Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 991: Chapter 670: Melting Snow and Harvesting Crops

The weather is warming up, but the temperature is still below zero, and the snow will not melt.

The thick snow gradually solidifies, becoming harder.

Western Alliance.

Old Zhuang finally pulled through, but what he didn’t expect was that upon waking up, he saw the snow stop.

Immediately followed by the Zombie Tide, this Zombie Tide once again caused significant losses to the Western Alliance.

Many people were injured by the extreme cold during this period.

After enduring for over a month, as the temperature gradually rose, they finally caught a breath. However, due to the previous Zombie Tide, many people in the base died. They didn’t count carefully, but certainly, a thousand deaths occurred.

The total number of people in the Western Alliance at this time decreased rapidly. Li Yu’s earlier prediction was indeed verified. In the Doomsday, a large-scale base would gradually collapse unless it was absolutely strong!

This strength was not a one-dimensional concept. It referred not only to the strength in terms of military power but also the base’s protective power, food storage capacity, farming ability...

Not a single one could be lacking.

The Western Alliance’s population, originally in five figures, decreased drastically due to natural disasters, the Zombie Tide, the departure of several forces, and now the extreme cold of the blizzard.

Leaving the population of the Western Alliance reduced to only a few thousand people.

Gan Xiong’s eyebrows have been tightly furrowed lately, facing too many problems now.

However, many problems are simply unsolvable for them right now.

Such as the electricity issue, without sufficient power, they cannot ensure heating, lighting, and other criteria.

It can be said that electricity is the foundation of the Western Alliance.

Of course, apart from food.

Solar panels are limited, although they can produce some power, efficiency isn’t particularly high in heavy snow, and the electricity output is also not high.

There is no spare effort to search for trouble with the Yishi eastern suburb distillery. In such cold weather, they also cannot get out of the base.

....

The second heavy snowfall destroyed many bases worldwide.

But with the temperature rise, it also brought new hope to humanity.

......

Ten days later.

The temperature finally rose to zero.

This is a critical point, the melting point of ice and snow.

Thick snow covered the whole land, creating a pure white world, with cold air still lingering.

However, with the gradual warming, the icy world began to change quietly.

.......

Sunlight filtering through the clouds poured down, casting warm rays on the snow, shining like tens of thousands of silver lights.

Under the sun’s influence, the snow began to melt, forming crystal-clear water droplets one by one. They fell like countless jewels, scattered on the white snow, sparkling brightly.

As the temperature rose, the snow melted rapidly, gathering into small streams, quietly flowing.

The streams formed small ditches where the snow melted, flowing along the low-lying lands with a weak gurgling sound. The water droplets streamed down, as if singing the joy of the melting ice and snow.

The river currents formed small streams, continuing to flow towards wider river channels. Thick snow melted little by little, the river gradually swelling, with rippling waves bringing a breath of vitality. Ice blocks floated on the surface, spinning and colliding in the water, making a clear and crisp sound.

The snow on lakes also began to melt, with a thin layer of ice appearing on the lake surface. With the warmth of the sun, the ice layer rapidly dissolved, revealing the clarity of the lake water. Ice blocks on the lake surface kept breaking, emitting a pleasing cracking sound, water waves rippling like a splendid ink painting.

The entire melting process seemed like a symphony of nature, with water droplets leaping and flowing, water sounds and sunlight intertwining.

Everything seemed to announce the retreat of the cold.

In some rivers and lakes, those surfaces that were previously iced over now occasionally saw some zombies thawing, floating along with the current.

If there were no zombies, the world would still be very beautiful.

Unfortunately, this beautiful snow-melting scene was tainted by one zombie after another.

........

Big Camphor Tree Base.

The snow, several meters high, is reducing in height daily.

At a speed visible to the naked eye, trees are getting taller, and the ground lower.

This day, Li Yu called upon drainage engineer Xu Zhen, asking him to lead people to inspect and perfect the entire base’s drainage system.

In recent days, with the snow melting and turning into water, there has been some water accumulation in both the Inner and Outer City.

Especially on the hillside, where melting snow gathered into small streams, then converged into a relatively wide river, already completely exceeding the height of the ditch and overflowing.

Even Li Yu and the others wear water shoes to walk through the roads waddled with water.

The snow melted very quickly, and in just two days, half of it was gone, with the melting speed increasing with the temperature rise.

Xu Zhen, wearing water shoes, with a forehead full of sweat, arrived outside the greenhouse. At this time, Li Yu was also helping here. In recent days, because of the rapidly melting snow, the ground was flooded everywhere.

Originally, outside the greenhouse, after clearing the snow with snowplows and numerous cooperative personnel every day, there wasn’t much snow two meters away from the greenhouse.

However, beyond two meters, there was snow as thick as five or six meters.

The rapid melting of such snow will soon spread over to the greenhouse.

But the greenhouse was built strong enough initially, with good enclosure, so it wasn’t immediately submerged, with only two greenhouses having water seep in; the others were fine.
