Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Flipping through the scratched pages, the past events were summarized in words, unfolding before Yang Yu and the others.

Neither too long nor too short.

As Fengte feared, beneath the seemingly peaceful Human facade, undercurrents surged.

Before the Main War Faction could attempt a second Attack on the goddess, the fragile peace was shattered, as the Goddess Sect, united with other forces, made a comeback.

The timing of their actions coincided with the completion of ”Sea Mother,” just as the Main War Faction was grandly celebrating their triumph.

To monitor the goddess submerged at Nemo Point, a plan to cultivate Special Sea-dwelling Sub-humans was put on the agenda.

Originally, this was not a problem, as after a decade of recovery and technological accumulation, the Main War Faction had enough capital to completely seal the goddess away.

However, during a routine patrol, a Patrol Officer discovered winged Human Form creatures loitering around the islands near Nemo Point.

The Main War Faction organized several investigations, but nothing was uncovered.

The leaders of the Main War Faction believed, without a doubt, that this signaled the recovery of the goddess’s Strength and the Angels’ comeback.

To prevent the Angels from succeeding, the Main War Faction created the ”Sea Mother.”

—A massive deep-sea city capable of independently nurturing Sea-dwelling Species.

The seabed was engulfed in Darkness, only Magic Power could sustain life there.

To prevent a Magic Power shortage, the Main War Faction constructed some devices to regularly transport Magic Power from land to a certain part of the sea, supplying the ”Sea Mother.”

The downside was, if those devices were used at high power, the surrounding land would lose Magic Power and gradually desertify.

After Sea Mother submerged into the sea, the Main War Faction sealed the devices that could summon the ”Sea Mother,” entrusting the key to the Nine-Life Cat Demon.

They designed a series of complex rules, preventing individuals from easily obtaining that device.

The sky became their treasure map.

To comprehend the treasure map in the sky, a bit of Special technology was best needed.

The Main War Faction took a liking to a technology called ”Star Eye.”

This technology was originally developed to regularly repair the Barrier sealing off the entire planet, now it’s perfectly suitable for this kind of insurance.

Nobody expected that all the bustling activities of the Main War Faction were all a part of the Goddess Sect’s trap.

The creatures appearing near Nemo Point were not Angels at all but Sub-humans manufactured by the Goddess Sect.

Their reason for doing this was to steer the Main War Faction into funneling resources into the ”Sea Mother” plan, buying enough time for them to catch up to the Main War Faction’s technological barriers.

Due to the ”Sea Mother” plan, multiple solutions to deal with the goddess were forced to a standstill.

Some of the United Faction members took the opportunity to masquerade as altruistic merchants, offering olive branches to the researchers, and, in backdoor deals, several guilds were willing to invest a significant amount of money to support the researchers in completing their remaining studies, using it as a means to market their brand and expand their influence.

Such matters would’ve been absolutely unacceptable before.

But in the new era, more and more people hoped to live in the moment, and more and more unappreciated individuals hoped to produce results and contribute something to Humanity, at least to live a more prosperous life than others.

Thus, many people did not refuse the olive branches handed to them.

Grude, who had retired and originally intended to gracefully abandon his research, also accepted the olive branch under the persuasion of countless disciples.

The goal of Grude was to create a giant dragon capable of overruling everything, so that a giant dragon equivalent to a God would eliminate the goddess.

Grude did not want to give up halfway either.

Many people, after the outbreak of war, only belatedly realized they had been deceived, and their research results were used by those with ulterior motives in ways they had never imagined.

To Grude’s surprise, it was the people of Conservative Lucaism who extended the olive branch to them.

Grude found it hard to believe that the Conservative Lucaism people, who strongly opposed genetic modification and hoped to live purely as Humans, actually accepted researchers to modify their fellow kin.

”This is also an unavoidable matter.” When the war broke out, the people of Conservative Lucaism revealed their true intentions, ”With the Main War Faction’s rapid technological advancements, we cannot fall behind.

Countless histories have taught us that without formidable Strength, no matter how right you speak, they will only treat your words like air.

In your words, only those who hold great Strength can prove the Truth they grasp.

In our eyes, Truth is Truth, it does not change because of anything.

The ones in the wrong are those who distort the Truth by wielding Strength and take pride in it.

To correct this part of the population, one must possess commensurate Strength.

When others are using guns and cannons, if you still think that the sword is the master of all weapons and persist in using a sword, you’ll only be shot full of holes.

Although you call us Conservative, we are not at all stubborn.

We also have our Persistence.”

After that, the people of Conservative Lucaism demanded that Grude and their initial research results be embedded with plan-specific Gene decay, to ensure that these modified warriors could die at the average Human age, with the final dignity of Humans.

At that time, the average age of Humans happened to be one hundred and fifty, and the Silver Wolf was also set to begin its Collapse at one hundred and fifty.

Subsequent numerous outcomes of the Grude Plan were also embedded with plan-specific Gene decay. After reaching a certain age, their soldiers would rapidly age, suffer from various complications, urging them to die quickly.

Death is a part of life, such was the belief of Conservative Lucaism.

They should have been at odds with the Immortality-seeking believers of the Goddess Sect, but for a common goal, they put aside their prejudices and united against the Main War Faction.

After correcting the thoughts of this population, the people of Conservative Lucaism would then correct the thoughts of the Goddess Sect, steering everything toward their envisioned future.

For this reason, the people of Conservative Lucaism nearly poured out their entire family fortune.

With effort comes reward, and these soldiers, capable of interchanging between Beast Form and Subhuman Form, brought them countless victories, also granting Conservative Lucaism immense voice within the United Faction.

The Main War Faction was equally quick to respond, not demoralized by a few losses, nor did they fall into depression.

They quickly organized an army, bringing various research results onto the stage.

Unbeknownst to them, the United Faction had conducted countless investigations and put in much effort for this very day.

Having placed their whole focus on dealing with the goddess, the Main War Faction suffered a devastating defeat under the hands of the United Faction, who knew themselves and their enemy.

What is terrifying is not an overwhelmingly strong enemy, but an enemy with a clear mind.

An enemy that knows exactly what to do to secure a victory; an enemy that knows exactly what to do to preserve their gains; an enemy that knows exactly what to do to relentlessly achieve the outcome they desire.

To deal with such a clear-minded enemy, one must possess a mind even clearer than theirs, devoid of flaws.

This requirement was beyond the reach of the Main War Faction at the time.

Darkness is coming.
