Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The three-layer mobile switch blade of the Big Camphor Tree Base is currently only opening the bottommost layer, roughly seven meters above the ground. At this moment, the switch blade on the wall is operating rapidly.

Li Yu looked at the first layer of the mobile switch blade on the wall and recalled that the three-layer switch blade had never been fully tested.

So, he went to the duty room and asked Li Hang to open all three layers of the mobile switch blade.

Recently, Li Hang returned to the duty team since there hasn’t been much breakthrough in the research factory with Zhou Ran, He Bing, and others. Thus, Li Hang came over to take on duty temporarily.

Upon hearing his brother’s words, Li Hang didn’t hesitate and even felt a bit excited as he ran to the switch blade control box installed on the wall.

Immediately, he turned on the activation button for the three-layer switch blade.

Then, he pulled the lever controlling the speed of the three-layer switch blade to the highest speed.

Clang clang clang—

A sound of metal clashing came from outside the duty room.

Li Hang quickly ran out and saw Li Yu looking down from the wall.

Curious, Li Hang went to the edge of the wall and looked down, only to see the three-layer switch blade moving at a very high speed. Under the three layers, they couldn’t see the ground beneath the wall at all.

The three-layer mobile switch blade, running at high speed, formed an impenetrable protective net. Even if zombies stacked up, they couldn’t climb into the wall.

Li Yu had a thought to test the switch blade since the zombie pile hadn’t yet reached seven meters high.

So he shaped a snowball from the top of the wall and threw it towards the moving switch blade below.

With a light sound, the snowball was immediately cut in half by the topmost switch blade and sent flying into the distance under the power of the blades.

Li Yu nodded in satisfaction and then shouted to Li Hang in the duty room, ”Alright, turn off the top two layers of the mobile switch blade.”

Li Hang immediately turned it off.

Thump, thump, thump—

From both sides of the wall, Second Uncle and others walked over. They had gone to clear the accumulated snow on the wall. Now that the snow had stopped, they cleaned the wall a bit.

”Xiao Yu, why did you open all the switch blades?” Second Uncle asked, a bit puzzled.

Li Yu watched as the speed of the top two layers of the switch blade slowed down, and explained to Second Uncle, ”Just testing to see the effect.”

Upon hearing this, Second Uncle nodded without saying anything further.

The base’s wall was long, and the zombies had only piled up to a height of less than four meters so far. Judging by the rate at which the zombies were stacking up, it was estimated that it would take half a day for them to reach a height of seven meters.

Staring at the zombies below for a long time would create a blurred feeling in Li Yu’s mind.

So he returned to the Inner City for some rest.

.....

The weather remained cold.

In this cold winter, snow hadn’t melted, and outside everything seemed eternally white.

Time flowed like a swift horse, slowly passing by.

During this time, no one left the Big Camphor Tree Base.

After the first layer of the mobile switch blade was activated, the zombies outside the wall didn’t pose much pressure; basically, people in the duty room would go up the wall to check the situation from time to time, spending most of their time in the warm duty room watching the monitor screens to observe the zombies below.

Inside the base, the crops in the greenhouse were growing well. The lush green color was particularly pleasing to people who had grown accustomed to the white outside.

So, people often came into the greenhouse to relax and help with pest removal and watering.

Li Hang’s wife, Ding Qingqing’s belly was getting bigger and bigger, now already five months along, and in a few months, she would be due for delivery.

Therefore, Li Hang and Mrs. Li, among others, took extra care of her.

The electricity supply within the base was very sufficient, sparing everyone from the plight of freezing.

However, the food available to many cooperative personnel and extra staff was decreasing, so after discussions among Li Yu, Second Uncle, and others, they decided to let them help in the greenhouse in exchange for basic survival rations.

In the residential building of the Second Outer City, five floors, four floors had already been filled with zombie generators that produced tens of thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity daily.

During the winter, with little chance to go out, people tried to stay indoors unless necessary for duty defense and other assigned tasks.

Before anyone knew it, half a month had passed.

Snow began to fall again, lasting for half a month.

This snowstorm increased the thickness of the snow again.

What was initially over three meters of snow has now formed into over six meters of snow.

Snowplows operated daily, but now standing in the base gave off a peculiar feeling.

On the uncleaned roads, the snow on either side reached several meters, with the snow forming small hills that surrounded the commonly used paths.

If not for the extra staff and cooperative personnel going out to clean daily, the entire greenhouse would likely have been buried by the snowstorm’s onslaught during the second snowfall.

Their main task every day during the second snowstorm was snow removal.

Watching the slowly hardening snowflakes, they felt a sense of absurdity.

The gate had been completely buried, and with the snow hardening, clearing it again was quite troublesome.

Besides, since there was no need to go out, they simply decided to deal with it.

Underneath the wall, the six-meter-high snow completely buried the first layer of the mobile switch blade by zombies.

Initially, when zombies approached, they were slaughtered, but as zombies knelt and gnawed, those behind climbed up, turning over inside. The sheer number of zombies caused the mobile switch blade to jam.
