The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1729: Chapter 1729: Wow, We’ve Got Two Tables for Mahjong

She put down the water, lifted her eyelids slightly, the corners of her eyes a bit dry, and opened her mouth: ”Dad, Master Cadmus, you guys...”

She wanted to ask if they were full after dinner. If not, she’d order hotel delivery for them.

Nathalie Quinlan hadn’t had the chance to finish her sentence.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Stanley Zachmann immediately stood up and walked toward the door: ”I’ll get it.”

Nathalie looked at his hurried back as he went to open the door, her head aching more, like a string in her brain was pulling tight with pain, and she didn’t know how to start explaining things to him.

Some things are too complicated to explain.

It might take a whole day and night, and still not be enough.

Plus, she was not good at telling stories, and having to recount the entire story was really difficult for her.

As Nathalie was putting down the water, she picked up the phone.

She hadn’t had time to check the unread messages on her phone when Stanley Zachmann had already opened the door to see the person outside knocking: ”Mr. Dax?!”

Everyone else in the room was taken aback upon hearing his voice.

Shawn Norton looked shocked: ”What? Mr. Dax?”

He instinctively looked toward Master Cadmus: ”Master Cadmus, did you call Mr. Dax?”

Master Cadmus was equally baffled: ”I have no idea.”

Jackson Wafford was completely dumbfounded next to them, and finally reacted the same way as Shawn Norton: ”Master Cadmus, wasn’t it you who invited Mr. Dax?”

Master Cadmus: ”...”

He didn’t!

It was only then that Nathalie Quinlan noticed the message Caleb Dax had sent, asking which hotel she was staying at and her room number.

She twitched the corners of her mouth.

At the door, Stanley Zachmann had already stepped aside for Caleb Dax to enter.

Caleb Dax hadn’t expected there would be so many people in Nathalie’s room, some of whom he recognized.

After entering, he greeted Master Cadmus, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then walked straight to the girl under everyone’s eyes, speaking as if very familiar: ”You came to Inderia and didn’t even let me know? I asked you before if you wanted to come, and you said no, yet here you are.”

The way he spoke to Nathalie made it clear they were very close.

And not just ordinarily close!

Shawn Norton, who couldn’t hold his curiosity, looked at Caleb Dax and then back at Nathalie, unable to resist asking: ”Nathalie, do you know Mr. Dax?”

Nathalie was at a loss for how to explain, so she simply surrendered to the teasing: ”Ah, I published an article in a medical journal before, and that’s how we met.”

Master Cadmus and the others were again: ...

Could her explanation be any more perfunctory?

Nathalie demonstrated that indeed it could!

She paused for a second, resting her chin on her hand, and said with great certainty: ”An online friend!”

Master Cadmus and the others: ”...”

”You hadn’t mentioned this before, I thought you two didn’t know each other, but turns out you do.” Shawn Norton, being more outgoing and cheerful, wasn’t too concerned with the details. He readily accepted the explanation of an online friend and had just said something to Nathalie.

”Knock knock!” Just then, the door was knocked on again.

The string at the back of Nathalie’s head was about to snap. She darkened her gaze and looked outside the door.

Who could it be this time?!

Stanley Zachmann promptly offered: ”I’ll get it.”

He had gone to open the door just now, and he was doing it again.

The hotel room wasn’t big, so he took two steps and was by the door, turned the knob, and soon opened the door.

This time, there were two people outside.

One was a man sitting in a wheelchair, a young man with striking looks. Unfortunately, despite the bright October weather, he had an out-of-place blanket covering his legs, clearly indicating there was a problem with them.
