Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 993: Chapter 671: Driving People Away, Li Yu’s Thoughts [Monthly Ticket Requested]

This winter has been exceptionally long, with blizzards and extremely cold weather lasting for several months.

Since last November until now in February, extra staff and cooperative personnel have been living in the greenhouses of the First Outer City.

They have no way to go out to look for resources and equipment, nor can they exchange for Contribution Value.

They exhausted their previous stockpile by January.

The base does not support idle people, so many tasks that they can do within the base have been assigned to them.

During the blizzards, they made arrows, and other long-term handcrafts, cleared snow outside the greenhouses, and helped clear waterways during floods to protect the greenhouses from being submerged.

To ensure they have something to eat and survive, Li Yu had Second Uncle, Uncle, Second Uncle, He Bing, and others find various ways to assign tasks that required longer time to these people.

Additionally, for those who have not done enough, they have to borrow and pay it back through tasks once the weather stabilizes, just like before.

In fact, since initiating the cooperation model, the base has stocked various equipment from large boilers to small sewing machines and some basic industrial equipment, all backed up at the Big Camphor Tree Base.

In the Inner City, Li Yu even designated an area to store those equipment items.

It was built next to Second Uncle’s factory, completely packed.

It’s not useless, but rather some are simply not needed yet.

If only relying on people in and around the Big Camphor Tree Base to collect these things, it would take too much time.

The base needs people on duty, people to cultivate, and various miscellaneous tasks that all require manpower.

They can only dispatch a few people to gather resources.

But after enabling the cooperation model, they used the least amount of grain to exchange for the most equipment and resources.

This greatly saved the Big Camphor Tree Base’s effort and time.

Therefore, even while sheltering them for such a long time, Li Yu never considered driving them away but rather figured out ways to have them do some work and ensured they would not starve.

Without them, the base would not have so much seemingly useless equipment and machinery.

Because Li Yu knew that in days, floods would submerge many areas, more severe than the floods at the onset of the Doomsday.

By then, many pieces of equipment would be submerged, and what seemed useless before but was desperately needed later was overlooked in the beginning, corroded by water, becoming entirely useless later on, everyone realized their importance.

And Li Yu used the cooperation model to bring these things to the base in advance.

For instance: printers and modern printing machines.

In the Doomsday, no one would think of hoarding these, even when the Doomsday first broke out, Li Yu didn’t hoard them because he didn’t buy these with the money he had.

But after the Doomsday outbreak, with the collaboration mode in action, he started issuing many such tasks.

The cooperative personnel were happy to oblige; such things can’t be eaten, used as energy, nor as weapons to kill zombies, so they collected them and delivered them to the Big Camphor Tree Base without reservation.

However, Li Yu knew how important these things were.

Not to mention, in education, they would play a significant role in the future.

Some in the Inner City also raised the issue of extra staff and cooperative personnel, but Li Yu convinced them.

It wasn’t that he became more kind, but because he knew without these cooperative and extra staff, they couldn’t have gathered such a comprehensive collection of equipment and machinery.

Besides, just keeping them alive is not that demanding, not about feeding them well.

The amount of food for survival is only one-tenth of satiation.

Moreover, they have done some things during this period.

From a future perspective, these people will also become potential personnel of the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Their survival is more meaningful and far-reaching to the Big Camphor Tree Base than their demise.

.......

February 16.

Sunny.

Outdoor temperature: 6℃.

At the Big Camphor Tree Base, with the past few days’ sunshine, warming temperatures, and refined drainage systems, the ground inside the base is mostly dry.

The grain in the greenhouses greeted its first harvest!

The main crops are staples: rice, sweet potatoes, corn....

There are also some transplanted fruit trees, which have not fully matured yet.

Vegetables, on the other hand, have been harvested in recent months, then dried indoors and processed by Second Uncle and the others.

The rice quantity is the largest, including the harvest of 80 acres of greenhouse, 40 acres of underground plantation, and cave plantation.

The total planted area reached 120 acres.

The joy of harvesting food, which is the foundation for their future survival, always fills the heart with delight.

In Li Yu’s impression, it won’t be long before the rains combine with the melted snow from the previous months’ blizzards will form a torrent.

An incredibly terrifying torrent.

The base has harvesters, so Li Yu assigned He Chao, Ju Tianrui, Xiao Jun, and over a dozen others to oversee the Second Outer City’s harvesting and tasked all extra staff to help with the harvest.

Due to it being in the Second Outer City, Li Yu specifically instructed He Chao to keep an eye on the extra staff and prevent them from approaching the Residential Building.
