System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Clinical permissions and objective constraints are all just fleeting clouds.

Don’t mention guidelines — they’re revised by people like us.

”Yes, we were all once young, so of course, we understand your position, Xiao Lu.”

”However, I am considered familiar with you, Xiao Lu, so I come as a representative to meet you.”

”The greater the ability, the greater the responsibility...”

”It’s not so much a mandatory task, but rather, you should use your capabilities, especially when you’re relatively comfortable, to do more for medicine and for patients.”

”This is within your range of ability.”

”We’ll be sending a letter to the Health and Wellness Committee of your current province, intending to propose a promotion to your current job title soon. What do you think?” Professor Lu Mang suddenly said.

Lu Cheng was completely bewildered: ”Huh?”

”The greater the ability, the greater the responsibility, and correspondingly, the greater the permissions.”

”With your current title, it will restrict the exercise of your abilities, which isn’t acceptable and doesn’t help you focus calmly on your work.”

”Moreover, we fully trust that you have an absolute sense of boundaries with your current ability, at least adhering to the principle of no harm.”

”Based on this, giving you more permissions will also facilitate your clinical and research work, and avoid being dragged down by miscellaneous matters.”

”We’ll send it over soon; this kind of response should be quick,” Professor Lu Mang said.

Lu Cheng asked, ”Teacher Lu, may I ask, who are you?”

Professor Lu Mang said: ”The Hua Country Academy of Medical Sciences.”

”Xiang Province is considered a major province in medicine and has a good relationship with our Academy of Medical Sciences, with many intersections.”

Lu Cheng clicked his tongue.

Saying that makes it seem like if other provinces receive your letters, they just ignore them.

Xiang Province may not be a major province in mathematics, but didn’t the incident involving Professor Liu from Zhongnan University quickly ferment over a decade ago?

”By the way, Xiao Lu, let me ask you something...”

”I heard from Professor Zhong Junyun that your master’s to doctoral degree was combined, and only after delaying your graduation did you start working?”

”What was the reason for that?” Professor Lu Mang suddenly asked again.

Lu Cheng’s whole body stiffened: ”????”

Master-to-doctoral combined degree?

Delayed graduation?

What is this?

Lu Cheng’s saliva was rapidly secreting.

He had heard this before: when you’re strong enough, everyone you encounter is a good person, and everyone around you is a kind and noble person.

When you want to do something, someone wrote the ”program” for you years ago, adding an ’column’ or ’name’ to past announcements silently...

Even the higher-level regulatory departments would overlook these things.

Of course, the premise is that you have to be strong enough.

Lu Cheng didn’t respond.

Professor Lu Mang said: ”Perhaps you’re too busy, or maybe the current master’s and doctoral graduation system is too stringent.”

”I’ve already contacted Han City University...”

”You’ve developed the Liver Preservation Surgery technique, how can you be constrained by the doctoral dissertation requirements?”

”Prepare to graduate early and get your certificate.”

Lu Cheng lowered his voice at this moment: ”Teacher Lu, I’ve completed my regular training...”

”Training is training, and studying is studying.”

”That’s it then...” Professor Lu Mang hung up the phone directly.

There appeared to be a bug with Lu Cheng.

Or rather, the current situation of Lu Cheng is inherently a bug intolerable to society.

Yet, this bug has to be fixed.

Traces left by flying geese.

Lu Cheng had taken part in the master’s examination but wasn’t accepted at the time.

So? He just wasn’t accepted at the time...

Sometimes the world can be so strictly regimented.

Sometimes, it can loosen to a degree beyond belief.

Lu Cheng returned to the private room step by step, with some amusing thoughts in his mind. Yet he didn’t pay much attention.

When Lu Cheng entered again, the atmosphere wasn’t as cold anymore.

Chen Song initiated: ”Xiao Lu, where did you go? Gone for so long?”

”Professor Lu from Kyoto called and mentioned he’ll be coming in a couple of days,” Lu Cheng replied.

Since Professor Lu Mang isn’t an emergency medicine person, Chen Song didn’t take it seriously.

