Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 88: Chapter 88 Return to Oak Research Institute

Chapter 88 Return to Oak Research Institute

The next day, Ash and the others left Viridian City and returned to Pallet Town.

The group arrived at Professor Oak’s Laboratory in just two hours.

At this time, Professor Oak was preparing to cook instant noodles in a beaker.

”Grandpa!”

”Professor Oak!”

Gary and Ash’s voices rang out simultaneously from outside. Hearing their voices, Professor Oak immediately threw the instant noodles he had just put down into the trash can without thinking.

He then tidied his clothes, opened the window for ventilation, and finally slowly walked out of the laboratory, locking the door behind him.

Downstairs, Brock saw that no one appeared after they had called for a long time, and asked in Telekinesis, ”Is the Professor not here?”

”How can that be? Grandpa almost never leaves the Laboratory,” Gary said.

”In this situation, there’s no need to guess. Professor Oak must be eating instant noodles again,” Ash said helplessly.

”Eating instant noodles?”

Misty and Brock were confused. What was going on?

Professor Oak was a world-renowned Pokémon Professor. How could he be so down and out that he had to eat instant noodles?

”Cooking instant noodles with experimental equipment is one of Professor Oak’s great hobbies...”

Before Ash could finish speaking, Professor Oak walked down from upstairs and retorted, ”Hey, hey, Ash, don’t talk nonsense. I don’t have such a hobby.”

”Professor, shouldn’t you at least clean the oil stains off your clothes before you argue?” Ash said, feigning a jab.

Professor Oak believed him, lowered his head to check his white coat, and then realized he had been tricked.

”Ash, you’re still the same as before.”

”By the way, Ash, I heard you defeated the Viridian Gym?” Oak changed the subject.

”I just collected the gym badge. Giovanni didn’t even send out his own Pokémon. The one he sent out was ownerless at the time,” Ash said.

”Oh, I see. I thought your strength had already reached that level!”

Professor Oak knew that Giovanni had Champion-level strength, but he was completely unaware that Giovanni was the boss of Team Rockets. After all, Professor Oak was a researcher, and he had only heard of organizations like Team Rockets and hadn’t had much contact with them, except for those three guys.

”Grandpa, I also collected the Viridian gym badge, and I collected two more gym badges than Ash!” Gary opened his gym badge collection box and presented it to Professor Oak like a treasure.

”Ten gym badges? Not bad, not bad,” Professor Oak praised.

After speaking, he turned to Ash and said, ”By the way, Ash, your Pokémon is in the backyard. Go see it.”

”Okay, and Professor, there’s also this one. If you have time, please help me with a check-up.”

Ash slipped the Master Ball containing Mewtwo into Professor Oak’s hand.

Professor Oak looked at the Master Ball in his hand and thought to himself, ”This kid is really something.”

After Ash and the others walked towards the backyard, Gary curiously leaned in front of Professor Oak and asked, ”Grandpa, what kind of Pokémon did Ash give you?”

”I’ll only know after I’ve examined it. You should also go to the backyard to see the Pokémon you’ve collected,” Professor Oak dismissed him.

With that, he clutched the Master Ball and walked towards the laboratory.

”So mysterious. It doesn’t look like a good Pokémon,” Gary said with a hint of sourness.

He couldn’t tell whether he was Professor Oak’s grandson or Ash was Professor Oak’s grandson. There was no need for such differential treatment, right?

Professor Oak hurried to the laboratory. Midway, for safety’s sake, he turned back to his room and casually grabbed one of his own Pokémon.

As soon as he entered the laboratory, he impatiently opened the Master Ball.

As soon as Mewtwo appeared, it displayed strong hostility, directly unleashing its full Telekinesis power and trying to attack Professor Oak.

However, a tall figure appeared behind Mewtwo. The powerful Pressure made Mewtwo, who could only exert the battle power of a late Elite, feel a slight discomfort.

”A new Psychic-type Pokémon? Ash, this kid is really lucky. Hehehe, a new Pokémon, here I come!” Professor Oak revealed an enthusiastic ’evil’ smile.

Professor Oak’s smile made Mewtwo suddenly feel a bad premonition. It now very urgently wanted to return to that Poké Ball...

Professor Oak’s Laboratory’s backyard was very large.

After arriving in the backyard, Ash released all the Pokémon he had with him, and then he emitted his Aura, transmitting it to the Pokémon he had captured. After sensing Ash’s Aura, those Pokémon all ran over.

On this journey, Ash had captured many Pokémon, and their strength was almost all above Excellent-level. Excluding Ancient Dragonite, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo, the Pokémon on Ash’s hand that had reached Elite-level were Pikachu, Gardevoir, Steelix, and Charizard.

The rest were mostly between Gym-level and Quasi-Elite-level. Of course, there were also Abra and Togepi, which were temporarily considered Baby-level Pokémon.

Abra’s strength growth was a bit slow due to its species, as it needed to sleep eighteen hours a day, lacking time for training. Togepi had just hatched not long ago, and with Pikachu protecting it, Ash temporarily didn’t plan high-intensity training content.
