Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 419: Chapter 169: Maniacal Celestial Calamity

The 3D-printed train was brand new and tidy inside and out, yet the carriage where the players were was a chaotic mess.

All sorts of shouting, arguing, and offers to pay big money for chips could be heard non-stop.

”Bullets for sale, bullets for sale! Handgun bullets, shotgun bullets, smart bullets, all models available. If you want them, hit me up!”

”Want a missile launcher? A must-have for attacking NPC lairs, and you can get it now for just 10,000 Mechanic Tokens!”

”Are there any melee Transformers? Bionic brothers and robot brothers welcome, mutants get lost!”

”Looking for a nurse with specialized skills, and a Neuro Transformer with three hacker skills, come join our firepower team, we’re four short of one, aimed at boss battles.”

”Offering big money for chips, offering big money for chips, who has implantable chips, I am willing to pay handsomely!”

”Ho ho ho, you’re done for, without a chip, you can only follow the storyline.”

...

In one carriage, however, there was a long queue.

Baozi, wearing welding goggles, was focused on controlling two mobile surgical arms, which were attached to his back and looked like a shrunken, foldable version of Dr. Octopus.

These two surgical arms were skillfully opening the mechanical back of a player’s head, adjusting the micro-circuits, and implanting the ’Laughing Bat’ chip.

”Every time I see this scene, it feels particularly creepy,” said Sister Ji.

Watching the strands of ’Zhenzi’ hair in front of him and the wriggling implant threads, Eldest Brother Hui decisively chose to remain silent.

”By the way, why are you here?” Sister Ji asked again.

”It’s rare to have a large-scale event, why not participate,” Eldest Brother Hui calmly adjusted his black top hat and said.

”I just didn’t expect Boss Hui to bring so many lackeys, seems like expanding the business is quite promising,” Baozi said enviously while performing surgery.

”I’ve sometimes considered going into business, maybe opening a branch or something.”

”It’s not that simple,” Eldest Brother Hui shook his head and said, ”The business mode in this game is particularly realistic. Once you enter management, there are many constraints, and you can’t just roam around like a regular player anymore. Like Brother Umbrella, he couldn’t come because of this reason.”

”After all, as an advanced assassin, you can’t just kill anyone casually. It’s lucky Brother Umbrella can stand the loneliness, if it were me, I would have deleted my account and run off already,” Big Muscle Dominator said while checking his newly installed gorilla arm without even lifting his head:

”I suggest you complete the level 20 job transition task first, Baozi. By the way, does your job transition task provide a bonus to sub-professions?”

”It should have an impact. According to players from other planets, if a player reaches level 20 on the civilian route, they can merge their sub-profession with the main profession.”

”Civilian level 20, Prosthetic Doctor level 10, once I complete these two job transition tasks, I’ll need to do the profession merge task.”

”By then, I’ll most likely be opening a new map. Who wants to be my bodyguard? I offer free prosthetic maintenance service.”

While chatting idly, Baozi closed the back of the head of the Transformer undergoing modification.

”Does your attribute panel show anything like two bars that look like the blood volume bar?”

”Oh, they appeared.”

”The black one is called the Chaos Bar, and the white one is called the Order Bar; we usually call them the Black and White Stripes.”

”The chip’s base bonus is +5% neural reaction, +1 Intelligence, +1 Perception, the Black Stripe adds Critical Strike, and the White Stripe adds accuracy; just like an energy bar. When you fill up either of the Black and White Stripes, your attributes will temporarily increase. Some pros tested it, and filling up the Black and White Stripes can boost neural reaction by up to +30%, and all attributes by +5. Plus, during this process, randomly some of your skills will be enhanced.”

”Damn! That’s so powerful! It’s even better than an ’Excellent’ level prosthetic bonus.”

”Temporary, temporary, how many times do I have to stress that?” Baozi said impatiently, ”And look at the notes, using it too much will cause irreversible damage to the neural system.”

”If you don’t want to delete your account and start over, it’s best to remove this thing after the task ends.”

”Remember, it’s a one-time use item!”

”This is such a waste.”

The player mumbled.

”By the way, how do these Black and White Stripes increase? By fighting monsters?”

”Figure it out yourself; what’s the fun in playing a game by following walkthroughs? Pay up, pay up, settle the rest of the surgery fee.”

The player paused, his hand instinctively reaching for his wallet.

The Black Stripe suddenly increased by 5%.

The player’s expression remained unchanged, but his eyes flickered. Taking advantage of the others not paying attention, he quickly bolted out of the carriage.

”Ha ha, sucker, who pays for surgery in-game! You think this is real life?”

Red Flower Demon rested on his gun looking at the sky, Sister Ji browsed porn online, Eldest Brother Hui checked task descriptions, and Baozi sorted surgical tools.

Before long, a group of Mafia NPCs with over 40% transformations pressed the player back, pointing their dark gun barrels at him.

Baozi glanced at him and said:

”Now do you know how to raise the Black and White Stripes?”

The player laughed dryly: ”I know, I know.”

”Then pay up and leave. Of course, you can also enjoy a three-day offline holiday free of charge.”

”Pay, I’ll pay!!”

”Next time you want a free meal, remember to wear a mask. Look, here’s a complimentary surgical gift; remember to wear it next time you collect Black Stripe points.”

Baozi nodded toward the wall, where a metallic laughing bat mask was hanging.

After paying up, the player scurried away shamefully, and Baozi couldn’t help but rant to his acquaintances:

”Didn’t they say players don’t scam players? Damn, why is everyone thinking of skipping out on the bill? Can’t anyone pay me more in appreciation of my surgical skills?”
