Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 404: Chapter 159: Signs of a Rift (Part 2)

Gao Gong had a thought, and in the next moment, data gates opened one by one. Vast amounts of data were transferred here, pouring down like a flood.

After receiving so much data, the data swamp quickly bubbled up, each bubble seeming like a network node.

After leaving a data imprint, Gao Gong decisively vanished.

Transferring and assimilating large amounts of data is like having diarrhea for Lord Mechanic—except, crucially, the kind where you can’t poop.

Data rainbow lights began flashing everywhere. When they flashed upon Gao Gong, a visible ripple spread across his body.

As more rainbow lights appeared, Gao Gong’s range of movement became smaller and smaller.

Although Lord Mechanic couldn’t locate the ’four-dimensional data,’ the big data calculations could step by step approach Gao Gong’s position.

If they could truly pinpoint his location, Gao Gong didn’t doubt they had a way to drag him out of the quantum entanglement state.

After all, Mechanical City and Mother City, both belonging to advanced civilizations, possessing some trans-civilization level weaponry was not surprising.

For instance, like the Black Hole Weapon of the previous era.

However, Gao Gong achieved his goal.

He found Chapai.

In the next moment, a gate of data took form in front of him and slowly opened, revealing a giant can before Gao Gong’s eyes.

Oh ho, he was familiar with this thing. In the previous era, at least half of the players ended up being put inside biological cans.

And the ancient mechanical civilization behind Mother City was a major producer of biological cans.

Name: Biological Can (Fortress Type III)

Category: Biological Storage Device

Quality: Level 3 Civilization - Fine

Weight: 5.5kg

Module: Biological Digestor, Biological Generator, Biological Storage Box, Spiritual Sealer

Note: A special species freezer with a vast reputation in the universe, though not many civilizations are capable of producing it

This thing is also called the man-made version of Eternal Hell.

If left without interference, it can continually operate for thousands of years, maintaining the ’can’s’ activity.

Some civilizations use this device for the ’Exile to the Star Sea’ punishment.

Gao Gong finally understood why a superpower user like Chapai could be easily imprisoned—many carbon-based powerhouses were spiritual power experts, and an important attribute of the biological can is its complete isolation, rendering spiritual energy unable to escape, and preventing the formation of a second personality.

Biological cans are difficult to open. After all, every ’species’ placed inside was never intended to be released again. Saying it’s a one-way path is not an exaggeration.

Unlocking a biological can definitely requires the craftsmanship of a cosmic-level master.

And conveniently, Gao Gong had that skill.

The reason he learned it was simple; he feared one day his player identity would be exposed, and he’d end up in a biological can like other fools by a Level 9 Civilization.

By then, he could at least save himself.

For a Level 9 civilization’s biological can, he wouldn’t dare say he could certainly unlock it, but a Level 3 civilization’s biological can? Piece of cake!

With eyes closed, he flicked his hand, tossing out two ’Hacker’s Guns,’ and this time, the bullets were also in a ’quantum entangled state.’

Straddling between reality and the virtual.

The gunfire barely ceased, until the bullets were spent, and in reality, the biological can door slowly creaked open with a squeak.

Inside, Chapai opened his eyes.

”Yo, still alive, huh?”

”Damn it, I’ll file a complaint when we get back to Mother City!”

Chapai had countless colorful words to express, but Gao Gong stopped him.

”Say it once we’ve completely left.”

Above the Nightless City, thunder and lightning, with clouds made from data layers blocking almost every ray of light, it was clear that Lord Mechanic was in a rage.

Pupil, who had already left the city, looked on worriedly.

In the eyes of a Neural Modeler, she saw something terrifying.

A special mechanical creature began descending from the clouds, resembling an oversized mechanical dragonfly, or a large drone.

The main structure was densely covered with red eyeballs.

Name: Omen

Category: Neural Machine

Level: 35

Basic Attributes: ??

Skills: Punishment of Evil (Level 2 Civilization - Advanced), Super EMP (Level 2 Civilization - Advanced), Neural Network Shuttling (Level 2 Civilization - Advanced), Light of Judgment (Level 2 Civilization - Elite), ??, ??

