System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Mu Nanshu is writing diligently, until Lu Cheng finishes his call, and then gently lifts his head, furrowing his brow to carefully listen.

”Mm, thank you, Professor Zhong, very well, thank you, I appreciate it.”

Lu Cheng’s conversation with Professor Zhong Junyun was rather brief and quickly concluded.

”Did Professor Zhong call about the hand surgery exchange?” Mu Nanshu set down his pen, relaxing his wrist.

”Yes...”

Lu Cheng stood up, picked up a cup: ”Professor Zhong just called me to say the hospital administration is very pleased with the outcome and wants to note it.”

”When I enter the job next time, they’ll be sure to evaluate me as outstanding immediately.”

In conversation, Lu Cheng went to get some water.

Mu Nanshu asked Lu Cheng to help bring a cup: ”Many Hua Country people don’t necessarily align on several points, but on this issue, it seems surprisingly unanimous.”

”This could be seen as receiving some form of benefit.”

Lu Cheng shook his head: ”Such benefits, if I could turn back time, I’d rather not have.”

”Let’s not talk about this, Professor Zhong just called and asked me to prepare my research-related materials.”

”I said there aren’t many materials, and he said gather as much as possible.”

Upon hearing this, Mu Nanshu stood up: ”Director Zhong asked you to organize research materials, how could you say you don’t have much?”

”It’s quite evident they’re intending to give you something, isn’t it?”

Lu Cheng replied: ”I understand the implication, if Professor Zhong dares to offer it, would I dare accept?”

”If they assign me a master’s research mentor or something, I’d be awfully nervous.”

”It’s not feasible, I’m not mentally prepared yet.”

Mu Nanshu had already educated Lu Cheng on—

The eligibility evaluation for a graduate mentor primarily looks at whether you have topics and publications.

It doesn’t really focus on your teaching capability.

Having a topic and producing papers represents the ability to ensure your master’s students have funding for experiments, allowing them to graduate.

Graduation is the most significant matter for a graduate student.

”That’s true.” Mu Nanshu nodded slowly, rarely contradicting Lu Cheng’s humility.

Lu Cheng hadn’t attended graduate school, how could he know how to supervise students?

”Let’s go... and check our recent publications, which should be quite numerous.”

”There have been several published already...”

Mu Nanshu returned to Xiangzhou from Han City with Lu Cheng around October of last year, and it’s only been half a year now with several papers published.

This speed is exceptionally remarkable.

Thesis-type papers are not simply measured by quantity.

High-quality papers can outweigh a plethora of data-driven studies.

Lu Cheng followed Mu Nanshu to the study in front of the computer, and after Mu Nanshu opened his laptop.

Lu Cheng did not witness the chaotic scene often described online about girls’ computers.

Mu Nanshu’s desktop was notably clean, with only three folders.

[Data], [Charts], [Drafts & Miscellaneous]!

After opening Drafts & Miscellaneous, Mu Nanshu clicked multiple sub-categories before finding the statistics table for paper titles, submissions, and publication dates.

This Excel table also included the order of paper authors.

”For all these papers, you’re the corresponding author, and no one in the research group has any objections.” Mu Nanshu suddenly turned to Lu Cheng to say.

Lu Cheng looked at least seven or eight papers from top to bottom, his eyes instinctively widened.

”What are you saying?”

”Where did all these papers come from?” Lu Cheng flipped up and down in confusion.

”Papers are divided into main research results and enjoyable research results.”

”Other papers, it’s just Xie Yuan’an and me testing the waters, primarily data analysis type articles.” Mu Nanshu explained in detail.

Lu Cheng thoughtfully considered for a while before saying: ”Our group is still missing a specialized talent in data analysis.”

”Dai Linfang is decent, but after all, he is not specialized in statistics.”

”Firstly, he lacks the specialization, and secondly, he doesn’t have as much time.”

”Our research group currently cannot support such talent, so we just have to manage...”

As Lu Cheng spoke, his emotions became somewhat muddled: ”Unexpectedly, I, Lu Cheng, would have a day where my name is listed as corresponding author.”

”Even in my dreams, I wouldn’t dare be so bold.”

One doesn’t need a master’s degree to operate.

But without a master’s degree, it’s essentially impossible to become a mentor!

Academic papers are barely related to you!

Papers occupy scores in the title evaluation materials, though they aren’t high-rating!

However, in top teaching hospitals, whether you qualify for title assessment stresses academic papers’ quantity and quality.

It’s a set rule, even when discussing changes, it hasn’t affected this fundamental rule.

”In essence, whether they are thesis-type papers or data analysis-type papers, they are still data analysis.”

”It’s merely that data sources differ.”

”Original data in theses reflects research effort and research costs.”

”Statistical data usage indicates secondary application of others’ research results, requiring relatively less effort.”

Mu Nanshu placed the computer in front of Lu Cheng: ”You don’t need to worry about these data analysis-type papers because they’re not particularly important; all you need is to know the titles and general conclusions.”

”Due to being secondary applications of other authors’ paper data, no one will query you about specific details.”

”Others won’t inquire about original data in your thesis-type articles either...”

”If you indeed encounter someone inexperienced, simply say you provided the original concept.” Mu Nanshu had already found excuses for Lu Cheng.
