System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

The fierce battle ended.

Both fell asleep.

...

The next day, early morning.

Dai Linfang was frantically banging on the door.

”Open the door, open the door, Lu Cheng, you open the door for me!”

”Explain to me clearly... I haven’t slept all night.”

”Open the door...”

Lu Cheng opened the door, looking at Dai Linfang with heavy bags under his eyes, wearing pajamas, he turned around: ”Didn’t I ask you to go to the train station to pick someone up? What are you doing here?”

”I’m here to clarify with you why a surgeon like you is stirring things up in the anesthesiology department?” Dai Linfang leaned against the door, as if he had run over.

He was still panting heavily.

”Why do you need to interfere so much? I told you to pick someone up, and if you’re not available, I’ll get my family to do it.” Lu Cheng didn’t explain.

Dai Linfang changed into slippers while hunched over, crawling a few steps before standing up: ”Are you going crazy?”

”You’re going to leave the anesthesiology department powerless just for your wife?” Dai Linfang certainly knew Lu Cheng’s reason.

Long ago, Lu Cheng had dissected Mu Nanshu’s condition and even created an animal model of the motor disorder.

Lu Cheng spent much of his free time conducting ”training” for this surgery in the animal laboratory!

This was the surgery Lu Cheng had studied the longest recently.

If Lu Cheng claims he can develop the Functional Rehabilitation Skill, Dai Linfang wouldn’t be surprised at all.

But if you’re going to perform hand surgery, just go ahead; why are you overturning the anesthesiology department’s table?

”We’re all doctors, what does anesthesiology or surgery matter?”

”Strictly speaking, I’m from a trauma surgery background, and now I’m an emergency doctor.”

”I even perform general surgery, where can you reason with that?”

After giving Dai Linfang a soul-searching question, Lu Cheng instructed: ”Pour yourself some water.”

”It’s only six-twenty in the morning, I don’t have the energy to entertain guests.”

”Also, nobody comes to visit at this hour like you do.”

Dai Linfang ignored this: ”I’m not thirsty, just tell me if the information you sent is true?”

”Yes!” Lu Cheng nodded affirmatively.

”Damn!” Dai Linfang paused.

He then turned around and walked out: ”You’re cheating.”

”You bastard, you’re definitely cheating.”

Lu Cheng chuckled: ”Then go report me for cheating.”

Dai Linfang roared in anger: ”You can’t let me imagine a balance to solve my inner imbalance, right?”

”Damn!~”

Dai Linfang, feeling broken, came and went away in frustration.

As he reached the door, Lu Cheng said: ”If you’re not available to pick someone up, send me a message in advance, don’t leave the professor without a ride.”

”Both Xiao Shu and I have arrangements.”

To properly implement the sensory-motor separation anesthesia, Lu Cheng invited four renowned professors.

One from Xiangya Hospital, one from Huazhong Union Hospital, one from Huaxi, and one from Kyoto Union Hospital.

”Understood, I won’t delay your important matters!” Dai Linfang agreed.

”...”

Afternoon, four forty-five.

Ji City, in the animal laboratory.

Mu Nanshu and Lu Cheng donning disposable surgical sterile gowns, were preparing for the anesthesia on the ”operating table.”

In fact, Mu Nanshu was just a simple assistant, responsible for passing instruments.

Lu Cheng stood at the main station, swiftly completing various precise operations.

Beside Lu Cheng, Dai Linfang was on standby with a computer.

”Dai Linfang, calculate for me... the rabbit’s weight is 6.4kg!” Lu Cheng only provided Dai Linfang with the weight data.

After entering the weight data, Dai Linfang said: ”The results are out, the recommended dosage for different areas are...”

The difficulty of sensory-motor separation anesthesia does not lie solely in the direction of precise anesthesia, as the dosage, even the direction of administration, and the dose, can affect the final anesthetic effect.

If the direction of administration is wrong or the dosage exceeds the limit, it may lead to motor nerves being anesthetized, resulting in loss of motor function.

Lu Cheng administered the medication very precisely according to Dai Linfang’s dosage.

