Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 420: Chapter 169: Maniacal Laughter of the Celestial Calamity_2

”This chip amplifies the good and evil in human nature, corresponding to temptations on the evil side. After all, this is a game, and among the players in the game who can keep their true selves, how many do you think there are?”

Eldest Brother Hui waved his hand, and this group of family Transformers slightly bowed, silently retreating back.

This kind of scene has already happened over a dozen times in just one hour.

”Then Nightless City is doomed,” Baozi complained.

”Not necessarily, while it’s easier to be tempted, it’s also easier to be moved,” Sister Ji glanced at Big Muscle Dominator, commenting: ”For example, this one here, took a loan to buy gorilla arms just to uphold justice. I’ve heard of taking loans to buy houses, but never heard of taking loans to be a hero. Are you the legendary Loan Knight?”

Big Muscle Dominator shrugged: ”Anyway, it’s just a game. Having my own fun is what matters most. I just can’t stand those people who create trouble for no reason.”

Baozi sighed, ”Whatever, suit yourselves. Anyway, when I implanted the chips into you guys, I included a switch program. You decide when to turn it on and off.”

While they were chatting, the train window was knocked on, and everyone looked up to find the Plane riding a mutant giant eagle.

”Mechanical Eyeliner is here, everyone store away your weapons and equipment for now.”

”I’m heading back to the carriage too, see you around.”

The wings of the eagle turned, accompanied by a strong wind sound and energy light flow, the mutant bird accelerated like a flying device, and the flapping of its wings even produced a sound burst.

”This bird is quite cool, but the Plane is a bit awkward. Switching with my style would be just right.”

”It’s so nice. Advanced eagle baby, when will I be able to fly, Baozi? When can you install wings?”

”Don’t daydream, you can only install the human flight system after reaching level 30. At the current leveling speed, it’ll take at least four months.”

”Why do I feel like seeing birds is like seeing people?” Sister Ji, being Sister Ji, always speaks in bold remarks.

”There is a bit of a familiar feeling,” Eldest Brother Hui rubbed his rosy chin, puzzled: ”The bird goes so well with the Plane, a custom advanced gene beast?”

Soon, the uproar among the players quieted down, and with a ’bang,’ the iron door of the train was forced open. It was like a scene from a sci-fi horror movie, with a large number of Mechanical Eyeliners spewing out, scanning with countless red spotlight-like searchlights. When the red light swept over the players and confirmed their identities, it immediately landed on their shoulders, deploying two electronic drills to forcibly implant the basic version of the Moral Chip.

Compared to them, Baozi is simply an Angel, at least he wouldn’t shatter your skull.

After these monsters left, Baozi rubbed the back of his head, wiping away a patch of blood, and couldn’t help but complain: ”Lost a fifth of my blood volume, and they didn’t even use an anesthetic. Those experiencing 100% real sensations will have a blast.”

”Huh?”

Lines of text scrolled across the system panel.

’Moral Chip implantation completed, Laughing Bat chip officially activated—’

’With the blessing of the Moral Chip, the recharge speed of order and good and evil values increases by 300%’

’The faster the recharge speed, the higher the attribute bonus’

’My heart and my actions are as clean as a mirror, everything I do is for justice—attributed to Zhou·Tree·Person’

”What the hell,” seeing this annotation, Baozi gaped.

”So this thing is used this way? Enhanced Drama Enjoyer?”

I don’t know if it’s an illusion, but Baozi seemed to feel countless mischievous eyes lighting up.

...

Meanwhile, in the chip processing center of Illusionary Union, a Neural Editor suddenly noticed something wrong and quickly informed the person in charge.

Soon, a group of Experts entered, led by the chief scientist Dr. Murray.

The Neural Editor reported the abnormality to Dr. Murray.

”Unable to receive anti-moral data? How is this possible,” a top neurologist frowned: ”Everyone has evil thoughts, everyone has ideas that deviate from worldly morals, it’s determined by human biology.”

