Chapter 65: Dratini in the Wild Area

After leaving Fuchsia Gym, Ash’s group continued their journey. When they passed through a wild Pokemon sanctuary, they met a Laramie tribe girl riding a Ponyta. Ash represented her in the Laramie tribe’s Pokemon race and won first place.

After setting off again, they arrived at the Safari Zone.

Looking at the entrance to the Safari Zone not far away, Ash and the others were very excited.

”The Safari Zone is just ahead. I heard there are many wild Pokémon inside!” Misty’s eyes were full of anticipation.

”Rock-type Pokémon, here I come!” Brock also let out an excited declaration.

”You two don’t need to be so excited, do you?”

Ash scratched his head, his face full of helplessness. If he remembered correctly, the manager of this Safari Zone seemed very difficult to communicate with.

”You’re too noisy!”

An angry voice confirmed Ash’s memory.

An old man with a head full of white hair appeared in front of the trio, holding two revolvers.

Seeing the old man holding a gun, Brock and Misty instantly cowered, raising their hands high and trembling.

”Excuse me, sir, my two friends are visiting the Safari Zone for the first time, so they’re a bit too excited,” Ash quickly stepped forward to appease the old man.

Hearing this, the old man’s attitude immediately softened. He said sternly, ”No loud noises are allowed in the Safari Zone. Since it’s your first time, I’ll forgive you this once. I am Kaiser, the person in charge of the Safari Zone. Come with me to register your information.”

”Kid, you should know the rules of the Safari Zone, right?” Kaiser suddenly asked Ash.

”I learned a little about it before. In the Safari Zone, you can only use the Poké Balls and fishing rods provided by the Safari Zone. You cannot violently capture Pokémon from the Safari Zone, and you cannot destroy the Safari Zone’s ecology,” Ash said.

”Hmm, good that you know,” Kaiser nodded with satisfaction.

After the trio completed their information registration, Kaiser took out a box and said, ”These are your Safari Zone Poké Balls and fishing rods. Remember to follow the rules!”

”We will.”

Ash reached out and took the items.

Misty didn’t pay attention to Kaiser. Her attention wasn’t on the front desk from the moment she entered. Instead, she ran to the rest area on the side. Suddenly, an old, yellowed photo caught her attention. ”Ash, Brock, come look! It’s a Dratini!”

”The person in the photo with it is Mr. Kaiser! He looks so young!”

Ash and Brock heard the sound and quickly walked over.

Brock glanced at the photo. ”It really is a Dratini!”

Kaiser, who heard the trio’s conversation, quickly walked over, took the photo hanging on the wall, and said coldly, ”There’s no Dratini here. You’re mistaken!”

Kaiser’s behavior, which was clearly a case of ’protesting too much,’ undoubtedly intensified Misty and Brock’s confusion.

Just as the two wanted to ask why, Ash gave them a look and said, ”Misty, Brock, this is the Safari Zone. If there were a Dratini here, someone would have caught it long ago. So, Mr. Kaiser must have seen a Dratini somewhere else. Let’s go.”

....

The trio, carrying the special equipment for the Safari Zone, stepped onto the land of the Safari Zone.

”Hey, Ash, do you know about Mr. Kaiser and the Dratini?” Brock asked.

”I heard Dr. Oak mention it. That was thirty years ago. That photo was indeed taken in this Safari Zone, and precisely because of that photo, a large number of people who wanted to catch Dratini came here.

Although these people didn’t catch Dratini, and some didn’t even see a Dratini, their arrival almost destroyed the Safari Zone. Mr. Kaiser must have witnessed human madness, which is why he became like that just now.”

Ash naturally blamed Oak.

He didn’t know if Ash attracted Tauros, or if the world line was truly shrinking. Ash then, in the Safari Zone, every time he threw a Poké Ball, a Tauros would rush out and willingly be caught.

In a short while, Ash had caught thirty Tauros. This time, it was a true clean sweep.

Seriously, he was going to cry!

Of course, these thirty Tauros were all quite good. Their potential was basically Gym-level, with three being Elite-level, and the leader of the Tauros even had Elite-level potential.

Pokémon: Tauros

Gender: Male

Level: Excellent Low

Ability: Intimidate

Potential: Elite

Skills: Tackle, Pursuit, Work Up, Payback, Scary Face, Zen Headbutt.....

The trio wandered around the Safari Zone and finally arrived at a valley.

Looking at the familiar Lake in the valley, Ash’s expression was a bit strange. Wasn’t this the Dragon Valley where Dragonair and Dratini were located in the original story?

He fully activated his Aura and quickly sensed two special Auras within the Lake.

Without Team Rocket Trio’s interference, he didn’t expect the three of them to still come to this place.

Misty looked at the clear water in the valley. ”The water quality here is so good! I have a feeling there must be a Water-type Pokémon suitable for me here!”

”Misty, don’t you think this place looks familiar?” Brock asked thoughtfully, stroking his chin.

”Familiar?” Misty was puzzled.

”Oh, Misty, do you still remember Mr. Kaiser’s photo?” Ash reminded her.

”The photo? Ash, do you mean there’s a Dratini here?!”

Misty also reacted.

”That’s right, there is indeed a Dratini here, and also a Dragonair.”

Actually, the name of this valley itself was problematic.

Dragon Valley.

Heh heh, isn’t this a classic case of ’protesting too much’!

”Ash, the Dragonair you’re talking about, couldn’t it be the one that took a photo with Mr. Kaiser decades ago?” Brock guessed.

The growth period of Dragon-type Pokémon is inherently slow. Being able to evolve from a Dratini to a Dragonair in thirty years is already considered to have good potential among wild Dragon-types.

”Probably. Anyway, I only sensed Dragonair and Dratini. Look!” Ash pointed to the Lake not far away.

A Dratini was curiously staring at them.

”Pika?”

Pikachu jumped onto a stone pillar next to the Dratini, greeting it enthusiastically.

”Mi~”

The Dratini was not shy.

”So cute!” Misty was instantly captivated by the Dratini’s cuteness.

”Indeed cute.”

Ash also nodded.

Dratini and Dragonair are very cute, Dragonite, wouldn’t you say?
