Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

At the conference, one new plan after another was brought up for discussion.

Some believed that to defeat the goddess, the study of demon power was essential. We couldn’t abandon such research just because of potential dangers. If our predecessors had been as timid as we are now, science would never have progressed to this stage;

Some argued that the development of solid magic was going smoothly and should further be harnessed to create weapons, using highly efficient arms to defeat the goddess;

Others thought magic power was a formidable weapon against the goddess. Perhaps if someone could harness all the magic, they might be able to defeat her...

With the proposals from the Refugee Planet included, nearly a hundred schemes were presented.

After filtering, just over ten remained.

These proposals would compete against each other, progressively verifying their feasibility.

Fengte urged multiple times during the conference, yet to no avail.

Thus, he started to persuade people privately.

Grude from the Magic Creatures Department told him this:

”They aren’t unaware that society hasn’t fully stabilized yet.

The issue is, after a series of events, doing as you suggested might yield little results.

How many years do you think it’ll take to completely regain the public’s trust?

The Refugee Planet doesn’t have issues, but here we’ve been through devastation.

It appears peaceful on the surface, yet underneath, it might be just like the past, with undercurrents surging.

What you said, we will do.

It’s just that, don’t hold too much hope.

Frankly speaking, today’s society is not the past society.

The current ruling class is not the past ruling class.

Once people’s hearts scatter, it’s hard to bring them back together.

When people start to detest something, it becomes especially glaring in their eyes, they can find flaws within flaws.

Such history has occurred countless times in the past, how could we not know?

The things we do next are estimated to become the flaws in the eyes of some.

This proportion isn’t small.

When we do well, they feel it’s expected, but at the slightest mistake...

No... even without mistakes, they’ll surely think it’s still not good enough.

Thus, we have no choice but to continue fighting.

If we can prove that everything we’ve done so far was not in vain, but correct.

We merely treaded through more thorns than imagined.

Our civilization, Luka’s civilization, will not only endure but become more tightly united, stepping onto the next rung.

And we, especially this era, will be remembered by the people.”

”What if we fail?” Fengte blurted out.

”Then it would prove we were wrong.

We aren’t suited for this era, we’ve been eliminated.

This is all Luka’s will.

Survival of the fittest.

To climb higher and stronger, one must inevitably go through trials.”

Grude finished his conversation with Fengte and walked forward with resolve.

Fengte had also attempted to persuade others, yet everyone had their own thoughts.

Some things are hard to judge right or wrong before seeing concrete results.

The more unknown something is, the harder it is to judge.

Thus, humanity developed science, using outcomes to infer the causes of events, seeking their commonality, then invest time to verify.

The more one knows, the less one fears.

Fengte looked at the Luka pattern on his hand, recalling many, many things.

After that, Fengte neither continued to persuade others nor participated in various research or tasks, opting instead to return to Luka Teachings, treating himself as an ignorant youth, reinterpreting and understanding them.

He became a professor, imparting his understanding of the Luka Teachings.

This long spell of time passed, spanning over thirty years in a flash.

During this period, his diaries became much duller, without records of any technological progress, nor of political matters.

Most citizens living in this world likely were akin to Fengte during this period, oblivious to the undercurrents beneath the surface of peace.

The world seemed to return to the past.

Except, magic gradually became a part of people’s lives.

The goddess was not completely defeated yet, and one never knew when angels might arrive.

Actively cleansing the world of all magic would only provide others opportunities to exploit.

The higher-ups seemed to decide to keep magic until the day the goddess was thoroughly vanquished.

Perhaps they merely deemed that, at this point, using magic for world-building wasn’t bad either.

Due to years of neglecting politics, Fengte could no longer discern the higher-ups’ true intentions.

As he aged, Fengte, although looking like he was still in his forties or fifties, had already reached his twilight years.

Looking back on his life, he felt deeply emotional.

He didn’t know where this world would ultimately be led or what might happen in the future.

All Fengte could do now was to teach his students what he’d gained throughout his life.

Just as Fengte planned to pen down some of his insights, he was attacked at his home.

Long scratches crossed the pages.

The book had no records, narrating the story of what happened then.

”When did you Nine-Life Cat Demons start recording the whole world?

Is there any record of this part of history?” Yang Yu asked.

The All-knowing Queen shook her head, ”That time was flourishing.

With the advancement of technology, we Nine-Life Cat Demons were tasked with recording the world.

But that was just a small part.

There’s still a long way until humanity entrusted the recording of the entire world to us.

Though, the concept of the ’Anchor Point’ appeared back then.

We Nine-Life Cat Demons appeared in various cities, acting as the city’s magic signal towers, facilitating the operation of various magic.”

”Is that so... what a pity.” Yang Yu raised his hand helplessly, ”Fortunately, he didn’t die in the attack... Although I couldn’t understand, I roughly browsed through the diary.

This diary too, reached its final parts.

The following are large segments.

It’s no longer apparent as a diary, more like a memoir before death.

If certain events are mentioned, if you know the timing of the events, please do enlighten, my Queen.”

The All-knowing Queen did not refuse the request:

”Since you struggled to get here, and my predecessors gave directives, I shall try to satisfy all your requests as much as possible.

However...

If some of your requirements conflict with the predecessors’, I will prioritize responding to the predecessors’ requirements.”

”If I want you to definitely respond to my request, what should I do?” Yang Yu pursued.

”Then walk the path where stars converge, piecing together the fragments scattered in the sky, following hints to piece them, placing them in the correct positions, and the treasure box containing the treasures will manifest.

At that time, I will appear and bring you back to this world.

You pass the test, granting you the key to open the treasure box.

After making your choice, you’ll gain endless authority over this world.

Even if to entirely erase us, letting all related magic vanish, you can do so.”

The All-knowing Queen squinted her eyes, not waiting for Yang Yu’s response, then opened the remaining part of the diary, finishing the rest of the diary’s story.