”Even an infant has a desire for the instinct to survive. When absolutely starving, cannibalism isn’t impossible. Without such impulse, it’s not human.”

”Moral gentlemen and ideal people throughout history have just restrained their evil thoughts, but it’s not like they have none. Those without any aren’t even carbon-based creatures.”

The Neural Editor didn’t respond but brought up a holographic map.

There were many green dots on the map, in the tens of thousands.

”They’re all people from the Crime City, which makes it even more impossible!”

An Expert pushed aside the Neural Editor and actively opened the background of the Moral Chip. Indeed, there wasn’t a single crime data point on the transmission path, and the upload speed was 0kb.

”Are these the first-generation Moral Chips?” Dr. Murray suddenly asked.

”Yes, these chips are the earliest, no longer in production. The last batch should be in the Main Brain Area.”

”Why does Lord Mechanic want to implant outdated Moral Chips? Doesn’t it know these chips are flawed?”

”It should be an issue with the chips themselves, a compatibility issue between old and fourth-generation chips?”

”Or is it that Crime City has developed some black technology to evade Moral Chip screening?”

”All impossible.”

Dr. Murray calmly said: ”The basic principle of the Moral Chip is grounded in the fundamental ethical and moral concepts that emerged from the inception of intelligent life on this planet.”

”Even in this ethically chaotic and morally fragmented era, morality remains morality, all chaos is built on the foundation of morality.”

”Except for violent cracking, the chip can’t possibly have an issue.”

”So, there are only two possibilities: either all these people are Aliens.”

”And the other?”

”They’re not human.”

Dr. Murray let out a long sigh and said: ”Dispatch the Peacekeepers, capture every one of these people without exception.”

”This matter is crucial, I’ll apply to the board to let you deploy Advanced Peacekeepers.”

Dr. Murray hurriedly left, leaving the group of Experts looking at each other.

After a long while, one Expert murmured to himself.

”Not human? Could such a person exist?”

...

Are players human? Strictly speaking, they’re really not.

Their morality is based on game rules, in pvp, you won’t see civilized people, in eroge, you won’t see serious people, in roguelike, you won’t see casual players.

Their morality is ’none.’

And what are the game rules of the Cyber Realm?

Honestly, Gao Gong who played until the late game in his past life didn’t quite understand either.

Since he didn’t figure it out, he doesn’t think the other side can figure it out either.

Since no one understands it, solving the problem becomes easier.

Leave the problem to the players.

...

Quickly, players faced their first wave of enemies.

Peacekeepers at level 25.

Their number was about twice that of the players.

Their ferocious firepower brought great surprise.

”Holy crap, so many enemies!”

”Support, support! Need a healer, can’t hold on!”

”As expected from a Nightmare-level Task, so intense right off the bat!”

The fierce battle quickly played out in various parts of the city.

Nightless City immediately turned into a new Crime City.

...

”Has the game started?”

In the Cyber Network, watching the network nodes of Nightless City turn from pure white to gray, Gao Gong murmured to himself.

It’s hard to wash off a stain, but to dye black, just a drop of ink is enough.

What’s scarier is that this ink can change color randomly, making it impossible to confirm if it’s black or white.

”The players who transformed into Laughing Bats, will they become Jokers, or transform into Dark Knights? It’s quite intriguing to think about.”

”Without your support with the Moral Chips, I really couldn’t have achieved this.”

The reason chips could quickly mass-produce, besides the high mechanical technology of the Cyber Test Field, is for another reason.

’Laughing Bat’ chip, in essence, is a supplement to the ’Moral Chip,’ a corresponding product.

One is responsible for building the moral wall.

One is responsible for triggering emotions.

Without the former, the latter couldn’t function effectively.

Even players, finding 100% purities of perverts are very few.

Only for players, morality is ’none,’ allowing them to completely unleash their nature.

All Gao Gong did was ignite the calamity nature of the 4th Celestial Calamity in advance.