Xue Yunfei listened, but he furrowed his brows, swallowing dryly: ”Professor Lu from Kyoto? Is it Professor Lu Mang?”

Xue Yunfei specializes in hepatobiliary surgery and shares the same field as Professor Lu Mang.

In every field, there are a few towering figures.

Outside the field, they may be unknown.

But within the field, these towering figures are revered and admired.

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Professor Xue also knows Professor Lu? Then let’s have dinner and host him together.”

”He’s going to land at Zhang City, and I need to arrange someone to pick him up.”

Xue Yunfei wasn’t as nonchalant as Lu Cheng; he raised his eyebrows and tightened his voice: ”Is Professor Lu coming to Ji City to see you?”

Lu Cheng nodded: ”I suppose so, or maybe he’s just coming for a tour, and chooses to take a look while he’s here.”

”If Professor Xue finds it inconvenient, that’s okay too.”

Xue Yunfei fell silent.

Chen Song likely sensed that this Professor Lu was no ordinary person.

In the private room, besides Xue Yunfei, Dai Linfang was also a proper hepatobiliary surgery specialist.

Dai Linfang touched his forehead: ”You never told me you knew Professor Lu?”

”Oh, wait!”

”You went to Kyoto that time to see Professor Lu?”

Professor Lu Mang carries weight in hepatobiliary surgery, not necessarily suppressing the entire Xiangya Hospital, but definitely a distinguished guest...

”I went to learn some things from Professor Lu,” Lu Cheng nodded truthfully.

”Actually, my Liver Preservation Surgery was also connected by Professor Lu.”

”That’s not the focus; today’s main task is ensuring Professor Chen, Professor Xue, and Brother Zhang enjoy themselves.”

”Dai Linfang, let’s not let the atmosphere go cold; I’ll take the lead in toasting Professor Xue and Professor Chen.”

”Brother Zhang, no rush; our two brothers will drink later...” Lu Cheng quickly reassured as he saw Zhang Boyuan getting up.

Zhang Boyuan smiled shyly: ”Director Lu, dropping the joke about me and Senior Brother Zhang is fine.”

Lu Cheng: ”I said it’s fine, so it’s fine... Why are we worrying about this today... Let’s enjoy ourselves while we have time; we can get mildly drunk.”

”Professor Xue, I’ll finish my drink...” Lu Cheng’s mood was actually quite good.

In previous years, didn’t he really want to improve his education level?

Not at all!

...

After eating and drinking, Lu Cheng didn’t get drunk, nor did anyone else.

As the meal was coming to an end, Xue Yunfei showed quite a bit of respect to Lu Cheng: ”Director Lu, I couldn’t control my emotions earlier; I hope you don’t mind.”

”Professor Xue, I understand; time reveals true character.”

”At first meeting, it’s only a passing glance; I believe anyone willing to come to Ji City is a person of conviction.”

”On behalf of everyone in Xiangzhou, thank you, Professor Xue, for coming,” Lu Cheng responded quite formally.

Xue Yunfei knew it was difficult to connect deeply with Lu Cheng today, but Lu Cheng didn’t get mad, which was a good thing: ”Director Lu, you flatter me...”

Of course, at this moment, Xue Yunfei better understood the meaning of ”National Master.”

The level of a National Master was perfectly embodied in Lu Cheng’s presence.

Don’t mention age, don’t mention experience.

This level is just awesome...

Truly capable of what others cannot!

Lu Cheng called for a designated driver for the ride home.

Mu Nanshu originally said they would come to pick up Lu Cheng, but Lu Cheng declined, not knowing when the meal would end.

Moreover, after the meal, he had to send Chen Song and others home first.

When Lu Cheng got home, it wasn’t too late — just before nine o’clock.

Just after stepping into his home, his phone rang.

Caller ID: Cao Qiheng.

Lu Cheng’s other convenient senior brother. Brother Zhang Boyuan’s junior; currently an employee of the hand surgery department at Huashan Hospital.

Lu Cheng answered openly, looking at the approaching Mu Nanshu, with a smile: ”Hello, Brother Cao...”
