Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The sound of pain involuntarily slipped from his mouth, and [Modesty]’s facial expression became twisted.

After the last battle, he should have known that Yang Yu’s team included more than just Yang Yu as the troublemaker, yet he instinctively focused only on Yang Yu...

No, because Yang Yu was pressing step by step, he had to focus a lot of attention on Yang Yu.

He couldn’t be sure if Yang Yu learned new Skills after their failed hunt that could take him down from the sky.

This concern made it impossible for him to observe every corner of the battlefield.

Behind him, flames surged, and [Modesty] realized something was charging toward him.

Using Flame Magic to dispel the effects brought by Iyas Holy Light, [Modesty] turned his head and saw a gigantic Silver Wolf also leaping through the flames, opening its bloody mouth towards him.

From under [Modesty]’s feet, a blaze of fire soared upward, weaving a burning Shield for [Modesty].

This Shield, which [Modesty] originally planned to use to block various ranged Attacks after flying into the sky, was now disregarded.

Lotcar opened its bloody mouth, biting firmly into [Modesty]’s Shield, intending to pull [Modesty] down from the sky with its weight.

[Modesty] quickly allocated Magic Power, wrapped Lotcar with part of his Magic Power, taking him into the sky together.

”This is really annoying!”

Reaching out his hand, [Modesty] gathered refined Magic Power as numerous extremely complex Magic Arrays spread out before him, converging from above, below, left, and right, forming four Magic Arrays. These four Magic Arrays converged in his palm, synthesizing into a pure white flower bud.

Inside the flower bud, a vibrant red flame was nurtured.

[Modesty] unleashed Pingru’s signature Skill [Fiery Fire Blossom]. Although the power might not reach a thousandth of the [Fiery Fire Blossom] that attacked the Elf Village due to the hasty preparation, at this distance, injecting the flames into Lotcar’s belly was sufficient to make his intestines burn and rot, forcing him to let go.

Yet, another Light Arrow silently streaked across the sky.

Before the Light Arrow touched [Modesty]’s Shield, it abruptly dispersed into a holy light mist, diving into the Flame Shield.

Within the Shield, the light mist transformed into countless Light Needles, piercing [Modesty]’s body from all directions, slowing down his released Magic.

Yang Yu had long put away his sword and Shield, jumped onto Lotcar’s hind legs, and climbed up by pulling on its fur.

In the blink of an eye, Yang Yu had climbed from Lotcar’s back to Lotcar’s cheek.

He took out the Long Stick [Sky Fall], and a red glow plunged into Yang Yu’s palm, coating the entire Long Stick with an orange glow.

”Lotcar, let go!”

Following Yang Yu’s command, Lotcar loosened its mouth, letting its body fall freely.

Yang Yu used Lotcar’s face as a springboard, leaping up, slamming the stick onto [Modesty]’s Flame Shield.

The strength of a Magician’s Magic Shield depends on various factors, but compared to a Shield that truly provides full immunity from damage, it still falls short.

If the Attack exceeds the limits of the Shield, it will easily break through the Shield’s protection.

[Modesty], transformed into Pingru, far lacks the defenses like that of Gushan Kurala making the Shield created merely a string of attractive numbers.

The [Double-sided Slash] Yang Yu released, consuming 10% of his maximum Life Value, combined with the aerial effect of the Long Stick [Sky Fall], was enough to puncture the Flame Shield woven by [Modesty].

Accompanied by a crisp shattering sound, the Flame Shield protecting [Modesty] shattered like a broken egg.

Yang Yu gave [Modesty]’s head a heavy blow.

[Modesty] raised his hand, releasing a tremendous amount of Magic Power, his body igniting with raging flames once more. These intense flames enveloped Yang Yu, continuously burning Yang Yu’s HP.

The Blood Bar slowly declined visibly to the naked eye, yet Yang Yu still managed to suppress [Modesty] with the Long Stick, knocking [Modesty] toward the ground.

In the midst, a blood-red aura spread from Yang Yu’s chest, enveloping him in a layer of blood-red War Garment.

Activating [Fury Blood], Yang Yu swiftly adjusted his grip and used the Long Stick [Sky Fall] to prop against [Modesty]’s chest.

With a thunderous crash, Yang Yu and [Modesty] fell to the ground, creating a huge crater, as if the earth was shaking violently.

Rock fragments shattered, but what sprayed forth was not fire, but countless pure water.

Lingshan had been chanting blessings, intending to entrap [Modesty] with a water tornado during Lotcar and [Modesty]’s stalemate, but it seemed unnecessary...

Yang Yu mercilessly swung the Long Stick again and again, striking [Modesty]’s body.

[Modesty] tried to resist, but was subsequently attacked by Bai Jin flying through the air, sealed his Magic Power with Magic, unable to release any Magic, not even forcibly detonating his Magic Power to perish together with Yang Yu and them.

As Yang Yu’s attacks hit one after another, [Modesty] could feel his consciousness blurring, his body crying out, an indescribable sense of resistance surged in his heart, as if telling him ”I don’t want to change back! I don’t want to change back!”

This feeling was identical to the feeling of entering his useless form.

The result was already clear.

No matter how much [Modesty] resisted, he couldn’t stop his body’s transformation.

In the past, he could still use ”I’ve done the Task well” as solace, but now he felt empty inside, knowing what would happen next, he might never witness the advent of the new world.

Nevertheless, [Modesty] feared even more that Yang Yu might truly obtain some information from him and actually break everything they painstakingly managed.

A tear trickled from [Modesty]’s corner, filled with unwillingness and regret, he transformed back into his own form after becoming someone else’s body.

However, this body was no longer his original appearance, but... half human, half Slime.

The Slime part looked like a mess of slime formed by softening and fragmenting a normal person’s half body.

Gently raising his hand, returning to his original form, [Modesty], for some reason, did not lose his mind immediately as before, countless memories flashed before his eyes.

Finally, the images froze on an old man holding a lantern.

”Pope... the rest... I entrust to you.

I can no longer see the arrival of the new world as promised... but...

No matter how difficult, you must fulfill our wish, kill the goddess...

You are the lantern holder in the Dark Night, please lead us to a bright future...”

His hand fell powerlessly, and the last bit of Life Value in [Modesty]’s Blood Bar was completely drained by Yang Yu.
