The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 683: Chapter 683: Almost Two Hours, Why Hasn’t He Come Yet?_1

At this moment in the VIP hospital room.

Phoebe Hoffman was growing uneasy, frequently checking the time. An hour and a half had passed and the person still hadn’t arrived. Her fair face was growing a shade of green. Unable to sit still any longer, she got up, pursed her lips, and paced back and forth in the room a few times.

Everyone could see she was in a bad mood, but no one paid her any mind.

”Master Cadmus’s condition has been getting increasingly severe recently, developing to the point where he can’t sleep at night. If this continues, his body may not be able to sustain his participation in the current research project...”

Brian Bonette was still chatting with the man lying in the hospital bed about The Ninth Institute’s matters, with his legs crossed and his entire body relaxed, leaning back on the sofa.

But his brow furrowed slightly, ”We’ve consulted numerous doctors both domestically and internationally, and tried many medications, but none were effective. Some time ago, Master Cadmus specifically took time out of The Ninth Institute’s research to see a specialist, Adelle Wafford. She took some x-rays and prescribed a lot of medication. But upon his return, the situation remained the same, no improvement at all.”

William Cadmus was one of The Ninth Institute’s most formidable experts in biomedical engineering, and the project he was working on was extremely important to The Ninth Institute and to C Country.

However, William Cadmus had long been plagued by migraines.

The illness wasn’t serious, and previously he had relied on painkillers for treatment. But eventually, his body developed a resistance to pain medication, and ordinary painkillers were of no use.

Whenever William Cadmus’s chronic issue flared up, he would be unable to work the entire day, couldn’t eat, and couldn’t sleep.

It was clear to everyone that if this dragged on, William Cadmus’s health would eventually collapse.

But even Adelle Wafford, the country’s most authoritative neurosurgeon, was at a loss with this case, so Brian Bonette didn’t know who else to turn to.

Amadeus Yancey, however, had someone in mind. His thin lips curved up, and with a serene confidence, he said to Brian, ”Don’t worry, I have someone who should be able to cure Master Cadmus.”

”Who?” Brian Bonette was curious—who could be more skilled than Adelle Wafford?

He thought Amadeus meant some expert from overseas, and was about to say that Master Cadmus had seen many overseas experts to no avail.

Just then, Phoebe Hoffman, having walked around twice without anyone paying attention to her, could no longer contain herself and approached Alfred Garland, ”Didn’t she say it would take one hour? It’s almost two hours now, why hasn’t she arrived?”

Without Phoebe’s remark, neither Alfred Garland nor Wallace Radcliff had paid attention to the time, engrossed as they were in listening to Brian Bonette and Amadeus Yancey’s conversation.

At this moment, Alfred Garland looked at his wristwatch, realizing it had been nearly two hours since he had made the phone call to Nathalie Quinlan.

He had no particular reaction. Lifting his head, he looked towards an anxious Phoebe Hoffman with a lack of concern, ”Ms. Quinlan is probably just delayed on the road.”

”Delayed on the road?” Phoebe Hoffman’s eyebrows knitted together angrily, her voice rising with irritation, ”If she agreed to one hour, then it should be one hour. She’s late and doesn’t even make a phone call to let us know, just leaving us here to wait for her, what does this mean?”

She thought this high school student was young but acted quite pretentious!

No sooner had she spoken than Alfred Garland’s gaze grew heavier, just as he was about to respond.

Wallace Radcliff, fearing the two would quarrel, stepped in like a peacemaker. He first pulled Alfred Garland aside, suggesting he not fuss over a woman, then turned to Phoebe Hoffman to mediate, ”Alright, alright, Mr. Hoffman. We’re here to ask for Ms. Quinlan’s help, not to have a meal with her. If she’s been delayed, let’s just wait. I know you’re worried about the programming issue, but getting anxious won’t help. There’s no need to get so worked up.”
