Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Icaro Flo drove the spiritual body, organizing expedition team members to concentrate firepower, aiming at the rushing demon beast spiritual bodies, launching attacks.

Yang Yu quickly swings the [Dark Breaking Blade], while subtly adjusting the troops to keep the whole team coordinated.

Due to the large size of the team and the lack of long-term coordination, the expedition team primarily relies on small-scale combat group coordination when dealing with the pouncing demon beast spiritual bodies.

During this period, incidents similar to those just witnessed with Sky Mage occurred, but after happening once or twice, everyone firmly believed that only coordinated cooperation would ensure survival; running chaotically would lead to death.

As time ticked by, the vast black mist showed no sign of diminishing, and the intensity of the demon beast spiritual bodies continued to increase as they pounced towards the expedition team.

Icaro Flo was surprised to find that the demon beast spiritual bodies they’d barely managed to defeat would transform into mist and rapidly get consumed by another demon beast spiritual body.

The demon beast spiritual body that consumes the mist inherits part of the abilities and battle experience of the dissolved spiritual body, which is why the demon beasts keep getting stronger.

Now the expedition team can still handle these demon beast spiritual bodies, but once they become powerful enough, the front will quickly collapse.

The mages in the sky are already overwhelmed, so they can’t be relied upon for support.

The ones to rely on are those here.

Seeing the coordinated collaboration with the priests, Icaro Flo quickly had an idea, using the spiritual body to convey his thoughts to different areas:

”Everyone, this method is superficial!

The spiritual bodies hiding in the black mist devour the ones we’ve defeated and gain a portion of their strength.

We need to trap those troublesome spiritual bodies and let the priests perform purification to completely eliminate them for even a glimmer of hope.”

Countless expedition team members frowned.

It’s easier said than done, but facing these demon beast spiritual bodies is already taking all their efforts. How can they control these demon beast spiritual bodies for the priests to perform purification?

The priests feel Icaro Flo is correct.

Light restrains darkness, and between healing and blessing their companions, the priests are also using their limited attack skills to supplement the damage.

However, the attack skills released by the priests are always evaded by the black mist in bizarre ways.

Even Iyas’s light arrows aren’t spared from being dodged.

The instant Iyas released the light arrow, the black mist seemed to have its own life and consciousness, opening a void in itself, sending Iyas’s light arrow forward, disappearing into nowhere.

Injecting a large amount of Holy Light into her light arrows, inducing explosions in the black mist, Iyas threw out [Holy Light Bombs], finally destroying the spiritual bodies in clusters.

She is the only one in the team capable of destroying spiritual bodies on a large scale.

The Holy Knights sent by the Goddess Sect include those who can use large-scale Holy Light attacks, but their skills are completely evaded by the black mist, making it difficult to inflict damage.

The reluctant Holy Knights can only release their skills around the team to buy a bit of precious time for a breather.

Another person who can effectively injure the spiritual bodies is Yang Yu.

Holding the [Dark Breaking Blade], Yang Yu dances within the black mist with extreme speed.

The [Dark Breaking Blade] in his hand can strike both the materialized spiritual bodies and those forming the black mist.

Even if Yang Yu does nothing but run a lap through the spiritual bodies holding the [Dark Breaking Blade], he can deal damage to several spiritual bodies.

Unfortunately, though he can damage the spiritual bodies, to completely eliminate them, they must be thoroughly shattered.

A spiritual body getting injured does not mean it’s finished; Yang Yu’s sword must deliver a definite final strike for them to disappear entirely from this world.

The spiritual bodies torn in half like pages by Yang Yu are merely broken; they continue to lose soul power until they perish, but these damaged spiritual bodies don’t immediately disappear and might even be repaired.

Someone is deliberately organizing wounded spiritual bodies to delve into the depths of the black mist, transforming into food for other spiritual bodies to exert their remaining energy.

As Icaro Flo perceives, the spiritual bodies that chew these damaged spiritual bodies become stronger and stronger.

His and others’ attacks rarely conclude the spiritual bodies’ demise; only the strategy Icaro Flo mentioned is the correct way to break the stalemate.

Yang Yu immediately ordered the entire team to follow Icaro Flo’s suggestion, capture the spiritual bodies, and deliver them for priest purification.

The temporary strategy change, coupled with no prior practice...

Truthfully, could anyone fully anticipate such a situation and provide training for the troops?

If Yang Yu could have gathered enough time and obtained information on the Curse Sect’s disciples, perhaps he could have foresaw it.

But life won’t always wait for you to be prepared.

While you’re preparing, opportunities may slip away.

Some things have to be learned and applied on the spot, even if they carry a price and have consequences.

Aside from moving forward, there’s no other way.

Numerous demon beast spiritual bodies saw Yang Yu and the others change strategies, seizing the opportunity to launch fierce attacks together.

Suddenly, named and unnamed, patched and unpatched, various demon beast spiritual bodies materialized and charged at the expedition team.

Lingshan summoned a massive pillar of water, Luo Luosi continuously created shells, members from the Goddess Sect wove defense shields...

All units strived to mitigate the impact of the strategy change, and Yang Yu temporarily targeted the mighty demon beast spiritual bodies with his long sword, figuring out ways to defeat them rapidly.

However, capturing demon beast spiritual bodies is more challenging than defeating them directly, requiring more manpower.

One gap after another appeared.

Demon beast spiritual bodies, as if true beasts, tore through the expedition team rampantly, in an instant, countless people fell victim to the sharp fangs and claws of these demon beast spiritual bodies, having their souls consumed.

But soon, the expedition team’s situation surprisingly stabilized.

One after another, demon beast spiritual bodies were controlled by the expedition team; these materialized spiritual bodies attempted to revert to their original spiritual form to escape control but were locked by the Spirit Manipulators’ [Soul Chains] with [Corpse Collection Coffin], ultimately purified by the priests.

Without powerful spiritual bodies returning to the black mist, the subsequent pouncing demon beast spiritual bodies dropped in strength.

The situation improved, yet Yang Yu didn’t feel much joy.

He knew the reason for the quick stabilization of the situation...

With many dead, defenses needed for the front line shortened, allowing Yang Yu to navigate various positions quicker, enabling others to better protect the remaining people, which is the real reason Yang Yu and his team could swiftly stabilize the situation.

Indeed, the current stability and reversal of the losing trend is all based on sacrifices.

Yang Yu understands it better than anyone, feeling more helpless than anyone.

Ultimately protecting everyone is just a fantasy; now, what Yang Yu can do is not let their deaths be wasted in vain.

Yet, the Curse Sect lurking underground will never allow Yang Yu and his team to waste spiritual bodies like this.
