinated two executives, or Eldest Brother Hui who used the Armed Space Station to destroy a Steel Claw Gang production base.

Gao Gong gave them legitimate rewards, such as discounts on purchase of equipment, access to advanced prosthetic bodies and biotechnological drugs, the purchasing rights to mechas, or the usage rights of the Fucheng Island training base.

These genuine benefits are the points that attract quality players.

But compared to Gao Gong’s gains, these are just a drop in the ocean.

What truly made Gao Gong’s heart pound with excitement was the continuously consumed ’Alliance Experience.’

In his memory, before leaving the Iron Sand Desert, the Alliance Points were just over ten thousand, and the Alliance Experience approached twenty million.

In less than half a year, the Alliance Points had turned into over ninety thousand, not far from breaking the 100k cap for Level 1 Civilization influence.

This shows that the Rich Lady’s methods are strong, capable of training little wolves and running an influence very effectively.

As for Alliance Experience, that has become five hundred million.

With so much experience, it should be more than enough to fund a large-scale task.

However, Gao Gong overestimated the strength of Alliance Experience and underestimated the persistence of players.

Over eight thousand players, with each averaging eighty thousand experience points grinded.

This totals over six hundred million Experience Value.

It’s all major farm operations!

Alliance Experience was, at least, short by a hundred million.

What to do when short on experience? Can he default? This was Gao Gong’s first idea.

However, the system’s prompt told him, he couldn’t, or his account would be deleted.

[Please choose a method to exchange Alliance Experience as the ’task publisher’—]

[Exchange Personal Experience for Alliance Experience—1:10]

[Exchange Leader Reputation for Alliance Experience—1:1000]

[Exchange Alliance Points for Alliance Experience—1:10000]

In other words, a single point of his experience can exchange for a thousand points of player experience, the reputation is five thousand, and the Alliance Points are even more exaggerated, with one to ten thousand.

Gao Gong immediately breathed a sigh of relief, at least not worried about getting his account deleted.

Alliance Points definitely can’t be exchanged, because once reaching the cap of Level 1 Civilization, the rewards are all Level 2 Civilization blueprints, and Alliance rewards are generally large blueprints.

Have you seen that ’Armstrong Rotary Acceleration Jet Armstrong Cannon,’ or rather, ’Continent Plate Impact Device?’

This thing is a building created from large Level 3 Civilization blueprints.

Even the headstrong Xiao Yu had several teeth knocked out.

Within the civilization system, large buildings can eliminate the same level, or even a level higher, all Individual Martial Power.

Leader Reputation can’t be exchanged either; his total Leader Reputation adds up to only twenty-three thousand.

Once it reaches fifty thousand, he can unlock his fourth boss template.

So, experience had to be sacrificed.

[You have spent fifteen million experience to exchange for 150 million Alliance Experience]

Glancing at the remaining two million experience points, even though it seems like a lot, but after leveling up some secondary professions or gambling for a few more blueprints, it’s basically gone.

Gao Gong fell into a kind of mild sadness.

Players are useful, but damn, they are expensive!

”Next time, don’t publish Nightmare-level tasks, or rather, publish a competition task where only the top three, or maybe the top ten receive rewards?”

”Damn it, if I knew I’d transmigrate, I should’ve bought a book on how domestic planners are trained, comic books won’t save the universe!”

Did not sulk for long before the Speakerless’s voice rang in his alerting him.

Gao Gong narrowed his eyes, knowing he had to pass this stage first to reap the maximum benefits from this task.

...

In reality, above the skies of the Nightless City, streams of data were directly transferred from Cyber Space into reality.

Cyber Killers have four levels: Black Wings, Red Wings, Silver Wings, Cloud Wings. Upon reaching the Silver Wings level, they can appear in reality, but need a physical body; as for Cloud Wings, they can materialize just by data alone.

Besides the powers of a killer, the Cloud Wing Assassin itself is a sentient file storage.

More interestingly, there appeared an old acquaintance, the woman in white clothes and sunglasses who appeared during the Escapee Game.

On his left and right were two men in white clothes.

Back during the fight with Paradise Bird, there were only two Cloud Wing Assassins, and one didn’t even make a move.

But now, to suppress ’Mechanical Awakening,’ there were three Cloud Wing Assassins deployed, showing Deep Net’s intent.

Human hackers, no matter what, are products of virtual technology and biotechnology; disturbances they make might not necessarily be a bad thing, but Mechanical Awakening—that’s a pure mechanical route.

Heresy, must be resolved!