Although a quantitative injector could be used at this point, Lu Cheng opted to use his hands to push, to save time on the operation.

Moreover, this was not Lu Cheng’s first operation.

Therefore, the onlookers were no longer surprised!

But regardless of being used to it or not, the incredulity in the gazes of the four professors, witnessing the fifth operation, had not diminished at all.

Because precision in direction and administration is overwhelmingly cumbersome.

After completing all operations, Lu Cheng untied the rabbit. It immediately began to struggle and wave its limbs.

This was evidently not the state of motor function being anesthetized.

After the rabbit recovered its posture, standing alertly on its limbs, Lu Cheng approached and pricked the rabbit’s anesthetized paw with a needle; it remained motionless, seemingly oblivious.

But after changing position, the rabbit reacted to pain and dashed away suddenly!

Seeing this scene, Lu Cheng smiled knowingly.

He then grabbed the rabbit and turned: ”Dai Linfang, Professor Wang, would you kindly assist us in manually binding the rabbit as per the previous steps!”

The so-called manual binding involves physically restraining the rabbit by a few people, then subjecting it to pain stimuli to evaluate and measure its limb mobility and strength.

Such measurement results can determine the retention rate of motor function.

Not requiring 100% retention, having 80% of the opposite limb is a miracle!

Previously, the rabbits had all exceeded 80%.

Professor Wang and Dai Linfang skillfully grabbed the rabbit onto the operating table, holding it down like seasoned butchers.

Lu Cheng pricked the rabbit’s bottom again.

The rabbit’s limbs began to struggle, eyes red with fear!

It leaped vigorously, its paw held by Dai Linfang and Professor Wang lightly trembled as well.

Ultimately, it wasn’t human; its strength was limited, and it couldn’t escape.

”Professor Qin, pass the dynamometer!” Lu Cheng called to Professor Qin from Huazhong Union Hospital.

Professor Qin was already prepared.

After placing the dynamometer on the rabbit’s front limb, Lu Cheng measured again.

The maximum results of elasticity measurement on both sides appeared instantaneously!

”415.6N, 392.3N!”

The limb strength on both sides showed little difference, much exceeding 80%.

After finishing, Lu Cheng released the pressure, saying: ”It can only be this much, the rabbit is not a primate, precise actions cannot be reproduced.”

”Our research group’s capacity is too small, and we can’t find primate test animals.”

”Fortunately, this localized puncture anesthesia is harmless, so there’s no next step.”

Qin Kong raised his thick eyebrows: ”Director Lu? What do you mean by it can only be this much?”

”Do you think I can’t defeat you alone?”

”But we have four people here!”

Doctors from the anesthesiology department naturally wouldn’t engage in a fight with surgeons lightly.

However, facing four-on-one, Qin Kong had absolute confidence in victory.

At most, one or two might get injured.

Qin Kong, a professor from Union Hospital, was in the same unit as Lu Cheng, so he dared to speak up.

The others, including Professor Wang whom Lu Cheng had called earlier, remained silent, as if their tongues had been cut, consumed by shock.

Even with Qin Kong’s light-hearted remarks, they showed no indication of responding.

Doubting life, how could I possibly care if the two of you were fighting or not?

Why is it this way?

Why can anesthesia be done like this?

Who exactly is the anesthesiologist?

Why is Lu Cheng a surgeon?

”Professor Qin, no problem, let’s grab some food first.”

”After a few additional data sets in the coming days, I’m bringing this operation to clinical practice.” Lu Cheng said.

Professor Qin questioned: ”You’re not planning to conduct additional clinical trials?”

Lu Cheng shook his head: ”Not yet...”

”My wife will be my first clinical trial data.”

”Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

”And... I’m not intending to treat it as a clinical trial.”

Qin Kong raised his eyebrows again, loudly: ”Why not conduct clinical trials? Why aren’t you treating it as a clinical trial?”

”Why?”

”Lu Cheng merely discovered this technique coincidentally; it doesn’t solely belong to you!”

”You must do it.” Qin Kong’s emotions were intense.

Dare you withdraw after this surgery?

Then I, Qin Kong, can also fight to the death for an injury on you!
