Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The specific name of the sub-human species to which General Duoshi belongs is the Tusked Wild Boar.

Unlike most beastfolk, the Tusked Wild Boar Clan lives in marshlands far from the bustling cities and has little interaction with other beastfolk races, thus preserving some unique customs and habits.

The existing Tusked Wild Boar Clan is divided into three settlements along three different large marshlands.

The marshlands Yang Yu and his companions are heading to is located in the eastern part of the Sailuomen Plain Long Boot Region, and is the largest settlement, also the hometown of General Duoshi.

Unfortunately, General Duoshi is occupied with military affairs and cannot personally lead Yang Yu and his group in a tour of the lifestyle of the Tusked Wild Boar Clan.

However, General Duoshi has sent a guard unit to assist Yang Yu in obtaining the necessary items.

Yang Yu was very cautious as they headed towards the marsh.

If they accidentally attract some powerful assassin, things could become quite troublesome.

The winter offensive was drawing nearer, so the sooner the plan’s feasibility could be proven, the sooner they could prepare; if it wasn’t feasible, they could consider other strategic methods.

Honestly, if this plan was proven infeasible, Yang Yu might actually be relieved.

Yet, Yang Yu sincerely hoped the plan would work.

It’s been a long time since Yang Yu felt such a conflict within himself.

After passing through several sparse woods, General Duoshi’s guard unit appeared in front of Yang Yu and his team.

Everyone had shed their heavy and uniform armor, wearing dark brown vest-like clothing that reflected faintly in the mottled sunlight of the woods.

These clothes were woven from water-resistant materials.

After briefly greeting them, the guard unit led Yang Yu’s entourage towards their settlement.

Though it was late autumn, the forest remained lush and vibrant, heavy with murky moisture, and the sound of various mosquitoes buzzing around could be heard.

The sun shone fiercely, giving the forest an inexplicable stuffiness.

If not for the yellowing shrubs and grasses by the puddles, Yang Yu and the team would have thought it was still mid-summer.

As they ventured further in, Yang Yu noticed the increasingly muddy terrain.

A twisted and strange tree surrounded by a pool of muddy water, with several unnamed plants sticking out, became an extremely common sight.

For those unfamiliar with the marsh, stepping on something they shouldn’t or going where they shouldn’t could result in being swallowed by the entire marsh.

The Tusked Wild Boar Clan lived near this dangerous marshland.

Every dangerous spot in the marsh was firmly etched in the memory of their race; only the Tusked Wild Boar could understand the monsters within the marsh and know the burial sites of special treasures.

Because most of this area was difficult marshland, the Luo Ze Empire found it laborious and unrewarding to attempt an invasion here, thus the priority for occupation was the lowest.

Although the Luo Ze Empire posed little threat to this marsh, General Duoshi understood the concept of mutual aid and responded to the national alliance call by engaging some tribe members in the war between the two countries.

Currently, this Tusked Wild Boar village is led by the near-fifty-year-old clan leader ”Iron Head”.

The Tusked Wild Boar Clan’s village is right beside the marsh, with houses built close to the trees, all constructed from lightweight yet sturdy wooden structures.

Following the guard unit as they walked and stopped throughout the village, they finally came upon a long wooden bridge where Yang Yu finally met the village chief ”Iron Head”.

His appearance was not much different from Duoshi, yet much more rugged and wild.

If appearances reflect one’s personality, Yang Yu could immediately see that Iron Head was hot-tempered.

”I’ve heard from Duoshi about your matters.

Though I don’t know why you need that kind of thing, since you need it, take as much as you want.

Regrettably, there are dangerous demons lurking nearby.

With just a few of you, there’s no way to take those things away.”

Iron Head hadn’t finished speaking when he saw Yang Yu suddenly become excited, throwing out a barrage of questions, nearly overwhelming him.

”Places like these must surely produce various demons; there must be some adventurers coming to gather materials. Do you know which demons they usually target?

In this forest, are there any monsters that shouldn’t be approached? Where are they located?

Your tribe has guarded this marsh for generations; are there any strange legends or have you found any strange items?

Are there any recent issues in the village?

...

Don’t worry. I’ve come here to definitely help you.

I just need you to provide information...”

Before Yang Yu came, Iron Head made various assumptions about Yang Yu and drew his own conclusions:

Someone who accomplishes great deeds at a young age must be quite proud, and dealing with such a person is bound to take effort,

But Iron Head never imagined that the Grand General from the Wansheng Country’s Army was actually too enthusiastic. It seemed like helping them was the task, taking those items was just incidental.

Yet Yang Yu’s overwhelming enthusiasm made Iron Head a bit uneasy.

Seeing this Grand General’s age, he’s still a fledgling, full of youthful passion, but some matters can’t be settled with passion alone.

Thus, Iron Head stuck to his original plan, intending to test Yang Yu.

”Troublesome matters aren’t absent.

Recently, several Swamp Mud Crocodiles have gathered on the main paths; to get those items, you must defeat these Swamp Mud Crocodiles.

These aren’t creatures normal people can handle.”

”Leave it to me. Could you tell me about their habitats and habits?”

At Yang Yu’s request, Iron Head explained the distribution and behavior of the Swamp Mud Crocodiles.

After Yang Yu acquired the information, he immediately set off to clear out the Swamp Mud Crocodiles.

Swamp Mud Crocodiles are dangerous crocodile monsters living in the marsh forests; they often blend with the mud to attack any passing creatures, and their weakness is under their forelimbs.

In the muddy waters, they can’t see outside; it seems they emit magic from their armpits to sense the surrounding environment.

Even the Tusked Wild Boar Clan often needs to organize a group of more than ten people to manage a Swamp Mud Crocodile, let alone Yang Yu and his team?

Originally, Iron Head intended to rally the entire tribe to help Yang Yu deal with those Swamp Mud Crocodiles when Yang Yu ran out of options.

However, the outcome was beyond Iron Head’s expectation.

Yang Yu had only gone for less than half a day when a Tusked Wild Boar Guard hurriedly ran over to report to Iron Head.

”Urgent news!”

”What happened? Did something happen to the Grand General?”

”Not really; you must come and see, clan leader!”

Under the guard’s lead, Iron Head rushed to a part of the marshland, only to see four or five Swamp Mud Crocodile corpses stacked up high.

This wasn’t all; beside these Swamp Mud Crocodile corpses, the remains of various fierce monsters were piled as high as a small mountain.

And Yang Yu was directing his companions to perform electric therapy on a struggling Swamp Mud Crocodile while trying to insert a severed crocodile hand into a blue Slime’s body.