Note 1: A special neural machine, containing a large amount of brain structure, and storing vast virus data

Note 2: It is not an organism, but it’s a special machine capable of greatly interfering with biological energy

At the same time, through the ’Unmanned,’ Gao Gong saw numerous mechanical claw people, these close combat robots were parkour-speeding over rooftops and buildings, closing in on him.

Moreover, more peacekeepers, elites, and some powerhouses above Level 30 began appearing on the streets.

The experts in Nightless City were numerous, including not only the Powerful Gang and Steel Claw Gang but also more mercenary organizations, bounty hunters, and even advanced viruses. These individuals wouldn’t give face to others, but they must to Lord Mechanic.

After all, with Lord Mechanic’s protection, they wouldn’t need implants.

”Headstrong one, this Lord Mechanic.”

Being an experienced player, confrontational brute force was never his style, so having rescued the person, Gao Gong planned to escape.

Under his manipulation, countless accounts began to ’log off,’ their data streams dissipating according to normal procedures, returning to the databases of various mechanical systems.

Gao Gong’s ’Unmanned’ was pushed to its limits, and indeed, he saw a massive shadow.

It was the silhouette of the old Lord Mechanic!

’Fortunately, I have a third plan.’

In the next moment, Gao Gong returned to the side of Paradise Bird and Gao Yuanyuan, informing them of his plan.

Both of them nodded in agreement. In the next instant, they transformed into information life, entwining around Gao Gong. With half of Gao Gong’s mechanical body becoming informational, and half of Gao Gong’s biological body doing the same, the three of them disappeared from the scene simultaneously.

And as they vanished, a small black box passed through layers of data, landing in that massive shadow, swiftly swallowed by it.

”No!!!”

Lord Mechanic’s scream echoed through the sky.

...

Three days later, Nightless City had returned to its usual calm—not that Nightless City was ever truly calm.

What was calm was merely the city implanted with chips.

Hugh Laurie sat in his boss’s chair, still approving documents, showing no difference from his usual demeanor.

Yet in the next moment, his vision darkened, and his consciousness seemed to be transferred to another world, filled with multicolored rainbow lights.

Hugh Laurie wasn’t surprised, slightly bowing.

”Lord Mechanic.”

Lord Mechanic’s voice resounded, unlike the calmness of the old Lord Mechanic, it was filled with a kind of evil Qi emanating from the data layer.

The moral chip was like a precise blade, excising all human evil, and those excised evils were sent to Lord Mechanic’s data processor.

”I hear the moral chip has been updated to the fourth generation?”

”All data is under your control,” Hugh Laurie responded respectfully.

”Pause the chip’s upgrade cycle,” said Lord Mechanic.

The President visibly froze for a moment, hesitating before asking, ”May I ask why?”

Without hiding the intention, Lord Mechanic said, ”I plan to assimilate Sunless City’s artificial data, completely digest my mother, and become the sole Lord Mechanic.”

”Is it possible to wait another month, until the fourth generation moral chip is perfected, by then, with the aid of the Human Completion Plan, your chances would be greater, wouldn’t they, Lord Mechanic?”

”The headquarters people have escaped, you know what this means, we don’t have much time.”

”But suddenly releasing a large amount of Crime City’s artificial data would impact the hardly-progressed plan.”

”That’s your problem, Hugh Laurie, remember how you convinced me to support you!”

”Or are you intending to break our initial agreement?”

”I wouldn’t dare,” Hugh Laurie slightly bowed his head, ”I merely wanted to remind you, taking action so hastily might fall into Mr. G’s trap.”

”Just do your own job, clone!”

Hugh Laurie lifted his head, finding Lord Mechanic’s phantom had already vanished.

”Quite the calculation,” Hugh Laurie muttered to himself, as his horizon was now covered in bright white light over Nightless City, with only a few specks of color left to be eliminated before the Human Completion Plan would be complete.

Yet once the artificial data of the two Mechanical Cities merged, it would greatly disrupt this state, even completely undermining the plan.

This was all because the old Lord Mechanic had obtained the small black box.

Or perhaps the other’s actions had presented a strong threat even to Lord Mechanic.

’Pushing me to break from Lord Mechanic?’
