Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

The purple light seemed to be nothing but mere light, but as it swept across everyone present, they felt an imposing, majestic aura washing over them. In the face of this presence, nothing could resist. It felt as though it could dominate all living beings.

”What... is that?” Jiang Ningxian froze, unable to comprehend what was happening. But she noticed that Lu Yuan’s energy was growing stronger, and the flame of his life, which had been smothered and teetering on the brink of extinguishing, was now blazing like a roaring inferno.

”What’s going on?” Yinglong was stunned as well.

Lu Yuan’s eyes snapped open, and a brilliant light burst out of his eye sockets. At the same time, the unbearable discomfort all over him vanished entirely. Then immediately afterward, a boundless tide of golden vital qi surged from him, moving like molten lava.

Terrifyingly enough, the golden vital qi now carried traces of purple light within it. As the purple light spread outward, Lu Yuan felt like he had become the master of everything the purple light had touched.

Is this... the power of the Celestial Emperor’s Ancient Token? It actually obliterated that drop of black blood. Lu Yuan examined himself closely and discovered that the drop of black blood inside him was gone. He couldn’t sense even a trace of it.

His power was no longer being restrained, and he had returned to his peak condition. The power within the Celestial Emperor’s Ancient Token seemed to be the perfect counter to the power inside that drop of black blood.

”No. Impossible. How did you destroy that power?” the black dragon muttered in disbelief.

Then it roared and charged forward once more. It understood what this meant. If Lu Yuan was no longer being restrained, then it stood no chance against him. In other words, what would follow was its death. It refused to accept dying at Lu Yuan’s hands, so it decided to make a move first.

It believed that this was its last chance to harm Lu Yuan, after all, the latter’s flabbers were still gasted, and he had yet to come back to his senses.

Unfortunately, the black dragon couldn’t do it. Without the black blood’s influence, Lu Yuan was at his peak again. Against a weakened black dragon, Lu Yuan was just far too strong.

He took a single step forward and threw a simple punch.

Rumble!

A powerful shockwave erupted, and the black dragon’s massive frame cracked open. Blood dripped down the wounds, but strangely enough, the blood was red rather than black.

Clearly, the black blood from earlier did not belong to the black dragon.

Lu Yuan paid this no mind. He already understood what was going on. He opened his palm, and ancient temples rose from the ground one after another along with many different Buddhas. They sealed off the entire region, ensuring that the black dragon would not be able to escape its fate.

”This is just...” Jiang Ningxian and Yinglong stared at each other in disbelief.

Just moments ago, Lu Yuan had been at an absolute disadvantage, and he even teetered precariously on the edge of death, but in the blink of an eye, a reversal happened; the tides turned, and now, it was in Lu Yuan’s favor.

Jiang Ningxian found herself dumbfounded. What was that purple light? Was it a hidden trump card? Why had she never seen it before?

For now, Jiang Ningxian decided to set aside the curiosity. What mattered the most was that Lu Yuan was alive. The weight pressing down on her heart was finally lifted, and she turned her attention back to the battlefield.

Since Lu Yuan hadn’t killed the black dragon outright, he definitely had questions to ask, and it was definitely about that drop of black blood.

Jiang Ningxian had a rough theory about the black blood, but of course, a theory was just a theory.

Sure enough, Lu Yuan did not attack and just looked at the black dragon trapped within the Buddha’s Palm Domain.

”That drop of black blood you used just now. It didn’t come from this world, did it? You must’ve... made contact with those Extracosmic Heavenly Demons,” he said. He believed that the drop of black blood had come from an Extracosmic Heavenly Demon, or nothing else could explain why he was so helpless against it.

The black dragon was formidable at its peak, but after so many years, it no longer posed a real threat to Lu Yuan. That drop of black blood, however, was a different story.

Lu Yuan had made his deduction earlier, and the black dragon’s reply made him feel certain that he had reached the truth.

”You know about the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons?” The black dragon was stupefied. In its era, only a handful of supreme beings were even aware of the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons’ existence, yet some random Immortal actually knew that they existed out there.

”So I was right,” Lu Yuan said, ”The reason you changed and began consuming creatures of every race was that you encountered the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons and struck some kind of a deal with them. That drop of black blood must be the price they paid.”

During their earlier fight, he had noticed that when the black dragon forced out the black blood, its life force and power had plummeted sharply. Even its blood essence was consumed as well. It made Lu Yuan feel certain that the mere drop of black blood had to be extremely important for the black dragon.

The reason it had forced it out was to devour Lu Yuan. It simply hadn’t expected Lu Yuan to carry the Celestial Emperor’s Ancient Token, which was capable of neutralizing that bizarre power.

There was another thing as well. Lu Yuan had sensed that if he could find a way to refine the drop of black blood, he could gain a special power from it—a mysterious and formidable power. All these factors considered allowed Lu Yuan to reach a conclusion.

”You!” The black dragon exclaimed in disbelief. Even in its dragon form, one could still see how shocked it felt. Obviously, Lu Yuan had struck the nail on the head.

”I guess you betrayed this world in pursuit of power,” Lu Yuan said calmly. In his eyes, beings from the Outer Cosmos were still part of this world, even though they were also considered outsiders.

The Extracosmic Heavenly Demons, on the other hand, were the true enemy of this world. Otherwise, the Primordial Dragon and the others wouldn’t have treated them seriously.

The black dragon was a member of the dragon race, but it had chosen to accept the power of the Extracosmic Heavenly Demons. It was a plain and simple betrayal.

Lu Yuan also realized that it had only survived all the way to the present era thanks to those Extracosmic Heavenly Demons.

”Power is everything. There is no such thing as betrayal when it comes to the pursuit of power! As long as I’m strong enough, nothing but my word will matter,” the black dragon roared. It seemed Lu Yuan’s words had stung. Still, it believed that it hadn’t done anything wrong in its pursuit of more power.

”Is that so? I guess you’re planning on clinging to your delusional ideas,” Lu Yuan said, shaking his head with a faint smile. ”Blindly chasing power only makes you a slave to it. You’ll never reach the apex that way. And you are the living proof of that. How pitiful.”

Now that he had learned everything he needed to know, he had no desire to waste any more words. Lu Yuan took a deep breath and extended his palm.

The black dragon within the Buddha’s Palm Domain stared at Lu Yuan with a gaze full of despair. This time, it was truly going to die.
