Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 994: Chapter 671: Driving People Away, Li Yu’s Thoughts

In the First Outer City, Li Yu arranged for Old Qin, Lao Zhou, Luo, Old Bi, Lao Yi, and some extra staff to harvest the crops in the greenhouses of the First Outer City.

Inside the Inner City, Father Li, Ding Jiu, and others, along with Old Lv, were tasked with harvesting the crops within the Inner City.

In Doomsday, the importance of food is extremely high, and everyone knows this.

Therefore, to prevent some extra staff or cooperative personnel from secretly hiding food, they adopted a method of body searching before entering and after exiting the greenhouse.

With people from the Outer City watching at all times, there shouldn’t be any major problems.

The three harvesters worked very quickly.

One harvester can harvest 80 acres in a day.

Spread out over three places, the harvesting speed increased even more.

With everyone working together, all the grains were harvested in just one morning.

To preserve the rice, it had to be sun-dried, so during the harvest, many people were clearing out the cement walkways to sun-dry the rice on them.

When Li Yu announced this, he faced opposition from Second Uncle and Uncle.

They thought that using food to tempt someone who couldn’t even eat enough daily was unnecessary; they believed that harvesting the crops didn’t need the help of extra staff or cooperative personnel, they could do it themselves.

For the first time, Li Yu was so stubborn, even using his voting rights as a leader of the Big Camphor Tree Base to get the two to agree.

Li Yu’s actions were not without reason. With the rise in temperature, some cooperative personnel and extra staff wanted to go out on missions immediately, but Li Yu knew that if they let them out now, they might die.

The flood is not terrifying; as long as you find a high ground, you can survive.

However, in the flood of Doomsday, it’s not just the flood; there are also more powerful zombies stimulated by the water.

Zombies + flood, extremely terrifying!

If they let them all out now, they would definitely go to collect supplies and other things to trade in for rewards.

Then it’s highly likely that when the flood comes, they would be overwhelmed.

Xin City is full of hills and mountainous terrain.

The Big Camphor Tree Base itself is located on relatively high ground, otherwise, there wouldn’t be a cliff nearby.

The hundreds of meters of rural roads leading from the highway are all on an upward slope.

And they needed a reason to let them stay, which was to help harvest the crops, sun-dry them, and clear the roads.

Moreover, Li Yu set a rule.

Whenever someone is found hoarding or stealing crops during harvesting, they will be immediately removed from the Big Camphor Tree Base and driven out.

It can be expected that perhaps some people might not resist the urge to hoard food this time.

Then Li Yu can take this opportunity to filter these people again.

Li Yu always believed in one thing:

In this ever-changing Doomsday, the strongest team, the team that can make it to the end, is never the biggest in numbers or strongest in firepower.

It’s the one with the strongest cohesion, the most unity.

Human hearts in Doomsday are hard to fathom, so there is too much to be vigilant about, Li Yu doesn’t have time to judge people’s hearts over time.

He used the simplest and most straightforward method, using human lives to filter out like-minded people.

Some people were deeply hidden, so they could only use some special methods.

Just like this time, letting them harvest the crops.

Sure enough.

This time, Luo, Ju Tianrui, and others found more than fifty people who secretly hoarded food while harvesting in the greenhouse.

More than fifty people, men and women, after being caught, were lined up in two rows.

Not a single extra staff member was caught; all those caught were cooperative personnel.

They stood outside the First Outer City’s greenhouse, trembling with fear.

They were very afraid and didn’t know how Li Yu would deal with them.

Today, because the crops were to be harvested, Li Yu had already instructed Aunt Zhou and others to open up some staple foods for cooperative personnel and extra staff to eat.

Everyone had really eaten enough in the morning, they were really full!

But, unexpectedly, even when they were full, some dared to take more.

Li Yu was not too disappointed, nor did he feel that human nature was so disgraceful; it was just that in this situation, secretly hoarding food indicated that they were greedy.

And greedy people are the hardest to control.

Li Yu stepped forward in front of them, face indifferent, and slowly opened his mouth to speak:

”This morning, I specially emphasized not to hoard or steal, and let you all eat your fill, but is this how you repay me?

We have worked together in the past, no matter what, we have some rapport.

I won’t kill you; you can leave now! From now on, you are no longer part of the Big Camphor Tree Base, and the Big Camphor Tree Base will no longer cooperate with you.

Go!”

Li Yu said just two sentences, handing down a verdict to these people.

Upon hearing Li Yu’s order not to kill them, they were momentarily incredulous.

Even other cooperative personnel and extra staff widened their eyes, unable to believe the scene.

According to Li Yu’s previous practices, it would have been fifty heads rolling by now.

Such a humane approach felt somewhat unlike Director Li.

Of the more than fifty people, some wept with joy upon hearing they could survive.

Others, due to a moment of greed, regretted what they had done immensely.

”Director Li, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have taken it, can I have another chance? I will definitely behave honestly from now on.”

Perhaps because Li Yu did not kill them, an immense sense of guilt suddenly arose in their hearts, feeling that they were truly in the wrong.
