Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Baihua City, in front of the Imperial Palace, the Subhumans were bustling around.

The mourning white imperial banners were hung all around the perimeter of the Imperial Palace, swaying desolately in the cold wind of the season.

Even now, the Subhumans living in Baihua City can’t believe what happened the day before yesterday.

On that day, Emperor Wan Zhangshi and Prince Qian Xiaolan were assassinated, meeting their untimely end, leaving them forever.

It’s said that the assassins silently infiltrated and used a deadly poison to kill the two.

Whether it was fortune or misfortune, the guards who noticed the anomaly struggled with great difficulty to kill the assassin and discovered that the assassin was really a human, and they retrieved a secret letter from the Emperor of the Luo Ze Empire from his body.

The objective of the Luo Ze Empire was simple; with the negotiations between the two countries at an impasse, the Luo Ze Empire wanted to create chaos in Wansheng Country through assassination, thereby gaining the upper hand in negotiations.

Besides the anger and sorrow, the people of Baihua City are also deeply concerned about the future of Wansheng Country.

Emperor Wan Zhangshi was an only son, and Qian Xiaolan was his only daughter. If one traces upwards, there were princes, but most of these princes perished on the battlefield during the long war.

The vast Wansheng Country, at this moment, couldn’t quickly find someone to inherit the throne.

If they consult the Wanzhang Lion’s family tree, they might be able to find one or two people with inheritance rights...

But now, with internal and external troubles, do these ”Crown Heirs” who have never appeared in the public’s eyes really have the capability to inherit this country?

One must realize that with the slightest misstep, this country could be led into the abyss.

In a misfortune of misfortunes, the king entrusted the country’s future to the Prime Minister before his death.

Just yesterday, Minister Ming Dalak announced to the people the future path this country will take.

”...

Grieving over the deaths of Emperor Wan Zhangshi and Prince Qian Xiaolan, I am deeply saddened, but we cannot stop moving forward.

The Luo Ze Empire is eyeing us with hostility; falling into chaos now plays right into the enemy’s hands. In this dire time, we must unite to comfort the emperor’s spirit in heaven.

The emperor entrusted me with everything before his demise.

However, I modest in talents and limited in learning, am unable to ascend to high office to lead you all forward; therefore, I proposed to the emperor to abandon the current inheritance system.

One individual’s strength has limits. Only by combining and complementing one another’s strengths can we create infinite strength.

The upcoming new system will fuse everyone’s strength together.

In the future, regardless of race, gender, or age, everyone will have the opportunity to showcase their talents.

The country will not divide into regions based on singular Subhuman settlements, but will divide according to new unified rules.

Each region will elect central representatives in proportion to represent the people in the central council to jointly govern the country.

The council will be renewed every five years. We welcome all competent and well-regarded Subhumans to contribute to this country.

I hereby declare that from today, Wansheng Country embarks upon a republic.

All Subhumans are citizens of this country.

Regardless of gender, age, rich or poor, noble or common, regardless of race, you are citizens of this country, and as long as our country exists, no one can bully you.

...”

Yesterday, Ming Dalak’s impassioned speech remains vivid in the minds of the people of Baihua City to this day.

In their eyes, only the Founding Father Ming Dalak could save this country from peril at such a dangerous time.

Ming Dalak becoming the first Governor and forming a temporary council was naturally the people’s choice.

As time ticked by, Ming Dalak appeared on the palace walls.

The noisy clamor immediately stopped, and all the Subhumans present turned their eyes toward Ming Dalak, ready to witness this historical moment.

Without much preamble, Ming Dalak began his inaugural speech straightaway.

The first half of the speech was almost no different from a regular inaugural speech, but in the latter half, Ming Dalak’s speech took a significant turn.

”...

Thank you all for your support. I pledge to formally assume the role as the first Governor of the Wansheng Republic.

However, it’s regretful, fellow citizens, that today is not a day to celebrate. Our struggle has not ended; in fact, it has only just begun.

Humans already see us as a thorn in their side, a stab in their flesh.

For many years, we did not provoke humans and simply sought to live in one corner of the continent. Yet humans with their expanding ambitions intend to devour us all.

Our brothers and sisters have died horrible deaths under their butcher knives.

Our land...

”

Under Ming Dalak’s premeditation, the inaugural speech turned into a rallying cry.

Every word Ming Dalak said was true, yet he used rhetoric skillfully, stirring up the listeners’ deep-seated hatred towards humans.

”...We have no choice but to act this way; if we don’t, one day such tragedies will certainly repeat.....”

Subsequently, like toppling a domino, Ming Dalak shifted the topic from the oath-taking ceremony to the continuation of war, leaving the people cast aside any notions of peace.

”.....

Hear me out, I know each of you has concerns, but now such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is in front of us; we must seize it.

Now, the human forces have retreated to their country, their morale is low.....

But it won’t be long before they regroup and return.

By then, our country will be ravaged once again.

Moreover, humans hold a trump card; they will utilize the relics they discover to continuously upgrade their equipment. Previously, in wars, because of their use of those peculiar things, we have several times found ourselves at a disadvantage.

I cannot imagine the tragedies that would occur if they were to master new technologies.

We do not wish to fight, but we have no choice but to fight...

You all, actually, I have pondered for a long time.

Whether to tell you the truth behind the Luo Ze Empire’s aggression against us.

But ultimately, I have decided to reveal all the truths, including why humans persecuted us Subhumans three hundred years ago, to you.

...”

In the end, Ming Dalak revealed his trump card.

Behind him, a projection of an old book page appeared, covered with ancient text.

Beside this book page, another book page translated the ancient text into modern language: ”Subhumans will ultimately replace all humans.”

”It was believing in such foolish things that humans started the war against us.

We once hoped to coexist peacefully with humans, yet they treated us this way.

Since they believe so strongly in this prophecy, let us make this prophecy come true for them to see.”
